“Mimi Hansel felt as though a knife had been driven into his heart. “That day, ”

“Stop! Just leave. We have nothing more to talk about”

Mimi. His eyes were red as he stood there stiffly. “I’m sorry. I was wrong. Can we stop fighting now? i shouldn’t. I shouldn’t have… said those words and done those things”

“11 just missed you so much… I did that on impulse… I came here today to ask you to go back with me…”

“Go back?” Miranda cast him a stony gaze. “Go back for what? Are you going to make me your mistress now?”

Hansel answered, “If you’re willing to go back with me, I’ll break up with Ingrid right away!”

Miranda shook her head. “No.”

“Mimi…” Hansel tried to approach her again, but she quickly turned around and dashed into her bedroom, slamming the door shut behind her.

It was completely quiet in the living room again after some time. Then, Miranda came out of her bedroom.

To her astonishment, she found Hansel on the floor slumped against the wall. He’d fallen asleep. Miranda was at a loss for words.

Early morning the next day, sunlight streamed in through the window and lit up the

room.

The person curled up on the couch moved slightly. When Hansel opened his eyes, he felt so dizzy that he reflexively squinted.

When the dizziness subsided, he sat up and pinched the center of his brows. He took

aglance at his surroundings.

He was in an unfamiliar space. The place was cramped, but it was clean and organized. Still, it was too small and modest for his taste.

Miranda came out of her bedroom just then

Hansel looked up and met her cold, dark eyes. “Mimi?”

Miranda sat on a chair and asked expressionlessly, “Do you remember what you did last night?”

Hansel frowned and shook his head. Miranda had expected this; after all, Hansel would never have uttered those words he’d said the night before if he’d been sober.

Miranda curled her lips. “At 11:00 pm last night, you banged on my door nonstop. Not only did you disturb my sleep, but you also disturbed the other residents.

“Please don’t do something childish like that again in the future. We’re all adults now. You should act a bit more rationally.”

Hansel’s head throbbed painfully. When he heard Miranda’s words, it was as though someone had thrown a punch at his chest.

Hansel had a disdainful look in his eyes as he scanned the room. He smiled scornfully. “Did you think I’d want to come to a small and shabby place like this? I won’t come here again, even if you beg me!”

Then, he grabbed his jacket and stormed out of the apartment.

As he walked down the street, he found Calvin’s number and gave him a call. “What are you doing? Come out and grab a drink with me!”

“Hans, did you come here straight away after last night’s party? You still smell like booze.” Calvin sat down beside Hansel and teased him playfully.

He’d come to see Hansel after receiving the latter’s call. He found the latter sitting at the bar alone, drinking like a fish. Hansel was still wearing the same clothes he’d worn yesterday.

Hansel replied, “I asked you to come and have a drink with me. Why are you saying all that nonsense?”

Calvin raised his hands as if he’d surrendered to Hansel’s demands. “Alright! I won’t

say shother word. I’ll drink”

The staff at the bar had gotten off work during the day. So, only the two of them. were drinking at the bar

Calvin scratched the side of his head, finding this situation rather embarrassing.

“Where are the others?”

“Zach was summoned home by his dad. Sam has been busy lately, though I’m not. sure what he’s busy with. I haven’t seen him for days.

Hansel didn’t think much of it since he’d just asked in passing. He raised his glass and downed the liquor in a gulp.

Calvin could see that he was in a bad mood. So, he stayed and kept him company.

The two of them sat there and drank until it was late at night. Eventually, Calvin got a cab and took the wasted Hansel back to his mansion.

When he finally managed to move Hansel onto the bed, he could still hear the latter mumbling Miranda’s nickname in his sleep.
