Accidentally Married

Branch Fifty

Jessica had her driver drop off Leslie at her house. Both girls said goodbye to each other before Jessica went back home. Jessica was late for lunch preparation so she would just make dinner.

The driver delivered the bags of clothes they had purchased to Angel who moved the clothes to the room.

“Where is Dawson?” Jessica asked as she entered the kitchen with Roselle on her tail.

“He is having a nap” Roselle responded.

Dawson was going to wait for Jessica to make a meal for him but seeing that Jessica was not coming on time he had lunch made by one of the kitchen staff and then went to bed.

“What of Lady Genevieve?” Jessica followed up when the lady who appeared out of nowhere dropped in her mind.

“She left since morning and is yet to return” Roselle answered.

“Okay Thank you,” Jessica said turning to go freshen up. She would make dinner but she would have to change her clothes and freshen up first.

“What is Dawson and Xavier’s favorite food?” Jessica said stopping as she was going out of the kitchen.

“Anything they can eat. Although the young master does like mac and cheese occasionally” Roselle answered.

“Okay then, can you prep for mac and cheese and chicken?” Jessica asked softly.

“Yes, young lady,” Roselle said bowing a little.

Jessica entered the room. She dropped her bag on the vanity table before sitting on the bed to think. ‘All the money she spent today was it really worth making her rich? Was she going to spend more? Was she going to spend more than money?’

Her phone rang and she stood up to get the phone out of her bag. It was Burke. Since the scandal, she had not heard from him. She has even started to forget about him.

She stared at her phone. She was unsure of what emotions she felt at that moment. What was the reason this man was calling her now? Was he about to cause another round of trouble for her? She watched the phone ring and the call cut off before it entered into voice mail.

“Hello, Jessica. Errm….. I don’t know what to say but can you give me a call once you get this? I must speak to you immediately. Ermmm… bye. Please call me” He said before the line beeped.

Jessica went back to sit down. What could be so important that he needed her to call him back? Was this him wanting her back? For some reason, she liked the idea that was brewing in her mind. Could it be that he had finally come back to his senses after a month?

She so badly wanted to call him but could not find her hand to do so. The phone started vibrating in her hand and it startled her. She smiled when she saw it was Burke. She could use this as an excuse. She did not call him. He called her back and she was only going to hear what he had to say.

“Hello Jessica”

Burke’s voice was just how she remembered it. Deep and smooth. It made her stomach feel like something whizzing through a bottomless pit.

“Hello Burke,” she said trying to keep her voice steady.

“I have been trying all day to reach you,” he said.

She felt like shouting that she would divorce Xavier and come back if he would accept her. Xavier did not love her anyways. She would spare herself the heartbreak of the future by taking a walk now.

“Oh okay, for what?” Jessica responded feeling nervous. She felt her hands slip off her phone as swear lubricated them.

She stood up and went to look at herself in the mirror. She tried to steady her breathing. She was not sure what he wanted to ask her but she was going to say yes to him in a heartbeat. This would prove to Leslie that she did not like Xavier. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“I went to the Real estate office today” he began.

Jessica felt her stomach sink. It was obvious that Burke was not calling for a good cause. He was calling to feed his selfishness and ego.

“And?” She asked as she felt her voice rising. This was going to ruin her entire day and week. She hated this boy but she still loved him. They were together for the longest time. How could she just forget about him so easily?

“She told me you remove my name from your lease. How could you be so selfish?” he asked.

His smooth and deep voice suddenly sounded like a nuisance in Jessica’s ears. She could not believe the words he was saying.

“Selfish how?” Jessica asked.

For some reason, her blood was still calm and her senses were still with her. She did not want to start screaming in case she did not understand what he said.

“We agreed to share the proceeds from the rent or your apartment,” he said. “The realtor said you have removed my name from getting the rent” he added.

It was as if somebody suddenly started boiling Jessica’s blood. She wondered how she did not see that he had a disorder. It was as if he thought that the world revolved around him.

“Burke” Jessica breathed his name out gently.

She still had some respect for him so she did not want to scream at him. She would try to reason with him like a normal human but if he refused to be reasonable she would act as an animal.

“You do not own that building. I saved up and bought it with my money. We agreed to use the proceeds from the rent to run our family when we get married but you dumped me on our wedding day. How do you then think that you would still be a beneficiary of the rent?” Jessica asked.

She commended herself for being so calm.

“That’s why I said you are so selfish. Because I left you, you now have the opportunity to meet and marry the richest man in the city, and yet you can’t leave that small house for me?” he asked.

“WHAT MANNER OF ENTITLEMENT?”
