Chapter 30 Where Is Ethan?
Chapter 30 Where Is Ethan?
When Margery arrived at the gate of the kindergarten, she was about to hop off her car immediately. However, she suddenly noticed that Vivian was standing beside a silver limousine elegantly, talking to Ms. Hall while nodding.
Seeing that, Margery decided to stay in the car.
In order not to be noticed, Margery curled herself up in the driver's seat. She tried to hide herself as much as she could. She peeped outside the car with only half of her head leaning against the window.
Then, she started to notice the kid whom Ms. Hall was hugging.
He was wearing a tailored children black suit. His tiny head was covered with soft hairs. He looked pale with his listless eyes. His thin arms hung loosely beside his thin legs.
Obviously, he seemed to be quite frustrated after being beaten. He looked pitiful just like a wounded kitty.
Margery saw clearly that it was indeed Layne, who was heavily beaten by other kids because of Ethan.
When seeing that, she was rendered a bit guilty.
She admitted that no matter how much she hated both Golden and Vivian, she still felt guilty when seeing that such an innocent kid got involved because of that.
Perhaps even Layne himself seemed to feel the sincerity coming from her eyes, he slowly turned around and looked at her car, frowning still.
When seeing his clear big eyes, Margery was rendered nervous while her heart was beating fiercely. A trace of distraction appeared on her face.
Her heart kept beating as well when she saw him last time.
The same thing happened this time.
Why?
Of course, Layne had nothing to do with her as he was Golden and Vivian's son.
Thought he was just an innocent kid, he was still Vivian's son.
Margery shouldn't hurt him. Nor should she be too soft-hearted when facing him. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
She shook her head and let out a smile out of self-mockery. Seeing that Ms. Hall put Layne on the back seat carefully and Vivian also got into the limousine, she then got off her car after the limousine drew out of the gate when Vivian posed elegantly to give order to the chauffer.
Margery hurried to the front of Ms. Hall and smiled awkwardly, "Ms. Hall, I am so sorry. I am a bit late because of the traffic jam. You are right. I should be blamed as I am Ethan's mom. Since it was he who incited other kids to beat Layne, both of us should take the responsibility. I am really sorry to bother you at work!"
Margery apologized with great sincerity. So Ms. Hall was less angry. But she still blamed with harsh voice, "Ms. Byrne, I still have to tell you that Ethan is the most aggressive kid I have ever met since my first day serving as a teacher. And Layne, who was beaten, has been taken to hospital by his mother. And I believe that you should just see that. Layne is a weak kid. He almost fainted after being beaten up. Fortunately, as generous as his mother Miss Martin is, she only asked for your apology to both Layne's parents with Ethan."
"Apologize to both his parents?" When hearing that, Margery was a bit stunned.
She was required to apologize to both Golden and Vivian with Ethan?
What if Golden noticed that Ethan looked almost the same as him!
At the thought of that, Margery couldn't help trembling. She didn't even dare to assume further.
"If you refused to apologize, his parents wouldn't forgive you. What's worse, Ethan would be expelled from the kindergarten!" Ms. Hall was surprised with her eyes wide opened, "Ms. Byrne, Layne's mom didn't even ask you for paying the medical fee and damages for Layne. And you are going to refuse to apologize? It's our first time to encounter such a tricky situation. Now it totally depends on Layne's parents to decide if Ethan could still stay in the kindergarten. Sorry, we could do nothing about it."
"Okay…"
Margery nodded and hurried to follow Ms. Hall inside, "Excuse me, where is Ethan?"
"After what happened just now, the principal asked me to lock him into a little room beside the classroom. As for those kids who got involved, they were asked to stay in the classroom and waited for reproach."
When hearing that, Margery was rendered anxious, "Where is the room? Ms. Hall, please lead the way."
Ms. Hall was also rendered a bit annoyed. She tried to hold back her madness and pointed at a room a few meters away, "Over there. He stays inside. And he still refused to apologize! I could do nothing about it. So I ask him to stay in the room as the principal has required."
Margery kept silent and hurried forward. However, the closer she approached, the more anxious she turned to be.
She was afraid that she would lose Ethan if she reached a bit later.
She rushed forward and opened the half-closed door. Then she looked around anxiously.
However, there was no one inside. Only a wooden table and a chair were left alone.
She didn't see Ethan in the room. Nor did she see him elsewhere around. Ethan was just a four-year- old kid. He should have nowhere to hide.
Margery was so agitated. She immediately turned around and stared at Ms. Hall. She yelled anxiously as if her throat was now burning, "Didn't you tell me that Ethan was here? Where is he now?"
"What…" Ms. Hall was scared when seeing the twisted face of Margery. She rushed in to search around. She even checked the drawer of the table. However, there was no way to fit such a kid in that small drawer.
Ms. Hall was also anxious when she noticed that Ethan was not in the room. She rushed out, trembling, "Ms. Byrne, don't worry. Let me check in the classroom ahead. Perhaps he went to play with his sister. That's right! I will go to Bonnie's classroom."
Ms. Hall immediately went to see Bonnie, hoping that she could find Ethan there. However, Margery was aware that there was no hope.
She knew well about Ethan. He barely made any mistake as cunning and clever as he had always been.
When he made mistakes, he would never tell his mom or Melvin about it. He always tried to make up for it with his own efforts till he solved it perfectly.
Just like his father, Golden Barrett, both of them were badly stubborn, which rendered Margery quite frustrated.
"Ethan, where are you?"
Frowning, Margery walked around the room again and again. But she still didn't see Ethan. She bit her lips so hard that it even started to swell. She had no idea what to do.
At the same time, both Ms. Hall and the principal also came over from the other side, looking panic.
Ms. Hale was even more agitated. She was no longer harsh and said in anxious tone, "Ms. Byrne, I have checked through the classroom and the area around. But I haven't found Ethan. I also went to ask Bonnie. She told me that she didn't see him either. We don't know where he headed to!"
