Chapter 9: Heat

Chapter 9: Heat

(Ashely's POV)

After Jay and I embraced each other, we both entered his car, "Where to?" I asked with a grin on my

face as I fasten my seatbelt, "Don't worry, I got the perfect placeI was having a blast with Jay, he

instantly made me forget about this morning and I definitely don't regret calling him. After we left, Aunty

Jackie's restaurant, I started to get anxious about this special place Jay wanted to take me to, he said

that he was meant to take me at 3 just like he planned, but plans changed.

"Come on, Jay, just tell me where we're going?" I pleaded for the millionth time causing him to scoffed,

"Man, quit asking where we're going, damn," he said as I huffed falling back into the seat as I crossed

my arms with a visible pout on my lips, "Hurry up, my food is getting cold," I said in a whining tone

causing Jay to chuckle, "Don't worry, we're almost there," he said as I glance outside noticing that he

took a right turn onto a bumpy road that was surrounded by trees.

"Jay, where the hell are you taking me?" I asked sitting up to take a closer look outside the window as

he laughed, "Chill, I'm so murder," he said followed by a deep chuckle as he continued to drive.

Maybe this was a bad idea.

I thought until we began to get closer to our destination. As we got closer, I gasped before turning to

face Jay with my drop jaw as he smirked, "Surprise, how do you like it?" He asked as we finally parked.

"Like? Jay, I love this," I said excitedly exciting the car, "Well, I'm glad that I didn't disappoint, come on,

let's go," he said frapping a blanket from the backseat while I held our food before we walked towards

the dock.

I really loved Jay's surprise, it really warmed my heart. I stood there in awe staring at the twinkling

waters while Jay spread the blanket.

"You seem to enjoy it out here," Jay said as we both sat down on the blanket, "I loved coming to the

river, my dad used to take me all the time," I said with a wide smile on my face, "Really, when was the

last time you came here?" He asked while digging in his sandwich as I sighed, "The last time I came

here was 2 years ago before my dad died," I said staring out in the waters as I sighed again, "He used

to bring me out here to teach me how to swim," I explained bringing my knees up to my chest as I

smiled softly, "I remember how terrified I was, but he would always say that he would never let me fall

and that he would always protect me," I said as my tears slowly began to fall before an airy laugh

escaped from my shaky lips, "And that's exactly what he did," I said as my voice slight cracked before I

locked eyes with Jay, who smiled softly at me, "He sounds like a good man and father," he said as I

smiled, "The best," I said as we both chuckled.

"After he passed away, it pained me to come back to this place, but now that I'm actually here again

made I realized how much I missed being here," I said smiling brightly at Jay, who blushed trying to

avoid my stare while shaking his head, "If this place will always put that beautiful smile on your face

then I'll take you here anytime you want," he said making me blush as he cracked up, "Shut up!" I

whined before shoving some fried in my mouth, "You look really cute when you blush, Ash," he said as

I immediately covered my burning face. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

(Jay's POV)

I was having a great time with Ashely, she such a sweet girl and after hearing about her father, I felt the

need to protect her. I was falling for this girl and I was falling hard.

"Hey, Ash, I really wanna ask you something but I want to make things awkward," I said as she stopped

sipping her drink, "Shoot!" She said with a small smile as I took a deep breath, "It's about when I came

to pick you up, I noticed that Jake from the racing grounds was also there," I said as she sighed while

placing her drink down, "Oh, I thought you didn't notice," she mumbled but loud enough for me to hear,

"Is there something going on between you two?" I asked feeling anxious with her response, "Jay, if you

think me and Jake are in some sort of relationship then you're clearly mistaken," she said as I sighed in

relief, but not for her to notice, "Then what was he doing there, he wasn't harassing you, right?" I

asked, "You see after my dad died, my mom ended up finding love again and well, her husband turned

out to be Jake's father," she explained as I nodded, "Was that the reason why you didn't want to stay at

your house?" I asked as she nodded, "Yeah, there was an argument and I just needed to get away

because god knows what could be happening right now," she said as I hummed.
