Chapter 5- True scent
‘Caleb, any updates?’, Dante mindlinked his friend who he knew was probably in bed with another she-wolf.
‘Nah man, I was busy dealing with a rather important issue that required my attention immediately’, Caleb chose his words carefully.
Dante gave a huge sigh. They were only supposed to stay here for one night but ever since he had that encounter with Jolene, he extended the stay for a week. He knew they were wasting important time but now that he knew he had a mate in this pack, he wanted to at least find out who it was. His heart knew it was Jolene so why did the other girl also had the same scent? Was he mistaken perhaps?
‘Just make sure you speak to the witnesses by this evening’ and with that Dante closed the mindlink. This was only supposed to be a regular mission but he could not stop thinking about Jolene and her gorgeous vibrant hair. He wanted to see more of her. No, he NEEDED to see her and know if she really was his mate.

‘What do we do now?’, Lucy asked Jo confused, they were still standing outside Dante’s door.
‘Well, he did dismiss us meaning we are free to go and do whatever we want’, Jo clapped excitedly. ‘Lucy, you told me you didn’t have any hobby. Well let’s go back to our room and I will share something special with you!’.
Lucy grinned widely as they walked back to the shared room giggling.

‘This is it. I present to you the world’s greatest treasure. A vampire novel!’, with that Jo carefully removed her pillow to reveal the book she was currently reading.
Lucy gasped at the sight. ‘Jo! Aren’t vampire novels banned in our world. If our Alpha finds out, you could get into serious trouble’.
‘That’s why I told you its a secret. It took me a great deal of smuggling and bribing to get them in through the pack borders but they are worth it! This book is about my sweet Leo and Daisy’, Jo said as she hugged the book and placed it closer to her chest.
Lucy started laughing at her newly found friend. ‘I am honoured to share your secret now. Although I am not much a reader’. Those were the famous last words Lucy said as she spent the next three hours reading the novel Jo handed her.
Jo walked into the room to check on Lucy carrying a plate of fruits. She placed some grapes in her mouth as she watched Lucy completely engrossed in the novel. So much for not being a reader, aha!
‘So, can I have my book back? I am on chapter 17’, Jo casually said sitting on her bed with a smirk playing on her lips.
‘NO! Please I need to know why Daisy is trying to run away from Drake. She is so dumb! Drake loves her a lot and she keeps trying to escape, big oof!’, Lucy replied with clear frustration straining her voice.
A big laughter echoed in the shared room as Jo watched Lucy scratch her blonde head and start reading again.
‘Well welcome to my world! Which chapter are you on right now? Has the character Cami…’, Jo started before Lucy stopped her with a finger in the air.
‘Uh huh, no spoilers please. I am only in chapter 12 right now’, Lucy spoke again frustrated.
Just when Polly walked in through the door and eyed the room as anger started rising within her. ‘What are you two girls doing here!? You both were supposed to be serving General D. Castiel. He is a freaking general! Do you have any idea how mad our Alpha will be if he finds out no was attending to the general?’.
‘We got dismissed by him. And being the good obedient omegas we are, we came back to our rooms’, Jo made a sarcastic comment infuriating Polly more.
‘Jo this isn’t the correct time for jokes. Even if you were dismissed, you know you need to stand outside the doors in case he needs you. Now off you both go back! Alpha Jayden has invited all the generals for a hunt and just pray the general has not complained about the lack of hospitality in Dark Slayer’s pack’, Polly ordered the two girls making them immediately leave the room. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
As they walked back to the General’s room, Jo stomped her feet angrily.
‘Are you okay, Jo?’, Lucy questioned her visibly angry friend.
‘I am not! Being an omega sucks. You get constantly interrupted and get sent to work. I hate it’, Jo replied with her eyes only watching the path in front of her.
‘Well lucky we are both getting out of this pack soon then huh?’
‘Yes, CANNOT WAIT’, Jo emphasized the last words clearly.
‘Cannot wait for what?’, the familiar deep voice came from behind making both the girls jump in surprise. Much to Jo’s discontentment, it was General Dante again.
‘Greetings general. We were just about to attend to your chambers to ask if you required anything at all?’, Lucy articulated slowly as she kept her head down.
‘Well ladies, I am all good, just heading to the hunting ground. But I am sort of lost honestly’, the general tried to look confused to see if Jolene would be offering to help.
We can aid you to the hunting ground rightaway’, Lucy offered as Jo kept silent beside her.
‘Thank you Lucy. I was thinking Jolene here could help instead’, he said eyeing Jo again who had a blank expression on.
‘Sure, GE-NE-RAL’, Jo snickered. ‘Follow me’.
Jo walked in front as Dante followed her shortly leaving Lucy standing alone.

‘So Jolene. what’s your back history?’, the General broke the silence as they continued to walk towards the hunting ground.
‘My back history is none of your business, General’, Jo retorted not even looking at him.
‘Then why are you masking your scent?’, he asked making Jo stop right in her tracks. Her heart started pounding hard in her chest.
‘How did he know? Heck, this was bad’, Jo thought to herself as she gulped hard and turned back to face the amused general.
‘I don’t know what you are talking about’, Jo’s voice was stuttering as she said that despite her best efforts to maintain a calm posture.
The general did not reply as he just closed the distance between them. He was standing dangerously close to Jo as they got locked in a heated eye contact. Jo’s hazel eyes staring strongly back at the General’s golden swirly eyes.
‘You cannot fool me Jolene. Unmask your real scent right now!’, he barked at her using his Alpha’s aura. Jo started getting weak at her knees as she felt his aura pressing more and more on her. It was getting harder for her to breath.
‘Leave me.. alonee’, Jo squeaked though the mounting pressure she felt.
Dante shook his head sideways as he reached out to take her hands. ‘Not until you reveal your true scent’. As soon he grabbed her hands and pulled her closer, she inhaled the woody scent again.
‘Why does he smell so good?’, she wondered as the general waited for her to do as he asked.
‘This could be a trap. That’s right, he was probably a spy from her previous home’, Jo’s thoughts pondered inside her head.
She could not risk revealing her true scent. Not to this possible spy, not to anybody! How did her life of laying low turn this chaotic so fast? She started praying to her goddess as the general continued watching her next move…
