Chapter 14 The Kiss was Planted Just Like That
Chapter 14 The Kiss was Planted Just Like That
Edward studied Susan who was just inches away from him, and despite the fact that she looked very
composed on the surface just like when she was still working, her eyes still gave her away.
Deep down, she was completely flustered, and Edward didn’t know how to interpret her emotion at the
moment. However, something flashed through his heart as he took in her flustered look.
He approached Susan and pulled her into his embrace while saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here.”
After saying that, he looked upwards to check the time on the clock before announcing, “Alright, we
have to go downstairs now. I will be there for you.”
Susan nodded but she knew that she could no longer address Edward as her husband so casually
anymore. Although her hand was being held by Edward, she could feel beads of sweat emerging from
her palms.
When she reached downstairs, all the other family members of the Ford family were already huddled
around the dining table.
When Ruben saw that Susan and Edward were finally here, he introduced them to Kendra and Jarvis,
“Kendra, I have finishing introducing my other family members, and this person here is my younger
brother and his name is Edward, and this woman is my sister-in-law, and her name is…”
Obviously, Ruben couldn’t recall Susan’s name.
Edward added faintly, “Susan.”
“Oh, right. Susan… Susan.”
Susan looked at them and feigned ignorance especially when she laid eyes on Kendra as she nodded.
Despite her best efforts to act normally, she still couldn’t bring herself to look into Jarvis’ eyes.
“This is your new sister-in-law, and you can call her Kendra. This young one here is my son. His name
is Jarvis.”
Ruben was introducing his family with a smirk on his face.
Edward simply nodded at them before taking his place around the dining table and started to eat.
Due to Logan’s presence, the atmosphere surrounding their family gathering this time was strangely
solemn and silent.
The only thing out of place was Edward’s attitude towards Susan. Today, he was very attentive to
Susan’s needs. Normally, Susan had to remove the shell of the prawns and sent food his way, but
Edward was the one doing all that today.
The old man finally retired to his room the moment their family dinner ended.
Susan wanted to find a chance to get some fresh air, so she immediately headed to the courtyard.
Unfortunately for her, when she had just reached the courtyard, a female voice rang out behind her,
“Susan, I have totally underestimated you. I didn’t think that you were capable of infiltrating into the
Ford family.”
Susan turned around saw Kendra. She put on a smile on her face as she retorted, “You are thinking too Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
highly of me. I must thank you, Professor Hughes. If it were not for you separating Jarvis and me and
shunned me from the medical field, I would never have met Edward.”
“Humph.”
Kendra snorted coldly while eyeing Susan disdainfully, “So, in the end you are still someone who wants
to rely on men to raise your status. You must be harbouring the same ill-intentions towards Jarvis back
then.”
Susan wasn’t fazed by Kendra’s comments at all as she looked at her seriously, “If you are saying that
marring Edward is just my way of rising through the ranks, what can I make of you marrying Ruben?
Are you harbouring some ill-will too?”
Kendra was immediately angered by Susan’s words as she raised her hand in an attempt to slap
Susan.
Susan was able to grab her wrist and fling it off, “Although you are my sister-in-law, but I am here
before you, Professor Hughes. You better watch your actions.”
After saying that, Susan looked up and saw that in a small pavilion not far away, Edward was watching
them with interest.
She instantly put on a brilliant smile and walked towards Edward. She threw herself into his embrace.
“My husband, since when were you here? Have you heard everything that I have said?”
“If you don’t want me to know about that, I can pretend not to hear anything.”
There was an endless love hidden in Edward’s eyes.
“It doesn’t matter anymore!” Susan answered with a smile, “Then, do you have anything we need to
tend to later? Can we go home now?”
She didn’t want to drag this out any longer to prevent bumping into Jarvis.
“Let me fetch the keys now. Wait for me here. I’ll bring you home now.”
Edward informed Susan with a smile before disappearing into the house.
As Susan waited for Edward to return in the pavilion, Kendra had already long gone back to the house
fumingly after realizing Edward was nearby.
The wind was gentle and Susan finally felt that she could relax a little.
However, all of a sudden, a man suddenly pulled her into his embrace.
Before she could figure out what was happening, the other person kissed her just like that.
