Chapter 1254: Esther'S Aunt

Chapter 1254: Esther's Aunt

Howard was utterly terrified of Chris Shelby. Before long, he fled in a panic. After driving Howard away, Chris Shelby looked at Juliette and said, "Alright! I've gotten rid of that jerk for you. He won't dare to bother you again!"

Juliette smiled and said, "Thank you!"

Chris Shelby replied irritably, "Just don't use me as a shield again, and I'll be grateful!"

Thinking about her bold actions earlier, Juliette couldn't help but stick out her tongue.

The next day, early in the morning, Esther woke up. Chris Shelby opened his eyes and curiously asked, "Esther, why are you up so early?"

Esther replied, "I have to meet someone important today. Will you come with me?"

Chris Shelby nodded and said, "Sure!" He then got up and washed.

After breakfast, Chris Shelby drove Esther away. On the way, he asked curiously, "Dear, where are we going now?"

Esther replied, "We're going to the Appointment Club!"

Chris Shelby nodded and then stepped on the gas. The car sped off in an instant.

Half an hour later, Chris Shelby arrived at the Appointment Club. The Appointment Club was a high-end venue on the East Coast frequented by successful people. Inside a private room at the club, Chris Shelby met a middle-aged woman. The woman saw Esther and immediately smiled warmly, "Esther!"

Esther happily called out, "Auntie!"Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Chris Shelby was taken aback. He hadn't expected this middle-aged woman to be Esther's aunt; he had never seen her before.

The woman looked curiously at Chris Shelby and asked Esther, "Who is this?"

Esther shyly introduced him, "Auntie, this is my husband, Chris Shelby!"

"What? You're Esther's husband, Chris Shelby?" The woman looked surprised.

Chris Shelby smiled and said, "Hello, Auntie."

Esther then introduced them further: "Dear, this is my Aunt Julia. She has been abroad for a long time and only recently returned to develop her business here."

Hearing this, Chris Shelby realized why he had never met Esther's aunt before-she had been abroad!

After the introductions, Esther asked Julia, "Auntie, did Uncle come? Didn't he say he was going to discuss cooperation with Chester Group today?"

Julia smiled and said, "Esther, your uncle had something come up and couldn't make it today. But we've discussed it; we will fully cooperate with Chester Group since we're family!" Hearing this made Esther very happy. Her aunt and uncle's company abroad was large; cooperating with them would be great for Chester Group!

Julia turned to Chris Shelby and asked indifferently, "Chris Shelby, I heard you're a live-in son-in-law of the Jefferson family. Is that true?"

Although Julia had been abroad for a long time, she had heard about Esther marrying a drifter. However, she wasn't clear on who exactly Esther had married.

Chris Shelby nodded and said, "Yes, I am a live-in son-in-law of the Jefferson family."

Chris Shelby didn't deny it because everyone on the East Coast knew about it; there was no need to lie.

Hearing that Chris Shelby was a live-in son-in-law made Julia show a hint of disdain. Live-in sons-in-law were generally looked down upon everywhere.

Julia looked at Esther with a frown and said, "Esther, you're now the president of Chester Group. The Jefferson family is also considered the top family on the East Coast. With your qualifications, you could find any man you want. Why did you choose a live-in son-in-law?"

Hearing this made Esther unhappy. Her aunt had just returned from abroad and didn't know anything yet was speaking nonsense-how outrageous!

With an unpleasant expression on

her face, Esther said sternly: "Auntie,

I think you're mistaken! Although

Chris Shelby is our Jefferson

family's live-in son-in-law, it's entirely because of him that we became the

top family on the East Coast!"

Julia sneered coldly upon hearing this. The Jefferson family became a top family because of a live-in son-in-law? What a joke!

In Julia's eyes, Esther was just trying to save face by saying good things about Chris Shelby.

Julia laughed mockingly: "Esther,

don't lie to me! How could a mere live-in son-in-law help the Jefferson family become the top family on the East Coast? If you're going to lie, at least make it believable!"

"Auntie..." Hearing this left Esther speechless with anger.

Chris Shelby was still her husband; how could her aunt say such things?

Seeing this situation left Chris Shelby feeling helpless. He hadn't expected Julia to look down on him because of his status as a live-in son-in-law.

However, Chris Shelby was used to it and didn't mind much. Being a live-in son-in-law was just one of his identities; it was simply more prone to misunderstanding. Suddenly though, Chris Shelby sensed danger.

"Hello! Here are your drinks!" At that moment, a waiter approached them.

"Thank you!" Esther reached out to take the drinks when she noticed a cruel smile forming on the waiter's lips.

He pulled out a knife from his pocket and aimed it at Esther's neck.

"Ah!" Esther screamed in shock but couldn't react in time as everything happened too quickly.

Just as the waiter's knife was about to pierce her neck, his wrist was grabbed by someone.

With a crackling sound, his wrist was broken instantly.

"Ah!" The waiter screamed in pain as his knife fell to the ground.

Realizing his mission had failed; he quickly turned around and fled.

The waiter's speed was astonishing; he disappeared almost instantly.

Seeing him escape made Chris Shelby narrow his eyes but not pursue him. After all; he didn't know if there were accomplices around. If he left; Esther would be in danger! "Dear!" Esther cried out in fear; her face pale with terror.

It had been too close-she had almost been killed by that waiter!

Chris Shelby smiled reassuringly: "It's okay; as long as I'm here no one can hurt you."

Hearing this calmed Esther down immediately. For her; having Chris Shelby by her side always gave her a sense of security.
