Chapter 115 Men’s Nature
Rylan didn’t believe her. He sneered, “Do you think I’m a fool? Am I so easy to deceive?”
Freya forced a smile and continued to please, “I’m not lying to you, really. Because I also have a grudge against Elijah.”
“What grudge could you have with him?” Rylan still didn’t believe her words.
Freya patiently explained, “You said you know the relationship between Elijah and me. So, tell me, what kind of relationship do you think we have?”
She asked this partly to gauge Rylan’s attitude and partly to find out how much he knew about her and Elijah’s situation. This way, she could plan accordingly. Rylan raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t clear about the details of Elijah and Freya’s relationship. He had only heard a vague mention from Liora’s mouth, and if his subordinates hadn’t reminded him just now, he might not have remembered.
“What else could your relationship be? Of course, it’s a romantic one,” he said.
Elijah wasn’t married, and he had a woman. It could only be a romantic relationship.
Freya breathed a sigh of relief. Rylan knew about her connection with Elijah, but he didn’t know the specifics. This gave her an opportunity.
“You can investigate if you don’t believe me. He hasn’t treated me well. My leg was only recently healed enough to walk because of him. I hate him to the core. I’m willing to cooperate with you in seeking revenge. I want revenge for myself too.”
Rylan hesitated, “I will investigate, but for now, you still have to come with me.”
Freya wanted to say more, but Rylan stopped her, “I can’t just release you based on your words alone. What if you deceive me and run away? How would I catch you then?”
Rylan might be ugly, but he wasn’t stupid.
Freya shivered against the railing, trembling all over. Her clothes were wet, and the sea breeze made her feel even colder. She crossed her arms and rubbed her arms vigorously, saying, “I can go with you, but you have to agree to one condition.”
“What condition?” Rylan asked.
“I want to stay in a hotel. You can have someone guard outside my door, watching me.”
Now she needed to change into dry clothes. With Rylan being a man and all his subordinates being men, she had to be cautious, given her previous experience with two large men. A hotel, with its many people, would provide a better chance for self-defense.
After a brief hesitation, Rylan agreed, “Fine.”
“Thank you,” Freya said politely.
Now that she was in his hands, she had to play along and be submissive.
Seeing her as a weak woman, Rylan believed she wouldn’t dare to escape. He instructed his men, “Just keep an eye on her; no need to tie her up.”
If only he knew how Freya had escaped from two large men, he might not have been so confident.
The boat docked, and Freya disembarked. She was accompanied by two men, but they didn’t touch her. Rylan let her get into his car. She didn’t resist, bending down to enter the vehicle. However, she sat close to the edge, near the car window.
“Have I seen you before?” Suddenly, Rylan asked.
Freya shook her head, “We haven’t met.”
If she remembered correctly, she had seen Rylan when he was chasing Liora at the school. However, he probably didn’t remember her.
Rylan thought for a moment but couldn’t recall where he might have seen her. He felt a strange sense of familiarity, but the exact details eluded him.
“Maybe I’m mistaken,” Rylan dismissed it.
Now, his main focus was on seeking revenge against Elijah. He took Freya to a hotel and assigned two men to watch over her. Then he sent someone to investigate the relationship between Freya and Elijah. Whether they were involved in the way Freya claimed or not.
Inside the hotel room, Freya locked the door and secured it further with the safety latch. She then changed out of her wet clothes, hung them under the air conditioner to dry, and took a hot shower. Despite the warmth, she still sneezed.
She sniffed, feeling the heat of the water soothe her tired body. Wrapped in a towel, she sat on the edge of the bed and saw the telephone on the bedside table. She picked it up and dialed Orion’s number.
The call connected quickly. However, Orion was once again drunk. Lately, he had been drinking almost every day.
“Orion, please contact Elijah for me,” Freya said.
Orion, inebriated, responded, “Is that you, Freya? If you want to reach Elijah, just call him yourself…”
Sounds of pouring alcohol echoed from the other side.
Freya lowered her voice, “Orion, please stop drinking.”
“Why can’t I drink? She can betray me.” He chuckled, a mixture of disappointment, sadness, and acceptance in his tone.
“Orion, listen to me. I only remember your number, so I called you. I’ve been captured by someone, in a hotel. Please inform…”
Freya’s words were cut off as the room’s door suddenly knocked. Startled, she quickly hung up the phone. On the other end, Orion Russo, too intoxicated to comprehend Freya’s words, found the call abruptly ending strange.
Freya put on her clothes, went to the door, and opened it.
It was Rylan Hawke. Seemingly returning after a brief departure, he probably thought Freya might use the phone to contact the outside. He walked in, glancing towards the telephone on the table.
“Did you contact Elijah?” he asked.
Freya didn’t remember Elijah’s number; otherwise, she would have called him earlier.
She smiled, “No.”
Rylan didn’t believe her and instructed someone to check the call records at the front desk.
Freya wasn’t nervous at all because she hadn’t called Elijah. Soon, the person who checked the records returned, saying, “This room did make a call, but not to Elijah.”
Freya smiled, “See? I didn’t lie to you.”
Rylan tentatively believed her.
“As long as you help me with one thing, I can let you go,” he said.
Freya asked, “What thing?”
“I’ve roughly understood. Indeed, Elijah hasn’t treated you well. I’ve learned about what you said. Since he is a common enemy for both of us, how about we cooperate against him?” He handed Freya a white bottle, “You can get close to Elijah and put this in his food; that would complete the mission.”
Freya took it, unable to determine what kind of medicine it was due to the lack of instructions. She asked, “Is this poison?”
Rylan replied, “No, it’s a drug that makes people neurologically weak. After prolonged use, it turns them into lunatics. Let him live but become insane, making him a joke in Urbora City. That’s the real punishment, don’t you think?”
Rylan’s heart was indeed ruthless.
Holding the medicine, Freya agreed without hesitation, “I promise you.”
Internally, she couldn’t help but smirk, finding Rylan Hawke not too clever. Once Elijah became a fool, would he still care about others’ opinions?
“Very well, since you’re so obedient, it saves me a lot of trouble,” Rylan said satisfactorily.
His gaze swept around the room, asking, “Are you pleased with where you live?”
“Yes, I’m quite pleased.” After a pause, she asked, “When will you allow me to leave?”
“I could release you now, but to ensure you don’t turn against me, you need to leave me some leverage,” Rylan said with a smile.
Freya frowned, “What kind of leverage do you want?”
Rylan appraised her, “Something that can threaten a woman. It’s only fair if you take nude photos. With that leverage, I can feel more secure.”
Freya’s face immediately darkened. She clenched her hands, resisting the urge to explode.
“Don’t think my request is unreasonable. After all, I need to protect myself!” Rylan justified.
Freya lowered her gaze, a sudden idea forming. “Okay, but you take the pictures. This room should only have you.”
Rylan was happy to oblige, letting his subordinates leave the room. While he closed the door, Freya picked up a glass and intentionally dropped it on the ground.
“What’s going on?” Rylan turned back.
Freya smiled, “Oops, accidentally knocked over the glass.”
She crouched down to pick up the pieces, leaving one shard.
“Take off your clothes.” Rylan urged, eager to see if Freya’s body matched her beautiful face.
Freya smiled, approaching him, “You want to see?”
Rylan didn’t hide his desire, “Men like beautiful women, it’s in our nature…”
As he spoke, Freya suddenly reached for him, a sharp object quickly pressing against his neck.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
