Chapter 22 Opposition
Nku turned down his stare to the paper and started reading: ZIU TECH INC, KOWLOON CHINA CEO: Ziu Lee, NATIONALITY: Chinese, MERCHANDISE: Software And Apps DATE OF BIRTH: 5th April, 1969, NET WORTH: 100 Billion Dollars EDUCATION: UNEDUCATED HOBBY: Traveling And Investing, VISION: TO OWN The World Come 2023 QUOTE: You Must Steal From Others To have More, THREAT: Intelligent People. When Nku looked at Azuaka, his face was not less than the appearance of one that came out of the flame. He glanced at it for one more time before looking at Azuaka again. Face-stoned, he said, how did you get this? He asked, still stunned.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
“From an ally of mine that reside in China.”
“The asshole is not even educated.”
“That man is an embodiment of disaster. He breathes disaster.”
“We are in for trouble,” Nku growled hard.
“Take a look at his vision, quote and threat. We are the reason he is in California then, because we are his threats.”
“I will summon the boys immediately. We are not selling anything,” Nku said, stroking his hair. He had never been so scared. His thought was running and ticking like time bomb.
“That is my first reason. My second reason is why did the Chinese come through Ferguson? You programmed the software; you are virtually the beast behind the bite so why did he come through Ferguson and not you? We really need to be careful of that son of a gun called Ferguson. For chrissake we are Americans. We shouldn’t let some foreigners to show us road to our villages. That is unlike Americans.” He touched Nku on the shoulders and said, “Do you understand?”
He shook his head, “Yes, yes.”
Everywhere became chaotic suddenly. Nku and Azuaka turned around to see a young man running to their side and shouting, “There are two of the wanted bandits! There are two of the wanted bandits! Look at them! Criminals! In a twinkle of an eye they were gathered by a handful of noisy young men and women, tossed around in the restaurant. They were asking to know why they were been gathered yet they could not hear themselves.
“What the hell!” Azuaka shouted. He had seen through the window posters of them on a wanted display.
“What is happening?” asked Azuaka, confused to his soul.
He pointed to the posters, “We are being wanted, son of man!” he shouted, death crawling in his voice.
“No, this is not my end,” said Azuaka, aiming at a sizeable beer bottle. He dragged through the mob that held him, took the bottle and off it went on the head of one of the mob. Blood pumped from the victim’s head and others backed off at one moment. One man was still holding Nku by the helm of his cloth. Nku gave him a nod in the face and he staggered to a corner. They took to their heels. The mob went after them. After a few kilometers, they saw a crowded market that was buying and selling and they ran into it. That was it. They had escaped death for the first time in Lagos. It was late already; the mob couldn’t locate them when they got there.
The boys looked at each other; they all disguised as women. Nku disguised as an Arab woman, Azuaka as a poor Arab woman with colorful Hijab across his head, Agu bought Azuaka’s idea of an Arab woman when he faulted his mad woman’s attire, saying it would attract attention. Ferguson disguised as a ragged mad woman. At first Azuaka kept arguing within himself who taught him the exact attire of a mad woman. But it was Opula who dressed him up; it was her idea too. It was on the Eve of New Year that they gathered. Silence clouded over them for a brief moment.
“It is no news that we are being wanted by the police. Our appearance has it to say. A stake of ten million dollars is for anybody that catches us,” said Nku, casting a stare across the three. “The question is who leaked it?”
“Happy New Year!!” a few infant voices sounded outside.
“That is what we want to know,” said Azuaka Jnr. “Who leaked it. All I know is that it is any of us here or the Chinese that leaked it. It isn’t far from it.”
Could it be Opula? No, she can’t be the one, thought Agu.
It can’t be Opula and it can’t be Mr. Ziu either because he wants to buy the software, thought Ferguson.
Every finger points at Mr. Ziu then, considering his bio data, thought Nku. He lifted the papers, “Son of man, I have something that’ll awe you guys.”
Their faces seemed motionless as they zoomed in their eyes on Nku.
Nku agreed within himself to put it on himself as the one that discovered the information about Mr. Ziu because of how Ferguson and Agu might feel about it should they know that Azuaka brought the information. “I made my personal discoveries about Mr. Ziu. Almost everybody in the world knows Ziu Tech, except me, so my instinct led me into some exciting study about Mr. Ziu and the hook caught the fish.” He read out loud:
“Absurd,” said Agu by the time Nku was done.

“Son of man,” said Nku, “A bullet has been shot at us and we have the right to wear a bullet proof or remain bare and get shut.”
“What do you mean, then?” asked Ferguson. I hope you don’t go against selling the software, he thought.
“We are not selling the software to anybody anymore. We explore,” said Nku, casting a stony look across them.
Bang! Silence hung over them.
“Yes we explore,” said Azuaka Jnr.
Ferguson scowled. The ridges on his face was like the ones formed by a caterpillar in a soil. “But those data are mere insinuations of a great man. It has nothing to do with the leak.”
“I know,” Nku cut in.
“Besides, if we sell the software it will help us hide in our niches until the police are tired of searching. Exploring means going out there to search for bank accounts, which could expose us to the police.”
Danger ahead…
