Chapter 20 Rejoyla, Stay!
Burton's attitude showed that he was satisfied with Jacquelyn as his wife for the time being. There was no need for Hillary to offend Jacquelyn. So, she swallowed the explanation she was about to give and said instead, "Georgina was careless. She certainly didn't mean it!"
"Take her away. The Sterling family can't bear to have a brutal member who harms her family. How did I teach you guys? Take her back and make her remember. I don't want to see her face again," Burton commanded without looking at Georgina. After announcing his decision, he turned to Jason and asked with concern, "Is it serious? Does it hurt? How about I send you to the hospital?" RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Georgina collapsed to the ground, devastated. No one, her father included, dared defy the old man.
She was finished!
If she was driven away, she would not be able to come back again. Unwilling to live with her uncle and his family, she sprang to her feet and tried to plead, but Nicolas quickly caught her and reprimanded her in a low voice, "Silent!"
Shaken by his stern voice, Georgina trembled and looked at him with pleading eyes, hoping he would put in a good word for her. But Nicolas frowned and refused to soften his heart. Instead, he looked at the oddly-shaped Jason and softened his voice. "Jason's injury could be serious. We should take him to the hospital. It's my fault for failing to discipline Georgina. I didn't expect her to be so reckless and cause Jason to get hurt."
Jason hummed indifferently. "Well, Dr. Auther said that it would depend on my recovery."
Burton became even more distressed when he heard that. "I remember a doctor in our hospital who specializes in dermatology. Let her take a look at you!" He turned his head and glared at Nicolas.
"Get out of my face! I don't want to see her again!"
Terrified, Georgina cried as she tried to plead for mercy, but Nicolas covered her mouth and dragged her away.
Heidi looked at Burton and Jason with a stiff smile. Sick of the crowd, Burton sent them away. "All of you can go now. I know it's not easy to manage the household, but you can't forget to teach your children. Our family doesn't care about external things, but we can't neglect the character of our children. Remember that!"
Heidi stiffened subconsciously. "I know. It was my fault for not disciplining Georgina."
Burton wasn't usually too strict with his daughters-in-law. But when he did speak up, his anger was palpable. Heidi resented Georgina for causing trouble for her. Yet, when facing Burton, she had to humbly admit her mistakes. If she tried to justify herself, it would only make Burton angrier.
Sure enough, after Heidi admitted her mistake, Burton thought about how Heidi had helped Nicolas all these years. Raising so many daughters was no easy feat, and she deserved credit for her hard work. Besides, Georgina wasn't her biological child, so it was unlikely that she would pay much attention to Georgina.
At that, Burton didn't make a fuss but waved his hand dismissively. "You guys can go now."
"Rejoyla, stay!" Jason suddenly spoke up. He sat on the wide sofa with his fingers crossed and his feet resting on the coffee table and stared at Rejoyla, who was standing on tiptoe behind Jacquelyn.
Once the words were out of his mouth, all eyes were on her. Rejoyla cursed inwardly but didn't dare show any difference in her face. On the contrary, she obediently stood in place and tiptoed. "Anything?"
Heidi and Hillary both stopped in their tracks, speculating why Jason had asked Rejoyla to stay. They remembered what Georgina had said earlier and looked at Rejoyla meaningfully. That was normal since women were naturally sensitive to such things.
