Chapter 33
"According to the contract, page 11, number 54. Lexi Corps was supposed to produce a certain amount of products for King conglomerate but the amount we received was not even up to half of the written amount in the contract. That means Lexi Corps just breached the contract." Derek spoke, reading from the copy of the contract document that was kept on his tablet. He placed the tablet on the table and pointed at the page it was written on.
Immediately Chairman Roy picked up the tablet and read the contract, his face instantly pale and sweats started dripping down his face. "How-how can this be?" Chairman Roy stuttered. He was surprised to see that this part was added in the contract and he hadn't read it. The day Chairman Roy wanted to sign the contract, he was so ecstatic and happy that he hadn't read all the conditions written in the contract before he signed it.
"Chairman Roy, not only have you breached the contract by providing us with half the amount of products that was written in the contract. We will also file a lawsuit and request a compensation fee as well." Derek ignored the pale face of Chairman Roy and continued to speak.
"No, Mr. King, I-I know I'm at fault. However, let's discuss this amicably. If you give more time, I promise that we will complete the amount of products that were supposed to be sent. You don't have to go to that extent to terminate the contract." Chairman Roy quickly proposed. Not only would the contract be terminated, but he would have to pay compensation for breaching the contract. He can't allow that to happen. 'No, this can't happen. I will lose all the investors that recently invested in the company, including King conglomerate.' "I don't have a partnership with incompetent company. And there are no second chances." Alex coldly remarked.
Chairman Roy's face turned completely white when he heard Alex. "Mr. King-"
"Chairman Roy, be prepared to return the money we have also invested in your company as well." Derek interrupted Chairman Roy who was about to say something to Alex.
"Wh-what? Investment money?" He stuttered. He almost forgot that the King conglomerate had also invested in Lexi Corps after he signed the contract. However, that money........ the money he received.
Known for his lavish way of spending, Chairman Roy had visited many clubs, throwing countless parties out of joy that he had finally signed a contract with King conglomerate. All the money he spent was none other than the money he had received as investment. Because of his lavish spending, it was also one of the things that had affected meeting the written products that were supposed to be produced.
"1-1, Mr. King, please listen to me and give us more time. We will meet up with the production. Please have some mercy on me. I admit that I made a mistake but I can recorrect it if you give me more time." Chairman Roy begged, the smile he had on his face earlier had disappeared and replaced with fear. And at this point, Chairman Roy knew that if news about this got out, the other investors would also withdraw their investment and that means bankruptcy is knocking on his door.
"Chairman Roy, I'd advise you to take your leave now." Derek said, his eyes flashing with a dangerous glint.
Chairman Roy swallowed the rest of his words when he saw the glare he received from Derek. He knew better than anyone else that he shouldn't push it any further. He could only gritted his teeth and stand up from his seat before walking away.
Just at that same moment, there was an uproar from the guests.
"Here comes the Grays."© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Beatrice walked in with her daughters by her side and instantly impressed everyone at present.
Her beauty and glamor were
tantalizing. Even though she was a mother of two children, she had retained her charm wonderfully. She wore a dark wine colored wrap dress that showed off her curves. Extravagant pearls adorned the white shawl around her shoulders and screamed for attention. She was wearing an expensive jewelry set around her neck and ear.
On the other hand, Sophia was wearing an elegant floor-length royal blue strapless mermaid dress with hand embroidered side-drape. She matched her dress with a sparkling diamond necklace, fully displaying adorableness and magnificence. They dazzled, and they knew they did, especially Sophia. She raised her chin up, showing pride and superiority. As expected, the spotlight shone on her wherever she was.
Alex heard the murmuring from the crowd, he looked at the direction, and spotted the Grays. Though fascinating the mother and daughter did look, he was captivated by the comparatively plain-looking figure next to them.
'It looks like these two aren't going
to get what they are planning for. That girl isn't a naïve one. She knows how to play. It's a good thing I decided to bring myself here tonight to witness her in action. Alex thought. When he was in the car on his way to the party, Derek had shown him footage of the jewelry shop while he was in the private room. It wasn't hard for Derek to get his hand on something like that in just a few hours and he was pleased to see how efficiently Derek worked.
The footage started when Rose and Sophia walked into the jewelry shop and he had closely watched everything that went on until he came out of the VIP room along with Cara. He had also seen how Rose was the only person to have a different expression on her face throughout the entire drama that
Cara had caused.
After he watched that video, Alex finally knew that Rose was a normal typical young girl. She was way smarter than what look and he was sure that she was present because she had a task to unfinish. However, just about two tables away from where Alex and Derek sat down. There was a small group of gentlemen sitting at the next table and they were astounded by Sophia's presence.
Peter Allen, one of the men sitting at the table, caught sight of Sophia and gazed in awe, "As expected of the Gray family. Miss Sophia is really a true beauty."
