Chapter 22 Evidences
This night reminded me that we must not trust anyone so easily because sometimes they are not the people we think they are.
I still can’t believe everything I heard about Anne. Hearing it from Mich was already a big shock for me, what more when Lance gave me all the pieces of evidence that prove all Mich’s claims about her.
Lance was walking confidently towards our table. He has an envelope in his hand. He places it on the table in front of me.
“What’s that?” I asked while looking strangely at the envelope.
“It has all the pieces of evidence that can prove all Lieo’s claim about that woman,” Lance said with a smirk on his face.
My brow furrowed. “Why do you have this? And how did you know that we are talking about Anne? Are you secretly listening to our conversation?” I asked him.
Guilt was written all over his face. “Well, I got curious. But when I heard that woman’s name, I already knew what you guys are talking about. That is why I got all these pieces of evidence since I know that you will be needing this now.” He mumbled.
I got his point but he didn’t answer my first question.
“But why do you have this?” I asked again.
He looks at me with soft eyes. “You are my cousin, Allison. It’s only natural for me to be protective of you. I should know about all the people who are approaching you. I knew Iya, Andrew, Mike, Vince, and Lieo because they are my friends, I’m confident that they are good for you. But I don’t know anything about Anne. So I should check if she is good for you.”
My eyes widen a fraction from the shock of his statement. “So you did a background check on her? When was that?”
Lance shrugged his shoulder. “I have to. I need to be sure that you are friends with the right people. I don’t want people to take advantage of you. You’ve been away from us for 26 years and now that we found you, I will do everything to protect you.”
“A month after we met her in person, I notice that you are becoming close with her, that’s why I hired a private investigator to do a background check about her. A month after your college reunion, I got the result of the investigation. It took a while because I ask for a thorough background check. I was beyond shocked when I read all the information with pieces of evidence about her. I went to Lieo to inform him about that woman but I was already late because he already knew about it.” Lance added.
I saw Lieo smile and nod.
“That was the night I came back from America.” I can’t help but utter.
Lance nodded in agreement.
“Then why did you let her be close to Andrew? And why didn’t you tell all this to me?!” I demanded him.
“If I told all this to you, then you will not be able to achieve what you have now. You will surely go back here and reconcile with Andrew. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against your relationship with Andrew but I don’t want you to miss a great opportunity that is already in front of you.” He explained.
I gazed at him waiting for him to answer my first question. “Why did you let her be close to Andrew?” I asked again.
“I simply don’t care about Andrew. He’s old enough to do his own investigation.” He said nonchalantly.
My lips parted from his reason. Are they really friends?!
“Stop looking at me like that. I just think that Andrew needed her to make you jealous.” He defended himself.
“But why only now? If you didn’t hear my conversation with Lieo today, do you have plans on telling this thing to me?”NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
“Of course! I’m just waiting for perfect timing. And I guess this is it!” Lance said.
I nodded at him completely understanding his point. But my eyes widen when I remember something.
“Don’t tell me you also do that to Noah and Charles?!” I asked him.
He smirked. “Of course, but don’t worry those people are good for you. I support you with your friendship with them.”
I didn’t have enough sleep. I was so consumed by all the information I got last night from Mich, Lieo, and Lance. I need to find a perfect time to talk to Andrew about this. I will not allow him to be blinded by Anne anymore.
I was scheduled with the boys today. I thought of a light concept for my collaboration with them on my vlog. I want people to see their fun and cool side. I’m sure that the people will love them.
The shoot will be held in the biggest store of my favorite luxury brand, Lush. This vlog is sponsored by them. I am confident of having the boys as my model for this vlog. Aside from good looks, they also have great physiques. They can level with Noah when it comes to looks and physiques. But obviously, Noah is more experienced than them.
“Ms. Alli, our guests are already in the dressing room, our makeup artists are already assisting them,” Isabel informed me thru the intercom.
“I got it. Thanks, Isabel.”
I closed my laptop and went out of my office to greet them in the dressing room.
“Alli!” Iya greeted me as soon as she saw me entering the room.
Iya asked me if she could join the shoot. She wants to see the boys in front of the camera. I told her she is welcome to join us in the shoot.
I saw Anne beside Andrew in my peripheral vision. I still can’t move on from last night’s revelation.
“Control your emotion. You are too obvious.” Lance whispered.
I nodded at him. I went to Lieo, Vince, and Mike to check on them. I decided to check on them first before going to Andrew. I was trying to calm myself as Lance advice me to do.
“Hey, Andrew thank you again for doing this for me. Are they treating you well?” I asked in a formal voice.
Andrew looks at me with an amused face. “They are treating me nice. Don’t worry about me ba- Alli.”
I gave him a warning look. I knew he was just teasing me.
Anne was looking at us. I was planning to ignore her for the whole shoot because I am not confident that I can act as if I was still ignorant about her. But I can’t because of the people around us.
“Ms. Alli, I heard that you and Ms. Anne were also friends,” Lea said, Andrew’s Personal Assistant.
I was doing my best not to think ill of Anne. But I can’t help it. I think that Lea got that information from Anne.
“We were friends before. But we lost communication when Alli went to America. I was hesitant to message her since she was already a big star.” Anne answered on behalf of me when she noticed how surprised I was when asked by Lea.
She looks shy and uncomfortable.
“But you are still friends, right? I mean even if you are already famous, you will not forget your friends.” Lea commented.
My brow rosed from what she said. It’s so obvious that she means something maliciously.
“Alli is not that kind of person, Lea. Be careful with your words.” Andrew said in a cold voice.
I saw Lea and Anne flinched.
“I’m sorry sir,” Lea said then she bite her lips.
“Alli was not able to contact us when she was in the US, except for her family but as you can see we are perfectly fine with it and our relationship did not change a bit. And I didn’t hire you to gossip. Consider this as a warning Lea. And Anne makes sure you know how to handle this kind of people.”
