Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Maya looked at her dear husband who stood feet away from her. She was tired and she needed rest.
That's what she had thought of all the way back to the mansion. She wanted to cuddle up on the cold
floor and let the slumber consume her. At least that's what she hoped for.
But now here she was. Looking at the handsome devil that had pleading eyes all this time. She wasn't
ready to say a word to him. Not now that she had said that she will think about it. Yes, she had told her
best friend everything. Everything about the turns of events and how she wanted her husband and
father to pay for everything.
It's not like Leonel hadn't tried. He did, in fact every time they met. He would take her to the gym and let
her punch the punching bag all she wanted by telling her that it was her husband and father. She did it
and it was always so overwhelming every time she did that. It was the best feeling ever. The feeling of
revenge would grow every time she did that.
Leonel being Leonel, he would burst her bubble by telling her that it was time to let go. To be the naive
girl that she was before. The one who always saw positive things in every negative things that
happened around her. She damn wanted that. To be who she was before the night that Chris called her
dad. She did but her quest for revenge was way stronger than her wanting to see good again in people.
That's why after one week of threatening her dear husband, she called Kyle asking if she needed a
different job the one she was doing at the moment. Of course, her best friend wouldn't say no as long
as she was paid much more than her current job. Her contract was expiring in a month and she had no
plans of renewing it again.
Maya had come up with the best way to revenge for her husband. She wanted him to beg her. To crawl
on his knees and ask for mercy. That's what she wanted and what's the best way to do that? Of course,
take away what he loves the most in this world. And that's only one thing. His company.
That's what he values most in this world, so, she would buy his shares through someone else and
when she made sure she had the most shares in the company, she would make herself know to him. It
would hurt him knowing that he was no longer in control. She would be his boss and he would do what
she asked of him.
It was the best revenge ever. Her husband eating from her palm. What could be more fan than that? So
she continued to work on her plan for a whole month and gave her husband silent treatment. It hurt him
and she could tell because every time he tried to say something to her, she would walk passed him.
She never knew why but every time she failed to acknowledge him, she got hurt too. The silent was
killing her too and she hated herself for it. Revenge wasn't supposed to hurt when your the one exciting
it but it hurt when came to her.
It hurt that every night when he remembered her she could sleep on the couch she cried silently
because she wanted to do what he said. It hurt when he made his mission to sent her white roses
every morning in her office with an apology card. She wanted to tell him to stop doing it. She wanted to
talk to him but every time she was about to do that, something always reminded her why she was in
silent treatment.
She did want to make his coffee every morning that she woke up and he was out jogging just like he
did since the first day of their marriage. But her subconscious would remind her of her revenge. The
revenge that made her get hurt with every move she made. She wanted to be like the two men.
Ruthless with words. She wanted to say things that would sting one like a bee. She wanted to much to
call names like they did and feel nothing. She wanted to be heartless like them. Heartless in a way that
you could stab your own daughter numerous time and feel nothing. That's what she wanted to become.
Just like them.
Then after one month and one week her friend video called her. She was at the office today after doing
get normal routine to her patients making sure they were okay. She walked to her office to finding a call
just ending. She remembered her coat and hung it before she purred herself some water.
Just when she was about to take he tablet and check who had called, it rung again. She looked at the
screen and her best friend's name appeared. She picked it up and as always, Kyle made humour from
the word go. She didn't know why but she knew that Kyle and Leonel would get along so well.
So after stupid comments from her friend and Maya loved to call them, Kyle gave her the good news.
Her contract had just come to an end and she was so ready to get back to her home country. But not
before she bugged all the handsome men she had met. That was Kyle to Maya. So she added herself
one week of pure happiness as she called it.
Kyle asked Maya what it was that she wanted to do. And Maya told her everything that she was
planning to do the her husband for revenge. She even told her that it was her who was going to buy
different shares from different shareholders. It did leave Kyle's mouth open by the time Maya was done.
Maya waited for her to say anything to her but she said nothing. That was the first time for Kyle to lack
words from her mouth. They're always at her lips ready to slip and today, today there were no word. It
wasn't what she expected and worse when she spoke up.
Maya at that time wished she hadn't even spoken. Kyle is the type that tells you blank truth. She won't
bit around the bush for you. She won't even sugar coat anything for you. She will say it the way it is.
And then she would say call a sped a sped and not a small spoon. That's how she is and that's what
she said to Maya.
'I never took you for this, Maya.' Those were her first word it hurt Maya. Yes, they did hurt since she
thought her friend would understand her and support her all though and here she was. Here she was,
all alone with her stupid plans.
But they weren't stupid. They were to make people feel what she felt when they attacked him. Was that
too much to want? She was a wounded lion and that's what made her see things clearly apparently not
everyone thought of her plan the best. She was going ahead with her plans despite Leonel and Kyle
refusing to help her. Nothing and no one was going to stand on her way of her revenge. That's what
she had thought before telling Kyle anything and Kyle talking to her.
Kyle. She had made Maya see this in a different way. She had made her that not everything is always
about do me I do you. It's not everything about tit for tat is a fair game. It's not always about slap me, I
slap you. That's not a way to leave ones life.
And that's why she even preached to her. Like the verse in the Bible which says if someone slaps you
on the right cheek then give him the left one to slap. Kyle, the one that Maya knew since highschool
preached to her. She wanted to laugh but the look on Kyle's face said she was serious. So Maya just
gave her her ears and an open mind.
Kyle went on to tell her about paying evil with kindness just like she was doing before. To continue
showing her dad how much she still loved him and hope that one day he will recognize her as one of
his own. His fresh and not the bitch he called her.
As for her husband, she had to do what she was doing before. If it's making coffee, she had to make it
with love. If it's doing what he wanted, then she had to do it. That's why she suffered before. That's why
she smiled before. And it's because she did pay evil with evil. She held no grudge against anyone. Kyle
went on to show her how Chris would get mad when he did something to her and she didn't react to it. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
He would get mad because she killed evil with kindness. Then how will she do that again if she wants
revenge? Kyle agreed that it was the best way to have her revenge but the question she asked was
'then what after your revenge Maya?' Of course, she hadn't thought of it but Kyle answered her.
Kyle told her what would happen after her revenge. She would be bitter than she was when Chris
called her dad. She will get a divorce from her husband and she would be lonely. She would want more
of revenge. More to an extent that she will never see any good in anyone. She will be full of hate all her
life and people like her, people like her die alone.
One gets nothing from revenge. All you get is bitterness and loneliness. And by the time Kyle was done
with her canceling, Maya was crying. She hadn't thought of that before. She had let her anger consume
her. She had let it blind her and she thought she was doing what was good for her only to learn that she
was killing herself slowly.
Kyle said her good bye and remind Maya that she will be home in a weeks time. She also said she
won't spoil her pure happiness of a week for her and she had to get her shit together. Maya laughed
wiping her tears away and promised that by the time the week ends, she would put her damn shit
together.
It was almost time to go home when a patient was brought in the hospital and there was no other
surgeon to attend to her. According to the nurse, she was involved in car accident and her head was so
much damaged. So Maya walked to the emergency room and asked the patient to be taken to the
operation room as quick as possible.
She asked another nurse to get her family members as quick as possible so that they can start any
operation. By the time she was done getting her equipment, the document was signed giving her a go
ahead. So she walked to the operation room and did what she did the best.
And that is being a vessel of Jesus Christ. She knew it wasn't her that saved people and so she let the
miracle worker do all the work through her. She had to believe that Jesus was with her despite of her
anger for the past two months. By the time the operation was over, it was 2330 and she was so tired.
She walked to her office and picked her phone to call the only person she knew he would help. She did
want to surprise her husband by asking him to get her but she didn't have his number. She wanted to
test if she could forgive and what other way to do that? Too bad she didn't have his number and she
didn't want to bother Wesley at that time.
Few minutes, there was a knock on the door and she picked up her things and walked to get it. Leonel
stood there smiling at her. She greeted him and apologized once again for disturbing him at that time.
He said that it was okay and walked her to his car.
On their way, Maya told Leonel everything that Kyle thought about her revenge. Leonel agreed with
Kyle and told Maya that since the day she met her dad again, she wasn't the same and if she
continued with her hatred towards the men it would her own down fall at the end of the revenge. So
Leonel being Leonel, he asked her to promise to work things out with her husband if not for anything,
for her own piece of mind which she did.
Leonel pulled the car in front of the mansion and promised to pick her up the following day since her
car was at the hospital parking lot. Maya thanked him and said her good night to him. It was funny that
he didn't give her silly comments like he did and that made her know that he can be serious if he wants
to. Maya walked to the front door and watched Leonel start the car the moment she got there.
And now here, looking at her husband who seemed like he was about to cry when he said those words
to her. If she didn't know better, she would think he had feelings for her. She wanted to walk away. To
get rest and think of what to do but the way her husband's eyes turned from blue to brown at the same
time made her feel sorry for him.
What are you thinking Maya?
Her subconscious asked.
"You heard me, Maya," Chris spoke up again, "if after this talk you still won't want to talk to me and
forgive me for my stupid mistakes. I'll grant you a divorce. At least you deserve to be happy."
Maybe it was time that she stopped the silent treatment in the house and it was time to get herself real
happiness that she had no idea of how it felt since she was a kid. It was time to be free and there was
only two people who would make her happy.
Leonel and Kyle.
It's about time for that long talk that was supposed to take place a long time ago. Time to know where
this marriage stands.
And Maya walked to the dinning table that was already set and sat down. She didn't look back to know
Chris was following. He sat at the head seat and open his mouth to speak.
