Chapter 20: Embarrassing Moment
Chapter 20: Embarrassing Moment
I quickly turned around and saw him standing not too far from me, his hands tucked inside the pockets of his shorts. I realized he had just come home, as he was still wearing the same clothes as earlier, and he had a bottle of mineral water with him. "Sir..." I stammered, feeling a mix of surprise and nervousness. He sighed and approached me, getting closer. He continued speaking but avoided making eye contact. I used to think of him as a friend, but something changed in the way he talked to me earlier about the box that I was about to clean. He seemed more authoritative. I forced a smile and nodded. "It's just... awkward, you know? Calling you ‘Kiro’ when I'm just your maid and your mom is my boss," I replied, trying to explain my feelings. Suddenly, I felt a strange fluttering sensation inside me. It wasn't the romantic butterflies you read about in novels. I knew it was just the effect of the alcohol messing with my emotions. "K-Kiro, what were you doing at the bar earlier?" I asked, feeling a mix of curiosity and nervousness. "Waiting for you," he replied bluntly, stunning me with his directness. I swallowed nervously and looked away. For some reason, I felt a surge of nervousness, my heart beating faster, and I couldn't help but smile. "Because Miss Linda told me to wait for you," he continued. My happiness from his words quickly faded. I had thought he waited for me at the bar willingly, but it turns out he was just following orders. I laughed awkwardly, even though there was nothing funny about it. "Oh yeah! Miss Linda is so thoughtful as always, HAHA," I exclaimed, trying to hide my disappointment. "She said you were only given an hour at the bar. But I guess... you enjoyed it there," he said, and I was taken aback. What did he mean by ‘enjoyed’? I felt a pang of confusion.I don’t know if I enjoyed the place, but I enjoyed the drinks. And my body is now taking revenge on me. "Uh, well... maybe a little. I actually wanted to go home earlier, but Doday and Joday were still busy with... well, you know," I explained, referring to their make-out sessions with some guys we didn'tExclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
know. "I see. So you let that man help you to the car earlier..." he trailed off, avoiding eye contact. Huh? He's talking about Kurt, right? "Oh! Kurt!" I exclaimed. "You knew him, huh?" he asked, his expression suddenly changing. I wondered what was going on with him. "Yes, I met him when Miss Linda and I went to the mall a long time ago," I explained. "I didn't ask," he said seriously, turning his gaze towards the plant in front of us. I could see him swallowing, his Adam's apple moving up and down. Silence filled the space between us. Is he angry at me, maybe? "By the way, K-Kiro..." I spoke up, trying to break the uncomfortable silence. He immediately turned his attention to me, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. I felt embarrassed for no apparent reason, wishing I could just disappear. He had that badass aura about him with that eyebrow raise. "Why did you leave the mansion? Is it true that Miss Linda sent you to the bar? The doctor said you weren't supposed to go out, right? So why did you end up there?" I asked, feeling a mix of curiosity and concern. He just kept staring at me, or maybe at my lips. It made me feel uneasy, so I swallowed hard and looked away. If he didn't want to answer, then I wouldn't push him. I was too tired to wait for his response, and I felt like I was about to faint and throw up, so I turned my back to him, ready to walk back inside the mansion. But then, he held my hand, stopping me in my tracks. I was startled, and my eyes almost widened in surprise as his soft lips gently touched mine. It was just a brief touch, and there was barely any movement between us. As our lips stayed pressed together, he closed his eyes. My heart raced so fast, as if it was pumping blood at lightning speed. What was he doing? In that moment, all the dizziness, headaches, and other feelings I had been experiencing seemed to fade away. It felt like his kiss was the only thing that mattered. "Miss Linda was worried about you earlier, so I convinced Mama to check on you at the bar since no
one else would do it. I insisted... because I was worried about you, too," he finally said after the kiss. I was completely stunned by his words and actions. Before the kiss, I had momentarily forgotten all the discomfort in my body. Now, because of what he said, I felt even more dizzy. I didn't know how to respond. I stared at him blankly, while he looked away. We stood there, gazing at the garden, under the starlit sky and the chilly air, for a few more minutes. "Hey," he spoke up, breaking the silence. I managed a smile and said, "Thank you for your concern—" But before I could finish my sentence, something unexpected happened. The moment was a complete disaster. I could feel the intense embarrassment rising within me as I suddenly became overwhelmed with a wave of nausea. Without warning, I vomited, and it landed right onto his clothes. It was a horrifying sight that I couldn't believe was happening. Time seemed to freeze as the reality of the situation sank in. The embarrassment I felt surged through every fiber of my being, making me wish I could disappear into thin air. The grossness of the situation intensified as the smell and sight of the vomit filled the air around us. I desperately searched for words to apologize, but they seemed to escape me, lost in a sea of humiliation. My face flushed crimson, and I could feel the heat radiating from my cheeks. I wanted to run away, to hide from the humiliation that engulfed me. He stared at me. What the heck? Embarrassment and disgust overwhelmed me to the maximum level. Damn you, alcohol!
