Sofia’s pov
My birthday is in two weeks.
In two weeks time, my birthday would finally be here, and I genuinely couldn’t wait.
I’ve been looking forward to it for months, and even though I hadn’t felt excited about it throughout the
few weeks Luca and I haven’t been in good times. But, now that we’re back to how we once used to
be, I was back to being extremely excited about it.
I really couldn’t wait for it to finally be here.
Luca had said he’d finally get to go all the way with me on my birthday, and even though we haven’t
talked about it yet since things became good between us once again, from the look of things between
us so far, I was very positive that the offer was still very much on.
And that, was the actual reason why I couldn’t wait.
As I sieved through the dozen of books I have, my mind went back to the thought of Luca going all
caveman on me after coming in and catching Ryan and I together.
At that moment, I had instantly said a silent prayer to the heavens because If Luca had arrived when
Ryan and I were holding hands, that would have been a problem. Even though there was nothing
between Ryan and I, Luca wouldn’t see it that way, and I wouldn’t want to put Ryan into some sort of
problem with Luca.
I let out a little giggle into the book I was currently holding and shook my head a little. Even though
Luca had gotten all possessive over that particular issue which had been completely nothing to me, it
didn’t prevent my body from wracking with excitement at the thought of how he had reacted that day.
I opened the book I was with after a few moments, and then I picked out the bracelet which I had
placed in it, it was a black colored bracelet, one which I had gotten on the day I had gone out with
Angelo. I had planned to give it to him thst particular night, but when he had arrived home and
witnessed Ryan and I taking a walk, which had prompted him into ravishing me completely. That
particular night, he had gifted me a small black box and when I opened it, a pair of diamond earrings
and necklace were in it, which had looked extremely beautiful, it made me flatter about presenting the
bracelet which I had gotten for him, to him– because, the bracelet had looked extremely plain NôvelDrama.Org © content.
compared to the diamond jewelries.
But now that I was looking at it, after thinking about it some more, I decided to gift the bracelet to him
like that, because I knew it was something he’d like before I decided to get it, I knew it was something
he’d prefer compared to flashy jewelries.
Which is why I’d be giving the bracelet to him tonight.

I plan to pay Sarah a visit today.
Matilda and I had talked about it for over a week, and we had both finally decided to carry out the visit
today.
As I got dressed, I reminded myself about the promise which I made to myself when Sarah had been
transferred to a hospital, that I’d be going to visit her once a week.
From the looks of things so far, it seems like I wouldn’t be having the time to pay her a visit every week,
but one thing I’d be determined about, is to pay Sarah a visit at least once in two weeks.
“Are you ready, ma’am?” Matilda called out after knocking once against the bedroom door and I called
out back to her that I was almost done.
I’ve tried to get Matilda to stop referring to me as ‘ma’am’ but after trying countless times, I decided to
just let her call me whatever she wants. Although she refers to me by my name instead of ‘Mrs. Ricci’
from time to time, and I knew that was still something.
The gift package I had asked Matilda to pack for me looked as hefty as I had requested it to me, and
the flowers which I had requested for were also already here, which all got loaded in the car. Matilda
and I sat in the back, while Ethan and Ryan said in the front – with Ethan situated behind the wheels.
On arriving at the hospital, Ryan carried the gift package while walking a few feet behind us, as the
usual protection, while Matilda and I walked side by side, with the flowers clutched tightly in my arms.
“Do you miss her?” I asked after a few moments of silence in the elevator which was going up.
Matilda’s eyes were a little red as she nodded once. Matilda who was usually very chippy, has been
extremely silent since, and I knew it was because this entire thing is getting to her so much, seeing as
she has spent so many years by Sarah’s side.
On getting into Sarah’s ward which was well funished and decorated, a sob bubbled in my throat
instantly.
Sarah’s head was completely shaved, and she looked extremely frail, it made my heart ache so much.
I swallowed the sob down, and tried to return the smile that graced her face on noticing our presence,
but the smile didn’t reach her eyes, because she’s undoubtedly in a lot of pain right now.
That prompted the first teardrop to slide down my cheeks. I took her hand which didn’t have a needle in
it, in mine and her bones felt so frail and soft in my arms, it made my heart ache some more.
Sarah had neglected her health so much until it ended up turning into something else, which is why it
ended up weighing her to this extent.
I let out a sob and took a step away from her bed, hastily wiping my face as Matilda took over my
previous spot, engulfing Sarah in a careful hug and sobbing into her shoulder.
The scene was so heartbreaking to me, making something akin to bile rise in my throat.
“Thank you ma’am, for always looking out for her. She sang your praises so much, our family is forever
indebted to you and your husband.” A young woman who introduced herself as one of Sarah’s
daughter thanked me profusely moments later, but I was quick to reassure her that it was nothing.
I couldn’t really handle all what’s currently going on, and the tears refused to stop coming, prompting
me into hastily throwing an excuse above my shoulders as I exited the room, slumping hard against the
wall behind the room with my eyes closed as I let the tears flow freely. The few months I spent with
Sarah felt so meaningful to me than the entire years I spent with my mother, the thought of anything
happening to her was extremely frightening.
When I cracked my eyes open, I wasn’t all that shocked to see Ryan leaning against the wall right in
front of me. He was silent and I let out a hiccup, hastily attempting to wipe my cheeks which were
currently heated up.
Seconds later, Ryan was holding a white handkerchief for me, which I felt too frozen to accept until he
closed the distance between us a little and wiped the strains across my cheeks. Getting out of my
shock, I retrieved the fabric from him and used it to wipe my face properly, noting how it smelled so
much of him, while feeling my heart thump lightly at the realization that Ryan is always somehow
around whenever I need someone.
And that realization pleased me immensely.
