Chapter 55
Chapter 55
“Although Mikayla has indeed been a bit annoyingly persistent, considering you haven’t divorced yet, wouldn’t it be inappropriate?” Connor asked Jerome.
Jerome retorted impatiently, “Spill it if you’ve got something to say. Otherwise,
get out.”
The secretary happened to bring tea at that moment. Connor handed it to
Jerome, trying to be friendly.
*Jerome, have some tea. It’ll soothe your throat.”
Jerome’s throat was indeed uncomfortable, so he took the drink.
*Jerome, you must know why I’m here!”
Once the secretary left, Connor began pleading, “My old man values Luxze Bay Development a lot. If you turn it down, I’m telling you, I won’t have a shred of
freedom for the next few months–heck, the entire year. He’ll haul me into the company and make me study there!”
Jerome said, “Good. My ears could use some peace.”
“Jerome, you can’t do this,” Connor whimpered.
“Have you forgotten back in school when you and Taylor were fighting? Who disregarded everything and rushed in to help you? Remember the time when I got kicked? I bled and almost fainted
because I got distracted trying to help.
you.”
Connor sighed.
“You must acknowledge the loyalty of a brother willing to go to great lengths for you!”
Jerome rubbed his forehead, “Make another detailed letter of intent. Do it yourself, and explain the well–prepared project details.”
I can’t do that!”
Connor frowned.
“Then take your loyalty and work at your father’s company,” Jerome retorted.
“Fine, fine, I’ll do it!”
Connor’s psychological resilience was always strong. He accepted it instantly
and still had the mood to gossip.
“Jerome, even though it’s good to meet a girl you like, you can’t be two–timing. Should I talk to Mikayla and ask her to let go sooner?”
Jerome glared at Connor, “Get out. Don’t step into my office without my
permission.”
Connor wondered why Jerome had become so unpredictable.
He had angered Jerome twice about Mikayla. Indeed, it was because he didn’t
know how to handle her troubles.
“I get it, Jerome. I’ll leave right away.”
Before leaving the office, Connor added, “Rest assured, brother, I’ll always support you and stand by your side!”
Jerome closed his eyes, too tired to deal with him.
Mikayla woke up close to noon.
She had been contemplating whether to tell Betty about Johnny’s incident. She
had fallen asleep in a daze only in the morning.
Mikayla got up from bed. She freshened up and went downstairs. Amy was preparing lunch.
“Madam, have some eggs first. The meal will take a while,” Amy said.
She served Mikayla a plate of fried eggs.
“What’s this?” This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
Mikayla pointed to a package on the table.
Amy replied, “Mrs. Miller Senior sent over the herbs this morning.”
Mikayla found it strange, “Why did Grandma send herbs for no reason?”
Amy explained that Wanda heard someone mention that Jerome’s health wasn’t great. So, she instructed Amy to prepare these herbs.
She believed they were good for nourishing the kidneys and strengthening the body. She urged Mikayla to make a bowl for Jerome every day.
Mikayla suddenly thought of the incident in the restaurant regarding the wet spot on Jerome’s pants. She couldn’t help but chuckle.
It seemed that relatives‘ mouths were not at all tight. The news had quickly reached Wanda’s ears, and she had genuinely believed it to the point of sending over medicine.
Mikayla wondered how Jerome would react when he learns about this news.
“Madam, why are you laughing? Is something wrong with the medicine?” Amy
asked.
Mikayla shook her head.
“It’s nothing. I just suddenly thought of a joke.”
Amy went back to the kitchen, and Mikayla unlocked her phone.
Celeste had updated her social media.
Apart from several beautiful landscape photos, there were also selfies of her
and her husband.
