Chapter 128
Chapter 128
Lottie’s POV
My adrenaline was skyrocketing, as an overwhelming crash of emotions flooded through me.
Why the heck does Alex want to see this girl again?! Why the heck did he send Rosalind out to go find her and bring her back to him?! Bringing her back to his office for that matter!
“Tell me what the hell is going on!” I rage, as Alex groans loudly in frustration, continuing to drive us both towards, what I’m assuming is his work now.
“IT WAS HER THAT CHASED YOU THAT DAY!” Alex yells, seeming to grow stressed under the mounting pressure from my nagging.
Wait…
His psycho ex–girlfriend, Sofia, was the one who had chased me that day after school… the hooded individual has been the same girl I saw in his office all along!?
It can’t be….
My heart pounds as I try to wrap my head around the information. I never imagined that she would be the one behind it! Not in a million years.
“But that… that doesn’t make any sense! She chased me before she even turned up to your office that day! She must have been following us if she knew who I was already?!” I ramble, my voice quieter now as Alex’s hard stare remains on the road ahead.
“Why would she even do that? She’s never met me before?” I add in question, fear and confusion choking up my voice now. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Who was this girl and what did she plan to do to me that day?!
Alex’s grip on the steering wheel tightens, his jaw clenched. “She’s clearly unhinged, Lottie. Believe me, she was the last person I expected to be behind the chase that day, but it’s true, I seen the footage with my own eyes! I needed to find her to know what she’s been planning.” Alex explains, as the information sinks in.
I swallow hard, feeling a mix of anger and fear swirling within me. “What would she have done to me that day if she had actually caught me? What if she’s seriously dangerous? After all, you haven’t seen her in years and she’s acting this way! What if she’s totally lost her damn mind?!” I panic, my anxiety rising at the thought of more trouble coming our way.
When will we ever catch a damn break?!
This was all happening so soon after the events of yesterday too….
Alex so far has three deaths on his hands, and I do not want it to become four with Sofia – regardless of what she has done!
“I sent Rosalind and a couple of my guys out of town to find her and bring her back to me for some questioning. I need to know if she’s acting alone or if there are others involved in whatever this stunt of hers is. I can’t trust anybody anymore Lottie, not after Freddie was so quick to work alongside Tommy’s damn family against us!” Alex grumbles, as we approach his office – the tall modern building coming into view.
I nod, trusting Alex’s judgment on this. If anyone can handle this situation, it’s clearly him. But I can’t help but feel uneasy and jealous, knowing that Sofia was currently on her way back here.
Why the heck was she out to get me? Not to mention that she could possibly be plotting something even more sinister…
“Just don’t kill her Alex, I don’t want anyone else to wind up dead.” I find myself whispering, as Alex pulls into the gates and drives up towards the front
doors.
‘I won’t.” He confirms briefly, as I nod slowly – the car coming to a final standstill.
As we head inside to Alex’s office, I can’t help but grow more nervous for what is about to go down. She would get here eventually, the same woman I had seen wrapped up behind my man that day in his office – trying desperately to seduce him.
If it weren’t for Alex’s office footage, I would have probably believed that he had cheated on me thanks to her! But it turns out, that the girl was just desperate and crazy!
We make it to his floor, as I settle myself into his comfy office chair watching as he paces before me back and forth rubbing roughly at his stubbled chin.
“Is there anything else?” I find myself asking him, as we wait for Rosalind to arrive with the girl.
“What?” He questions, turning to face me again as I sigh.
“Anything else that you want to tell me Alex? First it’s the news about Freddie, my mother and the cop. Now this with Sofia being the one who had chased me down that day? Please tell me there’s
nothing else. I can’t handle any more surprises at this point in my life.” I close my eyes, my hands shaking slightly before I hear Alex shuffle closer to me.
He turns me in the chair, as my eyes open to meet his own, as he leans down to be completely eye level with me now.
“There’s nothing else, doll. I promise you that. These were the four people that I wanted to deal with – Sofia being the last of them.” Alex holds my hands tightly in his as he speaks.
I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as Alex reassures me that there are no more surprises, at least not for now. I want to believe him, but after everything that has happened, it’s hard not to feel on edge all of the time.
“I want to trust you, Alex…” I say, trying to push away my lingering doubts. “I just hope that this is truly the end of all the chaos and danger – especially with the baby now on the way.” I admit, as he nods in agreement.
Alex gives me a small smile, his thumbs gently caressing the back of my hands. “I hope so too, Lottie. I’ll do everything in my power to protect you and keep you safe. He tells me, and I know if anything was true – it’s that.
This man would stop at nothing at this rate to keep us protected… he was proving himself to be invincible at this point.
Before we can continue, Alex’s office phone rings out from on the desk – as he stands to answer it – leaning across me.
I watch him and listen intently, as he speaks through in to the line. “Thanks for calling up, yeah just send them up to my floor. Great. Bye.” Alex states, hanging up, before turning to face me now.
“She’s here.” He informs me, as a chill runs down my arms…
Alex won’t let anything happen to me, I have to remember that. I can’t show her that I’m weak. I have to be brave!
Alex pulls me to stand from his office chair, before leading me out into the main lobby of his floor. “Go into my meeting room and take a seat, I’ll bring her in there. Are you sure you want to sit in through this though, you really don’t have to?” He strokes my cheek gently with the back of his hand as I
nod.
I can do this…
With his words, I shuffle my way towards the meeting room – opening the door and waiting for the female in question to be brought in.
Alex’s elevator eventually dings, before brief chatter is heard causing me to grow more nervous.
Rosalind is then the first one to enter the room, as she approaches me and leans down to give me a comforting hug.
C
I thank her for her support, before she moves to sit down in the seat right beside me – offering me more comfort for what is about to go down.
Alex is the next to enter, with Sofia in tow behind him, blindfolded and gagged as his two men hold her tightly and pull her fully into the room.
My heart skips a beat as I see the woman who had snuck into Alex’s office that day with ill intent to ruin our relationship. Knowing that she was now also the one who chased me that day, the sight of her instantly fills me with a mix of anger and distaste.
Alex closes the door, giving us more privacy, before his men push Sofia down into the furthest away chair from my own – before removing her blindfold and mouth gag – causing her to blink profusely at her surroundings.
“What the fuck Alex?!” Sofia sneers, her voice dripping with venom as her eyes land on Alex’s before turning to meet my own. “You missed me that bad you had to have me kidnapped?!” She continues, irking me with her words.
Alex’s men block the door, as Alex himself moves to sit in one of the middle chairs between us all – leaning back and folding his arms across his chest.
“I know all about your little game now Sofia,” Alex states, his tone firm. “And I want to know why you did it. Why did you chase Lottie that day? What the fuck do you want from us exactly?” Alex grits, as I swallow the forming lump in my throat – feeling intense,
Sofia laughs coldly, her gaze shifting to me again. “Maybe I just want him for myself, of course. I never got over him. You know, he was mine to begin with, sweetheart!” Sofia snorts, as I raise a brow at her words.
My blood boils at her nastiness, as the flashbacks course into my memory from the day in the office – her bony hands wrapping around his waist!
“Maybe if you actually washed your hair and wore some nicer clothes he would consider looking at you again… but he certainly won’t give me up for the likes of you when you look and act like that!” I remark, as Alex laughs out loudly at my insult.
I’ve had enough with this girl already!
Sofia’s eyes narrow, as she sucks her teeth in complete fury with my words.
“You’ll see, Alex. You’ll come crawling back to me the second you get bored with this one, and she’ll just be left behind – alone and broken.” Sofia shrugs, as I shake my head and smile.
She can only dream I guess…
Alex’s jaw clenches, and I can see the anger flash behind his eyes. But he remains surprisingly calm. “This ends now, Sofia. Tell me why you chased her that day? I know it has nothing to do with me!” Alex fumes, as she rolls her eyes next.
Sofia lets out a bitter laugh, her eyes flickering with a mixture of resentment and madness. “Oh, you just think you know everything, don’t you? Well,
you’re wrong!”
“I’m done playing games, Sofia,” Alex snaps, slamming his hand on the table, his patience wearing thin. “Tell me the truth, or you’ll fucking regret it.”
Sofia’s gaze darts between Alex and me, a sinister smile playing on her lips. “Fine, you want the truth? You always loved to play the hero, didn’t you? Taking in all of the broken souls and trying to fix them! First Anna and now this one!” She mocks Alex, her voice dripping with malice as she speaks of
Anna now.
“This one has ruined my fucking life Alex!” Sofia suddenly spits, sneering at me from across the table as my eyes widen.
“What are you talking about?! We’ve never even met before!” I retaliate, as she glares heavily at me.
“I had a thing with Holden before he was locked up and taken from me – thanks to you!” Sofia eventually admits, a twisted pride in her confession.
“I fucking loved him, you know?” Sofia grits out, as I blink in return.
My eyes widen in disbelief as the pieces start to fall into place. Holden, the man who had tormented me for years, was somehow her boyfriend or her current fling?
“You’re insane,” I whisper, feeling a mix of fear and disgust. “You’re doing all of this because we had Holden rightfully locked up for his crimes?!” I
breathe out.
Sofia smirks, her eyes glinting with a dangerous glimmer. “Oh, it’s not just about him. It’s about you too. You think you’ve got everything now, don’t you? The perfect life, the perfect man, whilst mine is behind bars! It’s not fair!” Sofia spits, as I turn to
Alex to see his startled expression too.
“Life isn’t fucking fair, get over it!” Alex interjects, his voice cold and resolute. “How the fuck did you and Holden even meet? You don’t even live in the same town!” Alex accuses her of lying, as I choose to remain silent.
“I met him at a football game when his school played against mine! Not that it’s any of your business!” Sofia states bluntly, as Alex rolls his eyes.
“So what then? You chased Lottie to do what to her exactly?!” Alex pushes, leaning forward now as she smirks at him.
“I wanted to toy with her… make her life a living hell… since you made mine hell by having him locked up! I was also hoping that you would take me up on my offer that day in your office too…” Sofia continues, making me sick to my core.
This girl was a piece of work to say the least… all because she had a small fling with Holden before he got locked up for HIS crimes.
With that, as though Alex seems to snap completely, he draws out his gun from his waist band – something I didn’t know he even carried on him – before pointing it directly at Sofia.
No…
