Chapter 52
"Beatrice told me that you said you will take our school exam? Isn't that's why you're here?" Headmistress Moore quickly composed herself and got back to business. "Yes. I would like to start the exam now if you don't mind." Rose said as she looked at the Headmistress.
"Ah, yes. I will have them prepare the papers now. Please take a seat and wait." Headmistress Moore gestured to the couch in her office while she called her assistant desk number and gave a few instructions to her before hanging up.
"Mr. Anderson, do you have some other business here in my office?" Headmistress Moore asked, turning her attention to the boy who had accompanied Rose.
"No." He curtly replied, still sitting down on the couch.
Headmistress Moore eyed him. "You can go back to your class Mr. Anderson. Thank you for bringing Miss Rose here." She finally said, making sure she sounded as respectful as she could. Even if she was the headmistress of this academy, there are certain students she can't afford to offend because of their family background and Mr. Anderson is one of those people.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
"I have no class. And I want to stay unless my presence is disturbing you. Besides, I brought her here, so I will leave if she is done here because she can get lost on her way out." He calmly told her pointing a finger at Rose who had already taken her seat. Headmistress Moore said nothing else and just nodded her head at him, leaving him to do whatever he wanted.
Rose frowned upon hearing the conversation between the two people in the office apart from her. 'Smart kid. You think I don't know what you're doing? But it's okay, this big sister will let you use her as an excuse to skip class for today just because you were helpful today."' She thought, knowing what he was trying to do. However, she didn't know that he had stayed behind out of curiosity.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door and the headmistress gave her permission before the door opened and a middle aged man walked.
"Headmistress Moore, I was told that you called for me?" He said as he closed the door behind him.
"Mr. Hughes, I did. Sorry for
disturbing your teaching section, but I need your help. This is Miss Rose and she is a transfer student from abroad, she just arrived here about a week ago and would like to join our academy. However, according to our school policy she has to take the enrollment examination which she had agreed to do. Your job here, Mr. Hughes, is to supervise Miss Rose." Headmistress Moore quickly gave Mr. Hughes a brief information of who Rose was excluding the part that she's from the Gray family and told him his job.
"Miss Rose, please say hello to Mr. Hughes. He would be in charge of your examination period." She said, turning to look at Rose.
"Hello, pleasure to meet you sir." Rose nodded at Mr. Hughes. Her mature action taking the people in the room aback again including Mr. Hughes who just arrived. His gaze glued on the beautiful girl in front of him. Normally, any girl who possesses this kind of face would be arrogant to the core and that was what he was expecting but he was shocked seeing how polite and mature Rose acted.
'Should I have act less mature and act my age?' Rose thought to herself, seeing how her small action was drawing people's attention to her. No one knew that she wasn't the regular person she appeared to be but she didn't plan to explain that to them.
Mr. Hughes nodded his head at Rose to acknowledge her greetings before turning to look at Headmistress Moore. "Headmistress, did I hear you correctly? You said that Miss Rose here just arrived back in the country about a week ago and she wants to take the enrollment examination." Mr. Hughes said, staring at headmistress Moore with a conflicted emotion.

Headmistress Moore, clearly knew what Mr..Hughes was thinking currently. She also had the same conflicted emotion when Beatrice had called her and told her about Rose. At first she thought it was a joke when she heard that a girl who just arrived in the country a week ago would like to take the school enrollment examination. A week of studying isn't enough to take the exam because of the hard question in the exam paper. However, her view changed a bit when she saw Rose's accomplishment report from the school she attended abroad.
"Yes, Miss Rose will be taking the enrollment examination today." Headmistress Moore finally replied to Mr. Hughes before looking at Rose. "Isn't that right, Miss Rose?" She asked.
"You're correct, Headmistress Moore. I am taking the exam."
"Are you sure about that Miss Rose? This exam isn't like any other examination because the questions you'd see in the paper are questions that were formed by this school personally." Mr. Hughes blurted out. He couldn't believe that a girl who just arrived in the county a week ago would want to take the school personal examination.
'Did she think it's a joke or what? It's understandable if she used her family influence to get enrolled in the school rather than wanting to take the exam which is obviously waste of time because she can't pass. What does a girl from a wealthy family know?' Mr. Hughes thought. To him, he didn't feel like Rose could pass the exam because he could tell that she was from a wealthy family just by looking at her and by how headmistress Moore was speaking respectfully to her.
Rose frowned upon hearing Mr. Hughes. She could see the doubtful expression on his face.
"I'm very much aware of what I came here for and I don't think I made a mistake when I said I was going to take the exam." Rose said, her voice turned a bit cold as her expression remained calm except for her narrowed gaze.
