Noah’s POV

I hear Rachel call my name and it sounds loud at first. I think maybe I heard wrong until I heard her screams and then her a thud on the ground. I push open the door with Coco following behind me.

I see Rachel lying on the floor with a glass in hand. I walk swiftly towards her. If she was so sleepy why did she not climb up to the bed?

“Rachel,” I say and when she did not respond I felt my heart skip a beat. I turned to Coco who raised an eyebrow to show me she was as confused as I was.

“Rachel?” I say again this time my voice form and stronger than before.

I bend down beside her when she doesn’t respond once more. I shake her but she does not shake. It was like shaking a log of wood.

“Rachel?” I say again this time I feel my voice coming out in a scream. I wanted her to open her eyes and say got you. I wanted her to say it was an elaborate prank.

As my hand lands on her skin, I feel how cold it is. “Coco, can you call emergency services?” I scream out as I turn her to lie on her back.

“Yes,” Coco stammers out and runs to get her phone. She comes back to stand beside me and blinks hard. “What do you think could be wrong?” she asks as she taps away on her phone.

“I don’t know but please hurry,” I tell her as I watch Rachel.

Why was she lying there looking lifeless when she had a baby living on the inside of her?

“Noah?” Coco says terrified.

I look up at her and I see her standing there trembling with the phone in her hand.

“Coco, are you calling them?” I ask when I see that the phone is not to her ears.

“Noah,” she said again but this time with a squeak in her voice.

“Coco call them” I scream out when she keeps calling my name without saying anything. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Blood,” she said pointing to Rachel’s legs. I watch as blood flows from her legs down to the carpet.

“Rachel 911” I scream at her and wait for her to come back to earth.

She looks lost and shakes greatly. I stand up and collect the phone from her hand and dial emergency services explaining the little I know.

I kept pacing the room hoping that she would she would be fine. I had no idea about anything relating to the human body so I could not even do a first aid if I had to.

I glanced at Coco who was sitting in the corner of the room crying her eyes out. I wanted to console her but I felt like I needed one myself too. Didn’t blood coming out from her vagina during pregnancy mean she might have lost it?

I feel my hope gets renewed when I hear the siren blast in the distance. I push myself out of the room and hurry to stand at the entrance so I can lead them in. The door to the back side of the ambulance opens and two men jump down with a scooter and follow me without a word.

I watch them do something to Rachel before putting her on the stretcher and taking her downstairs.

“Someone needs to come with us,” one of the men says and I nod.

“I am her husband and I would go with her,” I say following them out. Nichole comes out with us.

She follows us to the ambulance and when she tries to get in one of the men stops her. “Only one person can go with us,” he says and she stops.

“Just try and get yourself together. I am very sure that it is nothing serious and we will be back before you know it” I tell her.

What I said was an encouragement to myself because I did not know what to do. I was so afraid that I wanted to run off so I don’t face the situation.

I stared at Rachel and one of the men spoke. “She is in a light sleep, she will be woken up once we are in the hospital”

“Can we get there any faster?” I asked and one of the men nodded.

“Don’t worry”

I follow behind as they roll Rachel to the emergency room.

“Sir you would need to stay put here while we try what we can do to help her,” One of the nurses said closing the curtains to the bed she was put on.

“You can come this way, sir, I would help to fill out the admission form,” another nurse said pointing to the nurses station that was in the middle of the room.

I nodded and followed her whole my eyes steadily turned to the bed she was put on.

“Please fill out this form,” she said dropping the form in front of me. I sigh and take up the one to begin filling.

“Don’t you worry sir, I am sure she would be fine” she adds when she sees my hesitation to fill out the registration form.

“She would be moved to a regular ward now so you can come in” the nurse I had met earlier said as she stood behind me.

“After you complete this,” the second nurse said and I nodded and completed the form filling. I stood up and the first nurse led me to the private room.

“We can’t lose her, check her pulse” I hear from outside and this propels me to push open the door and rush toward her.

“What’s going on doctor?” I ask.

“Mr Lorraine can you speak to her?” a nurse asks me.

“What do I say?” I ask in fear.

“Anything” she replies without looking up.

I walk to Rachel and brush her hair down. “You have done so well so far so please don’t leave me here” I whisper as I feel my eyes well with tears.

“Ms. Eve can you explain the situation to Mr. Lorraine?” the doctor explained.

The nurse who told me to talk to her walked to me and told me to step aside for a brief conversation.

“We tried our best to save both the mother and the babies but we could only save the mother,” the nurse said with her head bowed.

“Babies?” I asked shocked.

“Yes, she was carrying twins, we’re you not aware?” she asked raising her head slightly.

“Stay with me” the doctor screamed again which made the nurse hurry from his front back to Rachel’s side.

“Keep your eyes open Rachel” I manage to say as I see her eyes open and close.

“Her heartbeat is returning faster,” the doctor said after a while.

I sighed in relief.
