Chapter 552 Is It Any of Your Business?

Chapter 552 Is It Any of Your Business?

Damien knew Clarissa had transferred money to Joseph.

However, he didn’t ask about it.

Three years had passed, and the two of them no longer acted like defensive hedgehogs when on the

topic of old flames or rivals in love. After all, they had just gotten back together, and he didn’t want to

pick a fight with her.

After transferring money to Joseph, Clarissa noticed that her conversation with Bethany was at the top

of the list. She didn’t remember sending any messages to Bethany, though, since the had been

together before this.

She opened it up, and saw a few messages from Bethany.

Bethany: [Hey, are you home yet? Are you still drunk?]

Bethany: [My future with Caleb depends on you.] © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Bethany: [What does the guy you hugged and kissed look like? Send me a photo. Is he more

handsome, or is President Lawrence? I bet he isn’t as handsome as your man.]

She saw that there was no notification to show that these messages were unread.

“Did you go through my WhatsApp?” Clarissa asked Damien tentatively.

“Your phone kept chiming, so I put it on silent mode,” he answered absent-mindedly.

It was as if this didn’t bother him at all.

To this day, she didn’t know that Damien had already seen Seth.

She kept thinking that he didn’t even know of Seth’s existence.

She wanted to say something, but she didn’t. In the end, all she said was, “I hate when Bethany talks

nonsense like that.”

“It is pretty hateful.”

Clarissa let out a fake laugh, then lay down again and pretended to sleep.

This time, Damien’s phone rang. It was Charles.

“President Lawrence, do you have anything scheduled on Monday? If you don’t, why don’t you come to

Florin so we can talk about Ashland? I also have something else to talk to you about,” he said.

Charles initially planned on bringing the matter with Clarissa up to Damien at their next meeting, but he

felt that Chanel was a ticking time bomb. She could jump off the building anytime, and Ashland was his

everything. He couldn’t put it on the line. He had been losing sleep over this for the past few days

before finally deciding to give Damien a call.

“Monday?” Damien thought about it. He usually had to attend a meeting at New East Corporation every

Monday, which was why he rarely headed to Florin. But since Clarissa was here, he decided to go.

“Okay.”

He hung up.

“Who was that?” Clarissa asked.

“Is it any of your business?”

“It’s fine if you don’t want to tell me. I was just asking…”

“That was Charles.”

She was taken aback. Then, she rechecked her phone, but there weren’t any new messages. No one

had spoken in the group chat.

“Why did he ask you to attend a meeting but not me?”

“As I said before, you’re not at that level yet,” Damien said calmly.

She pouted and turned her back to him.

Neil came in and clambered onto the bed when he saw Clarissa lying there.

“Mommy, are you feeling better? You were drunk just now, and Daddy was the one to carry you home.”

Neil’s breathing fanned out over her ear, and she felt happy just listening to him breathe.

“Really?” She had pretty much guessed it.

“Are you going to stay here, Mommy? Did you come back to see me?” he asked.

“Yeah.”

“Can I sleep with you and Daddy tonight, then? We’ve never tried that before.”

“Of course!”

That night, Neil slept between Clarissa and Damien. He and Clarissa chatted late into the night, and

she couldn’t help thinking about how adorable he was.

This reminded her of Iris. She wondered how her mother was doing. Iris had lost her child and had

spent such a long time in the attic—her heart had to be shattered. Clarissa wanted to see her mother

badly, but she was afraid that her aunt would do something to harm them both.

Damien didn’t do anything to her that night, thanks to Neil's presence.
