Chapter 53

Chapter 53 Don’t Be Too Proud Of Yourself

That night, when Maggie arrived home, she acted as if nothing had happened. She planned to endure another night and torment Sierra.

In reality, Sierra had a restless night.

Initially, she constantly paid attention to the movements in Maggie’s room after her return, hoping to see her shocked and panicked face.

But unexpectedly, Maggie had been quiet since she returned to her room.

Sierra became more and more irritated as she waited. She started to feel it was unreasonable.

This wait lasted nearly three hours.

Seeing that it was almost ten o’clock at night and Maggie still showed no reaction, Sierra couldn’t help but panic.

She wondered if Maggie had other drafts in her possession.

But she had gone through everything at that time and destroyed all the drawings. Maggic couldn’t have any other designs with her.

Thinking of this, Sierra had the maid prepare some late–night snacks. Then she took the initiative to knock on Maggie’s door.

At this time, Maggie had just finished her shower. She lazily opened the door. She looked at Sierra and asked, “What’s up?”

Sierra looked past her, and her gaze fell on the desk behind her. Unfortunately, the angle was bad, and she was shorter than Maggie. She couldn’t see anything.

“Nothing much, I just wanted to bring you a late–night snack. You’ve been working hard these days.” Sierra lowered her gaze and spoke obediently.

If Maggie didn’t know her true face, she would probably really think Sierra was a harmless, innocent girl.

Unfortunately, years of living in the dark have taught her that appearances can be deceiving.

Maggie laughed nonchalantly. She asked, “Have you heard about the Trojan horse? Are you showing up at my door with ill intentions?”

Her single remark ignited Sierra’s anger again.

Sierra chided, “What do you mean? Do you think you’re indispensable now? I tell you, there are plenty of designers who work with us. Just because Grandpa values you doesn’t mean you’re good.”

Sierra’s eyes darkened, and she spoke maliciously.

Maggie laughed and rebuked, “If I’m not good, why didn’t he ask you to take charge of this project? You’re graduating soon, why can’t you handle anything?”

“Who told you that I couldn’t handle anything? I want to see what kind of results you can achieve with this project.” Sierra shouted angrily. Apparently, she couldn’t withstand the provocation due to her young age.

“You don’t need to worry about that,” Maggie replied softly, giving her a fake smile. Her beautiful eyes were distant and cold, exuding an indescribable chill.

Sierra felt uncomfortable under her gaze, as if she had become prey in her hands and couldn’t escape her plot.

“Hmm, it’s too soon for you to say that. Grandpa favored you. Don’t ruin this project. Our family can’t afford to lose our reputation!”

Sierra sneered. She was looking forward to the expression on Maggie’s face when she found out that the design draft was gone.

She wanted to see if this woman could continue to act arrogant.

Unfortunately, it seemed that Maggie wasn’t aware of it yet.

Maggie was uninterested in listening to Sierra’s nonsense. She closed the door before Sierra finished speaking and walked into the bedroom.

The design draft was indeed gone, along with all the precise data.

However, this was the best day for Maggie. After all, she was not a philanthropist. From the beginning, she never intended to let the Camerons acquire the project.

Yes, that’s right.

Everything was a trap from the beginning. A trap she had carefully planned.

The next day, early in the morning..

Maggie walked out of her room with a cold expression. She asked anyone she met, “Who went to my room. yesterday?”

The servants were stunned. They were frightened by her demeanor and shook their heads.

“Ms. Adam, you’ve said that you don’t like when others go to your room. We dare not go into your room. except for the weekly cleaning.”

The servants–hurriedly explained, fearing that they would be implicated.

Maggie’s energy was very low. She descended the stairs with a cold expression. Master and Madam Cameron were elderly and had become accustomed to waking up early. One was engrossed in reading the newspaper while the other watered the plants.

Ronald was dressed neatly and sat down at the dining table. It was clear that he hadn’t eaten yet. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

You’re up early, Master Cameron said warmly, clearly in a good mood.

What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Madam Cameron asked, turning to Maggie.

Master Cameron also put down his newspaper, his expression becoming serious.

‘All my design drafts are gone, my computer was soaked with water, and the motherboard is fried,” Maggie spoke coldly. Her eyes had turned red, and her body seemed to tremble with anger.

‘What did you say?” Master Cameron immediately jumped up from the sofa. Madam Cameron was also stunned in place.

‘I came back late last night and didn’t check the drafts. When I woke up this morning, all the manuscripts. were gone, and the computer wouldn’t turn on. There were many water stains on it,” Maggie said with red eyes, trying hard to remain calm.

Are you sure the drafts were still there when you left yesterday?” Madam Cameron couldn’t help but ask.

‘Of course, I wouldn’t carry such important things with me all the time.”

As soon as Maggie said that, Olivia and Sierra descended the stairs. “What happened early in the morning?”

Sierra silently observed Maggie’s expression. She couldn’t hide the smile on her face.

This fool finally discovered the missing drafts.

Humph, let’s see if she can still act smugly after messing up the project.

“Maggie’s design drafts are gone, and her computer is ruined,” Master Cameron spoke in a deep voice, hist face serious. He then looked at the servants and asked, “Did any guests visit our house yesterday?”

“Master Cameron, no guests visited yesterday.”

“Who was at home yesterday?” He asked again.

“Master Cameron and Mr. Ronald left at seven thirty in the morning. Madam Cameron left at nine in the

in the afternoon. Mr. Ericko morning. Ms. Cameron left at one in the afternoon, and Ms. Sierra left at tw didn’t come home.”

Maggie said, “I left around eleven in the morning and didn’t return until after nine in the evening.”

Consequently, the most suspicious individuals were Olivia and Sierra.

Noticing everyone looking at them, Olivia furrowed her brow and stated firmly, “Although Sierra and I were also present, we have no motive to commit such an act. We share both the glory and the burden with the family, why would we take Maggie’s design drafts?”

Olivia’s statement was logical. Ronald suggested, “There are many servants in the household, and many people come and go. Could it be that one of the servants is untrustworthy?”

Sierra gazed at Maggie and questioned, “Are you certain that the drafts are lost? Could it be that there was an issue with the design or that you couldn’t submit the drafts on time, so you fabricated this excuse, playing the trick of a thief crying stop thief?
