Chapter 169
Chapter 169
-CLARA-
Delilah placed her arm over my shoulder as she helped me walk into Damon's hospital room. As soon as I laid my eyes on him, my breath hitched.
His whole body was covered in bandages, especially his head. I internally winced as I remembered how Sebastian had stomped on his head. Delilah helped me towards the bed and I groaned slightly as I sat on it before reaching out to touch his face.
"My love, I miss you" I murmured as tears rolled down my cheeks. I moved closer and placed a kiss on his lips, not caring how my tears intertwined with the kiss.
"You have to wake up soon, okay? Our children need you, I need you. I don't think I can do this without you" I murmured with a shaky breath.
"If you can hear me, just know that I miss you and I'm waiting for you to wake up. Please wake up soon, I'm begging you" I murmured softly as I caressed his face gently. That was the only part of his body that wasn't covered with bandages.
"We should head back, everyone would probably chop off my head if they found out I brought you here when you should be resting" She uttered and I sighed, reluctant to leave Damon's side.
"Can't I have my bed moved in here? There's a lot of space" I told her and she sighed.
"I don't think that's possible...."
"I don't want to be away from him, Delilah. He needs me and I need him too" I told her and she went silent before she wrapped her arms around me.
"Yes I know and I wouldn't in my wildest dream want to separate the both of you but this ward isn't suitable for you and the doctors can't bring all that equipment they'll use in taking care of you, here. Plus, I know you'll barely sleep a wink because you'll be watching Damon for any slight movement” She said to me and I sighed because I knew her words were true.
"I want to be the first person he sees when he wakes up" I murmured softly and she nodded.
"I bet you will. we need to head back, Clara" Delilah told me and I sighed before leaning in and placing another kiss on his lips.
"I'll come visit you everyday. I promise" I murmured against his lips and I kept my promise.
Despite their protest, I made my way towards Damon's room everyday and hoped that one of those days, he'll wake up but he didn't.
Three months passed and I could barely stand up anymore. I was in constant pain and I bled more than usual.
I couldn't go see Damon everyday like I used to but any day I felt less pain, I went to see him despite the doctor's warnings.
"Things are not looking good Mrs Donovan. Your due date is in a few weeks and if you go ahead with this, you'll bleed to death. Please reconsider" The doctor was starting to sound like a broken record.
Ever since I started feeling constant pain, the doctor and everyone else were doing their possible best to talk me out of keeping my babies but I wasn't giving in. I was going to deliver them.
"I want to see Damon. Is he showing any signs of waking up?" I questioned the doctor, instantly changing the subject.
He stared at me for a while then glanced at everyone in the room before letting out a sigh as he shook his head. The Alpha King, Luca and Dimitri had to head back to the pack to take care of the affairs.
There was a lot to handle so they hardly showed up. I knew they were using that as an excuse to get their mind off the real situation at hand and I couldn't blame them.
While my uncle,
he had to return
back to his people but made sure to
visit as often as he could. He even
came with some of his people some
times and they were slowly warming up tous which I appreciated
Delilah and Damon's mother didn't dare leave my side. Damon's mother knew exactly how to help me since she had been pregnant before and Delilah was just there for moral support.
They navigated between looking after me and looking after Damon. Each day, different pack members came to pray with Damon and I. My room was filled with flowers and notes.
“There are no signs, Mrs Donovan. His brain waves haven't activated yet but trust me, you'll be the first to know if he reacts. You should think of yourself first, you're in a very bad position and..."
“I'm keeping my babies. I've gotten this far and I'm still alive, am I not?” I questioned and he sighed.
"You're losing more and more blood everyday. If you were to give birth to these babies, you'll bleed to death The doctor uttered with finality in his voice and I frowned but before could say anything, Luca walked into the room.
"The witches have agreed to help you during your pregnancy. They can stop the bleeding for a while and lessen the pain" Luca informed us immediately and a new found hope swelled in my heart.
"They agreed? I thought they didn't want to be tied to us wolves anymore?" Delilah questioned as she walked towards him.
"Yes but I made them an offer they couldn't resist and now they're ready to help" He said to us with a smile on his face.
"What did you offer them?" Delilah questioned and I immediately picked the suspicion in her voice.
"That's a story for another day, sweetheart" He murmured then placed a kiss on her lips to calm her down when he saw she was about to argue and my heart immediately ached.
I've missed Damon so fucking much.
"If the witches help, she has a higher chance of surviving right?" Damon's mother asked as she turned to the doctor who let out a sigh.
"I have no idea how the witches' magic works but if they say they can help then we have no other choice than to trust them..."NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
Before the doctor could complete his sentence, a sharp pain rippled through my body and a loud scream escaped my lips.
"Clara!” Damon's mother called out as she grabbed onto my hand and tried to keep me down as I trashed around.
This pain was unlike the ones I've felt before. It was unbearable.
"Oh goddess!" Damon's mother exclaimed in horror and I was in too much pain to ask what the problem was. Has anything happened to my babies? "You might want to call those witches now. Mrs Donovan's water just broke!"...
