Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 96

Chapter 96

Chapter 96 I Don’t Have a Daughter Your Age Al dinner at home after work, Damien received a

message from his assistant. The assistant told Damien that he hadn’t discovered anything special

about Clarissa’s life in university, aside from everyone knowing about her relationship withi Zach. The

two had been ranked first among a number of couples that were most likely to end up getting married,

and they probably would’ve done so if not for Zach’s death. Another thing the assistant highlighted was

that Clarissa had only applied for a job at New last Corporation and nowhere else, which also probably

had something to do withi Zach.

Damien put his plione down and didn’t say a single word throughout the meal.

His and Clarissa’s first night together had been related to Zach as well.

Clarissa was talking to his grandfather about an animal shelter, but Damien wasn’t interested at all.

Alter bathing, Clarissa dried her hair while reading

Damien watched her. She possessed the sort of calm and clegance that an educated woman

possessed as well as a certain sexiness. It had nothing to do with her body, but it made his heart race.

By the time her hair was dry, Clarissa liad Cinished reading a chapter. “It’s so cold!” She snuggled up in

bed, “Have you always been so afraid of the cold? Even back in university?” Damien pretended to

throw out this question casually as he read. “Hmm…” She looked at the ceiling, “I’ve never felt cold

while in university.”

Back then, her mind was filled with thoughis or seeing Zach die next day. She would fall asleep feeling

warm and sweet every niglit.

“What was it that made you feel warm?” Damien asked.

She gave it some thought. Obviously, she couldn’t tell Damien the truth, so she said, “Maybe it was

because there were so many of us sleeping in such a small dorm. I probably forgot to feel cold while

we challed through the night.”

“What would you do during the day?” For some reason, Damien was suddenly interested in her

university life. “Go to class, of course. I didn’t really do much. I don’t think you’d be interested in

knowing.” From beginning to end, Clarissa didn’t so much as mention Zach. Perhaps it was because

she couldn’t move on, so she chose not to bring him up at all. “Is that so? What did you and Zach do,

then?” Damien suddenly asked. His tone was mild, as is he had just brought it up by accident. To tell

the truth, Zach was a thing of the past. Damien didn’t want to bring him up, but he still did.

Clarissa sell silent. She didn’t know why he’d suddenly mentioned Zach. Just the mere mention of his

name filled lier with immense sorrow.

Thus, she didn’t say a thing.

Damnicn turned to glance at her. She was staring at the ceiling dazedly, lost in her thoughts.

“Have you done this before?” He put his book down and leaned over to kiss her roughly while

unbuttoning her pajamas. For a moment, Clarissa was confused. She didn’t know whether this was

Zach or Damien.

She wrapped her arins around his neck gently. Every time they kissed, she was lively and happy.

Though she would sometimes make the first move, she had never been this gentle.

The kiss ended when Damien straightened up and looked at her piercingly. “I’m not him!” Clarissa was

struck by a rush of anger and humiliation. “Why did you bring him up for no reason? When have I ever

thought of you as him?”

Damien pressed his lips abruptly to hers again, almost as if he’d lost control. At the same time, he

turned the lights off.

Clarissa didn’t know what had got into him. Why had he suddenly mentioned Zach? It put hier in a

terrible mood.

It was late by the time they linished, and Clarissa liad fallen asleep.

Damien, on the other hand, couldn’t sleep. He lit a cigarette and read while leaning against the bed

frame.

Perhaps Clarissa really felt cold. As she slept, she crept closer to Damien almost instinctively. His body

temperature was naturally high, and she slept soundly by his side. Damien’s gaze moved from the

book to her. Now that she was warm, her face was flushed.

She seemed to be mumbling something, but it was too soft for him to discern.

“What are you saying?” He leaned down and asked. “Dad,” she mumbled. He chuckled. He didn’t

expect her to be into this sort of thing. At least she wasn’t calling Zach’s name! Damien ran his singers

through her hair as she fell deeply asleep.

The next day, the weather was gloomy. It looked like it would rain a few more times before winter

officially came.

After Clarissa got up, she made the bed while rolling her eyes at Damien. He was putting his suit on,

and he looked good. She muttered, “You’re nothing but a beast in human form! I wasn’t thinking about

him!” As Damien walked past, he listed her jaw and looked into her eyes. “Who were you thinking

about, then?”

Clarissa faltered. She couldn’t bring herself to say it. When he saw her lower her eyes to avoid his

gaze, he couldn’t help teasing her. “Thinking

about your father? I didn’t know you were into this sort of thing!”

“How did you know about that?” She was surprised. She immediately grabbed his arm and questioned

him in a panic.

“Do you think of me as your father?” He let her go and put a watch on. “I don’t have a daughter your

age.”

He went downstairs. Clarissa remained rooted to the spot for a while, before heading downstairs as

well.
