Chapter 17 Ethan Is Gone
Chapter 17 Ethan Is Gone
In the next second, Margery heard Melvin's insult, which was enough to make her mad. "What are you startled for? What have you been doing? Tell the truth, and you'll receive a lighter sentence. Did you secretly meet with a male doctor behind my back? You almost got caught; is that why you were so frightened?"
"Melvin, can you be a bit more serious?"
Margery glared at him angrily then bent down so Bonnie could stand on her own. Margery shook her sore arms and took her purse back from Melvin. She held Bonnie's hand on one side and Ethan's hand on the other as she walked toward the elevator entrance without looking back.
Golden was about to catch up from behind. She happened to have a small fruit knife in her purse and was afraid that she would not be able to control her impulses that she would stab him.
She would be going easy on him if she stabbed him and killed him!
He killed her baby, Andrew. She swore that she would make him experience double the suffering and pain that she had gone through so that he would rather be dead than alive.
What nonsense to tell the psychiatrist that he only had feelings for his ex-wife! What a lie!
If he only had feelings for her, then why would he be obsessed with Vivian?
He even went as far as burning her and Andrew to death to marry Vivian and protect Vivian so that she would not be called "the other woman".
Margery sneered slightly as the unbearable hatred she harboured flickered in her eyes.
"Mommy, don't walk so quickly. I still want to look at the handsome uncle and ask him if he wants to be my boyfriend."
Bonnie was thinking about the cool and handsome uncle that she turned her head back to look with every few steps she took. She dragged out the last words of her sentence, sounding whiny and endearing. She appeared aggrieved and pitiful as she looked at Margery with tears in her eyes.
"No way."
Looking at her daughter's pitiful appearance as if she was about to shed tears, Margery hardened her heart to refuse.
"Mommy, if you don't agree, I won't leave," Bonnie whined.
"How dirty!"
Ethan snorted and frowned. He took out a clean handkerchief from his pants pocket and wiped off the saliva from the corner of Bonnie's mouth in disgust.
"What handsome uncle?" Melvin moved close to Margery, clutching his heart and shouting in pain, "Margery, did you really see another man behind my back? Who was it? Which department is the male doctor from? How dare he steal a woman from me! I'm going to get revenge on him."
The man in front of her who would occasionally become a drama king gave Margery a headache. "Brother Melvin. My big brother. My dear brother. Can you stop making trouble? I'm not in the mood to see men."
"Then tell me, who is the handsome uncle Bonnie was talking about?" Melvin refused to give up.
"The handsome uncle is just an uncle who is a doctor. He is the most handsome man I've ever seen, but only slightly more handsome than Ethan." Bonnie kindly smiled at Ethan, who wiped her saliva. She suddenly turned her head and saw the handsome man walk toward her with a sullen expression on his face. Her big eyes twinkled immediately. "Mommy, he's here. Right behind us."
Having heard Bonnie, Margery lowered her head reflexively, not wanting the man who should go to hell to see her face.
But soon she came back to her senses. She really did not need to hide.
Because her face was no longer gentle and elegant.
In the past five years, he had not changed at all while she had become unrecognizable.
Her plastic surgery was a success, and she looked so charming that men could never forget her. But for Golden, she was a stranger he had never seen before.
It was very likely that he would not know that she was her even if she stood in front of him.
Margery suddenly felt a sense of pleasure from taking revenge. She quickly pushed Ethan and Bonnie into the empty ward behind her then slowly and gently told the two to keep quiet.
As soon as she finished, she heard Melvin yelling angrily, "Who are you? How dare you steal my woman and my daughter? Do you have a death wish?"
The sudden shouting stopped Golden in his tracks. A pair of eyes fell on Melvin, who was furious. Golden narrowed his eyes and ridiculed, "Looks like Mr. Collins is in a good mood."
"Fuck, you look like a person from a distance and a beast from up close. So it was you, a beast in human clothing, who killed Margery and Andrew! Golden, it has been five years. Your hands are stained with their blood. Do you have nightmares every night?"
Hearing the words "Margery and Andrew", the man's eyes flickered, and his expression gradually turned cold. After staring at Melvin for a while, his gaze fell coldly on Margery's face but stayed there for less than a couple of seconds before he looked away. He pursed his lips and spoke reluctantly,
"These things have nothing to do with you. For her sake, I'll forgive you this time. But the next time this happens, don't blame me for taking it out on the Collins Group."
"Golden, if you are really thinking of Margery, then you should've treated her better while she was alive, not being pretentious after you killed her and Andrew. You fucking disgust me!"
When Melvin thought of the soaring flames that skyrocketed from the top of the car and wrapped its teeth and claws around the entire car and the people in it that day, he felt a wave of strange anger and resentment in his heart.
If he had not arrived in time, Margery would now be rolling in her grave like Andrew.
"Then do you want to kill me so that I can keep her company?"
The man sneered coldly with a blank expression. His narrow eyes were covered by long eyelashes, which made it impossible for people to see the slightest emotion on his face.
With a slim black suit, his tall figure looked thinner but more energetic, and his cold disposition became stronger.
"It's not worth it to kill a scum like you at the cost of my life." Melvin suddenly looked at Margery, who has been silent all this time, and smiled triumphantly. "Golden, you are bringing about your own destruction. Sooner or later, you'll suffer the consequences. Let's wait and see."
The corner of Margery's eyes twitched. She was worried that Melvin would reveal another secret in his rant, so she hurriedly pulled him over and pretended to be angry, "Didn't you say that you are going to invite me and the children to dinner? It's late, let's go."
Strangely, that fire burned her body and face but did not damage her vocal cords.
At this moment, she deliberately deepened her voice to avoid being discovered by Golden. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
But she could not change the softness and gracefulness in her nature.
Especially when she spoke, she lowered her head to avoid meeting Golden's gaze out of habit. She was just like the person in his memory.
When the man realized this, he suddenly turned to stare at Margery for a moment but did not see a trace of familiarity on her face. He closed his eyes, which were in pain and gradually darkened, and turned to enter the elevator.
Soon, the elevator doors closed, isolating him from the outside world.
After Golden left, Margery's pounding heart relaxed. She leaned weakly against the wall and exhaled slowly, "Finally, he's gone. He almost found Ethan and Bonnie."
Forget it, Bonnie barely looked like her, so nothing could be seen. But Ethan was different. He was an exact copy of Golden, just smaller.
If Golden saw Ethan, her identity would be exposed immediately.
Although it was only a matter of time before she was exposed, now was not the right time.
Melvin looked at her haunted expression and darted a look at her. "What? Did you become soft-hearted before you even started your revenge?"
Margery shook her head slowly and smiled suddenly, but the sadness on her face was enough to fill a river. "Between him and me lies Andrew's life. I won't become soft-hearted. Never!"
After going into a trance for a while, Margery took a breath and opened the door of the ward behind her to call out the two children when she heard Bonnie's surprised cry, "Mommy, Ethan is gone."
