Chapter 60
Third-person narrative.
“Denver, where are you?” Devon hastily called out to his brother as he chased after Gina.
Seeing Gwen on top of Derrick was not a sight he was prepared for, and it took him a moment to decide what he should do. Despite being mad at Gwen and Derrick for causing Gina pain in such a disrespectful manner, he figured he needed to go after Gina first. In other, to ensure that she was safe.
“I’m still in the dungeon; what is it?” Denver asked, obviously stressed out from the tone of his voice.
“It’s Gina; she was upset, and she has run away,” Devon answered between heavy breathing.
“What happened?” he questioned, his voice laced with sudden concern.
“Derrick happened; we walked in on him and Gwen having s*x; you need to get here fast; she just ran off, and I have lost sight of her,” he said.
In less than a minute, Denver was already standing with Devon. He was so angry, and he couldn’t believe that Derrick would allow himself to be used by that b***h again.
“Where did she run to?” Denver inquired as they both searched around the palace to see if Gina was hiding anywhere.
“I don’t know; I was about to check her up in her apartment,” Devon said, and in less than a minute they were already there.
They both ran to Gina’s apartment and found it empty. They also noticed that Lucia was not in her room.
“Sound the pack alarm; if anyone finds her or Lucia, they should bring them back to the palace. And while you are at it, go check her in with her parents and keep informed about every of your movement,” Denver instructed Devon, who zoomed off almost immediately.
Denver, who was still furious that Derrick, would allow himself to be used by Gwen and cause pain to Gina, decided to go and best some sense into his brother.
He angrily goes to Gwen’s room to put the little b***h in her place and smoke some sense into Derrick’s skull. But on getting there, he finds Derrick sleeping while Gwen’s eyes were pooling with tears.
At first, he wasn’t bothered about her fake tears as he was so mad at her that if she were not a woman, he would have probably smashed her head against a wall. Well, that was until she started laying false accusations against Derrick.
“He raped me; he forced himself on me,” she said, as she sobbed while clenching onto the duvet around her chest.
On instinct, Denver moved to where Derrick was sleeping and tried waking him up, but he was far asleep. After several attempts at waking him, he immediately sensed something wasn’t right.
“What did you do to him?” Denver questioned her in rage with his fist in a hard knot.
“Nothing; he slept right after he raped me, as he has always done in the past few weeks,” she said, crying so profusely that she almost believed her lies.
Denver is confused about what to believe as he looks for a way to wake Derrick up. Left with no option, he walked over to the fridge and brought out a chilled bottle of water to splash on Derrick.
Derrick woke up but kept struggling to keep his eyes open. Left with no choice, Denver punched him hard, and that sort of cleared his eyes to some extent.
“What’s going on?” he questioned, holding onto his face while staring at Denver and Gwen.
“Gina is missing,” Denver said to him.
“How, what happened?” Derrick asked, his voice laced with concern.
“She caught you f*****g this w***e,” Denver said, throwing Derrick’s shirt at him.
“No, I wasn’t,” Derrick refuted, surprised at the allegations levied against him, as he looked over to where Gwen was to see her crying.
“Tell our mate that when we find her,” Denver said, pulling his brother out of Gwen’s room.
Even though it was still midnight, the entire pack had woken up after the pack security bell was rung.
News quickly started making the rounds that a witch had been apprehended and that there were more witches on the loose.
There was a lot of commotion as people were seen running to places they felt were more secure.
Among the crowd was Gina, who was running nonstop towards her parents’ place.
And as soon as she reached her parent’s home, she knocked on their door, and she was quickly invited in.
Right when she entered the sitting room, she asked them not to let the triplets know that she was there, before going to her room to cry.
She could not believe that Derrick would dare to cheat on her again after she forgave him the first time he did that. She couldn’t imagine how long he must have been sleeping with Gwen while also sleeping with her.
Strangely though, this hurt was not as deep as the last time he cheated on her, still, she just couldn’t stop reliving the image of Gwen being on top of him.
She decided that she was not going to give him any other chance as she made up her mind to reject his a*s. Fresh warm tears rained down her eyes, and she could hardly believe how much she was hurting just from the thought of rejecting him.
Meanwhile, news soon got to Lucas Amel that a witch had been apprehended in the palace, and he needed no one to tell him that it was Mara.
He tried calling Gwen to find out what was happening in the palace, but she was not answering her phone. And this furthermore made him pensive.
Knowing full well that he would be indicted in due time, he sent a link to the rival pack he had an alliance with and told them to send some warriors right at that moment to attack the pack.
He then picked up a few of his things and ran into the night with about six of his guards accompanying him.
News of rival pack warriors marching towards the pack soon got to Denver, who was on his way to Gina’s home alongside his brother, Derrick.
He is told that over a hundred warriors have been spotted heading their way. He quickly stops in his tracks to notify Derrick about the new development.
“You go to Gina and make sure she is safe; I have to get back to the palace to ensure that Dad and Mom are not harmed,” he tells Derrick as he runs back towards the palace.
Derrick tried hurrying his steps to get to Gina’s place in time, even though he found himself struggling to keep his body and mind awake.
The warriors soon got to the pack, and as usual, they started their rain of terror with the omega section.
The sudden screams of women and children attracted Gina out of the room she had locked herself in, as she walked into the sitting room to see what was happening from the window.
There, she met her parents, looking terrified, with her father carrying his old wooden rifle and pointing it at the door with her mother behind him.
“What is going on?” She questioned, as she moved towards the window to see what was going on.
“Our pack is under attack,” her father answered.
It was dark outside, with little or no light in the streets, but she could see some warriors attacking and killing some pack members.
Hearing the sound of the wailing and call for help from her fellow omegas prompted her to want to go out, but her mother quickly moved to where she was to stop her.
“It’s dangerous out there, Gina; please don’t go,” her mother pleaded with tears in her eyes.
But, somehow, she felt obligated to go out there. She has always wondered why the omegas always have to suffer the most when there was an attack on the pack.
Even though she wasn’t sure of what she was going to do, she just felt that she needed to be out there, defending her people and chasing off the enemies in every little way she could.
“Mom, I will be fine,” she said to her mother as she calmly pulled her mother’s hands off her body and went outside after arming herself with a kitchen knife.
“Gina!” She heard Devon call out her name as soon as she stepped out of the house.
He was fighting off a group of warriors that were doing their best to capture him.
Seeing him surrounded by close to six warriors and him being able to fight them off amplified her affection for him.
She would never have guessed that he was this strong, being the baby of the house and all.
Within a few minutes, he had killed all the warriors and was about to run in her direction., when another set of warriors sprang out to attack him.
Gina was about to run towards him when she saw a soldier about to kill a child no older than eight years old.
“Let her go!” She screamed at the warrior, as she instinctively started walking toward him to rescue the child from him.
But as soon as the warrior heard Gina’s voice, he was angered by her effrontery to stop him from killing the little one.
While he charged toward her, Gina had very little chance to think of her attack tactics. She, however, noticed that the warrior was several inches shorter than her, and she hoped to use that to her advantage.
As soon as he was close enough, he angrily made to attack Gina as he swiftly swung his sword at her. But, she ducked and forcefully plug the knife she was holding deep into his neck until he was gagging and spitting out b***d.
Within seconds, his body soon hits the floor like a sack bag filled with sand.
“Feisty,” said Devon, who had just caught up with her, while playfully giving her a high five.
They both soon realized that the warriors had suddenly started pulling back, and they could see them running out of the pack.
Just then, Denver sends a mind link to Devon, asking him if he had seen Derrick, as he has not been able to communicate with him.
Devon tells him no and that he was with Gina, and that though they were under attack at the commoner section, the warriors were pulling back.
Denver tells Devon to keep Gina safe and that he will be going after Derrick immediately.
Denver left the palace as soon as he finished speaking with Devon. He hadn’t gone far when some warriors ran towards him in panic.
“What is happening?” He questioned them, as soon as they were close enough.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“It’s your brother Derrick; he has been captured,” one of the warriors said to him.
