Chapter 112
Chapter 112
We are too old for flirty games
A look of pure terror immediately appeared on Madam Jewel‘s face, and her hands were slightly shaking out of pure panic, she glanced around the area as she tried to look calm and not show any signs of weakness, which only caused a small grin to appear on Elijah‘s face.
Staring at her shaky gaze, he knew that his guess was right, that the will Peach got wasn‘t what her grandfather actually gave to her, and that Madam Jewel was hiding his original will, but in that instant, the only thought on his mind was,‘ Why?‘
People don‘t conceal a will and allegedly kill a lawyer over it if what is written on it is not damaging to them and their families. And that is exactly what Madam Jewel did. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Being Ninety–eight percent sure that there was something out there that the Hayes feared so much for Peach to see, Elijah‘s determination became even stronger and made him ask, “Where is the will, Jewel? Hand me it, and your son walks free with all charges dropped.”
Trying to snap herself out of the feeling Elijah‘s words left her with, Madam Jewel lifted her chin high, took in a deep breath, and replied firmly, “I don‘t know what you are talking about. What Peach has is what my husband gave her, and it‘s the same for my other grandchildren and my children.”
“I see,” Elijah stated emotionlessly, and then added, “We both know that that‘s a lie. So come talk to me when Elmer has served five years in prison... Right now your hope is still high...”.
As he turned on his heels to leave, Madam Jewel frowned and said, “Even if he gets life in prison, I will not give you the will, because there‘s no will to give...”
‘You said, ‘will not,‘ instead of ‘can not... That will do exist, and I will get my hands on it one way or another.’ Elijah thought to himself, glancing back at her before he continued walking away. “Hey, wait!”
Madam Jewel called out after him, stopping him in his tracks, and he turned back, waiting for her to say something.
With her head held high, Madam Jewel spoke in a confident tone, “Two million dollars... that‘s my last offer.”
A smirk tugged at the corner of Elijah‘s mouth as he looked her in the eye, shook his head slightly, and then he walked away without uttering a single word.
Arrogant bastard!‘ Madam Jewel thought to herself, seething in anger.
A while later, when Elijah entered the office, Peach‘s gaze raised and she woke from her seat, approaching the front of the desk.
Grabbing her by the waist, Elijah lifted her off the tile and sat her on the desk, positioning himself in between her legs and resting his palms on both sides of her, flat on the wooden frame.
“What did Jewel want?” Peach questioned, placing her arms around his neck and playing with the ends of his hair. “To give me a free two million dollars... Can you believe that?” Elijah said with sarcasm in his voice, smiling as he saw how her jaw dropped open in disbelief. “What! Why?” “To forget about the lawsuit against Elmer… But only a fool would settle for a crumb instead of the whole pie.” A look of disbelief passed across Peach‘s features and her mouth opened, but nothing came out since she was speechless that her husband would turn down two million dollars simply like that.
After a long pause, Elijah stroked her chin, causing Peach to snap her mouth shut and smile up at him.
“Do you remember who your grandfather‘s doctor was?” Elijah asked in a low whisper.
Slowly, Peach nodded, not sure where the conversation was heading, but still, she answered, “Yeah. It was doctor, Jacob Williams... But he suddenly left the country after my grandfather died, and my father
didn‘t have the means to find out his whereabouts.” When Elijah didn‘t say anything else, Peach placed her palm on the side of his face, making him look at her, and asked, “What is it?”. “Nothing, I was just thinking about what you said about his death not being of natural cause. That‘s all,” Elijah muttered under his breath, knowing that he might have to travel out of the country if he wanted to know more. After an hour‘s drive, the driver brought the car to a stop in front of the shabby building, and madam Jewel looked over at the window as the windshield slowly slid down.
Noticing that the lock was still on the door, Madam Jewel‘s brows snapped together, and she pulled out her phone, strolled through her contacts, and stopped at Scorpio‘s number.
After she dialed it, her eyes grew dark when his phone rang and then went.

straight to voicemail. ·
As anger clouded her eyes, she dialed again, and then a moment later, she heard his familiar voice ask, “Who is this?”
“What do you mean by who is this?! Have you not saved my number yet!?” Madam Jewel screamed, her voice sounding strained and angry. “And you are?”
“Madam Jewel? Madam Jewel Hayes!! Does your dumb ass know who I am now?” “What do you want, Madam Jewel Hayes?”
A wild laugh escaped her lips and she leaned back against her seat in disbelief, looking red from anger and frustration.
“Where are you?! Come out, I am waiting for you,” Madam Jewel demanded, glaring at the door, then the lock on it. “You are waiting for me, where?” Scorpio questioned, and she could hear the confusion
in his voice, making Madam Jewel grit her teeth in rage. “Here! At this house! Right now!!!” “I don‘t know what place you are talking about, ma‘am.” Feeling like she was talking to a dumb fool who had lost his memories, Madam Jewel took a moment to collect herself and said, “Just come out already. I can tell you‘re scared because of what prison is like, but all you have to do is be careful killing Elijah, and you get thirty thousand from me... I can even fly you out of the country.” “Ma‘am, never call me again, and if you do, I will send the phone recording of this conversation over to the police.” Scorpio threatened. Desperate, her expression turning into a grimace, Madam Jewel yelled, “Fine! One million dollars, but you get it after Elijah is dead!”
The call ended in her ear, and she started hitting call buttons again and calling him twice more, each time going straight to voicemail, and she threw her phone on the passenger seat in frustration.
“What the hell is going on?!” Madam Jewel exclaimed angrily, looking at the phone and glaring at it like it had betrayed her.
Then she picked it up, drawing a deep breath and dialed a number, and after a moment, a cold, husky man‘s voice picked up the phone. “Hello?”. “Jacob, your little pest betrayed me... I can‘t believe he went to jail for you, but now, he has run off with my twenty thousand dollars, allowing that parasite to

still be breathing down my family‘s neck!”
“Calm down Jewel, and come over let‘s have a drink like the good old days.”
“We are too old for flirty games... I have a lot on my plate.”
“Then let me take some off, huh? Come on Jewel, stop pushing me into the dark and let me ease your mind.”
“You know why I do that... We can‘t...” Madam Jewel said with a pause, a look of hesitation flashing across her face before she finally relented, sighing in defeat,” Fine... ”
Standing outside the door, Rookie and Ryan exchanged looks of concern before Ryan knocked, and then a moment later, Elijah‘s voice echoed through the door,“ Come in,”
Following his voice through, Rookie and Ryan stepped inside, finding Elijah sitting at his desk, his expression unreadable as he stared away from his phone.
“You texted us to meet you?” Ryan questioned curiously, as Rookie shut the door behind them. “Everything alright?”. “Please sit,” Elijah responded calmly, gesturing toward the chairs in front of him, “I‘ll be brief... I know that you and Rookie know about Mr. Hayes‘ will...”
Silently, Ryan and Rookie took a seat on the chairs, nodding and waiting patiently for him to continue.
Taking a deep breath, Elijah began, “I messed up with handling Mr. Meeks because I didn‘t know the gravity of the situation, and it‘s been a while, and even though his body has not been found, we can only assume the worst... That‘s why I don‘t want to mess this one up...”
“What is it, boss?” Rookie asked nervously, noticing the solemn look in Elijah‘s eyes and the look of seriousness in his demeanor.
“Apparently, Peach heard her grandfather say to his doctor that he didn‘t want to see a particular group of people while he was in the hospital, and she said that he sounded enraged… Now, I want to know who these people are, and only Jacob Williams, his doctor, knows their names. I believe he knows way more than that because Mr. Hayes died shortly after Peach overheard that conversation.”
“You want us to find this Jacob Williams location for you?” Rookie asked, leaning back and crossing his arms.
For a moment, quietness filled the room before Elijah answered, “Yes... I am hoping that he knows more about Mr. Hayes‘s last days and words...” “Jacob Williams… We will get right on it... Starting from the hospital he works
at.” Ryan said confidently.
“Well, Peach said that he traveled out of the country right after Mr. Hayes‘s death,” Elijah explained, as he watched Ryan‘s face fall, “But to where... Is the mystery you guys need to help me find out.” An awkward silence fell upon the room for several seconds until Ryan cleared his throat, and then told the others, “Well, I am not sure, but running off after your patient dies is quite suspicious.”
“I know... If Mr. Hayes died and Jacob refused to speak with Albert about his father‘s death... Then that‘s weird and a couple of things are not adding up.” Elijah replied, rubbing his temples and sighing deeply. “Jacob could either be a friend or a foe.”
The three men were silent, not saying anything, and then Ryan leaned forward and tapped his fingers lightly on his thigh, asking, “We will do our best to find him, boss.” “Yeah, we will,” Rookie confirmed, nodding his head. “Good,” Elijah stated softly, taking another sip of the coffee on the desk and looking towards his men, “Why you handle that, I will ruffle Elmer‘s feathers a little and see what I can get out of him about the will.”
