Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 99
Chapter 99
Chapter 99 1 Feel Bad for Damien When Clarissa went to visit her mother, Anne gave her a piece of
good news. A few days ago, her mother’s pinky finger had twitched. “Really?” Clarissa was over the
moon. Her mother had been in a coma for six years and had finally moved, albeit just a little. “Are you
sure you weren’t seeing things?”
Clarissa couldn’t belleve it, so she wanted to get confirmation. “How’s that possible? I’ve cared for so
many patients over the years, I can definitely tell the difference between peripheral nerve necrosis and
an actual reflex.” Anne was carefully wiping Clarissa’s mother’s hands. “Thank you, Anne.” Tears filled
Clarissa’s eyes. She felt that Anne was the main contributor to her mother’s improvement, and thus she
was extremely grateful.
“Alright, alright, It’s what I’m supposed to do.” Anne rubbed Clarissa on the head. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
In the evening, she and Lily went to Lily’s sister’s home at Southern Paradise on East River Avenue. It
was a lovely neighborhood
Landon opened the door.
“Why are you dressed like that?” He was surprised to see Clarissa dressed like a high school student.
Clarissa smiled, but didn’t say anything,
Clarissa didn’t speak much that night. Coupled with her shabby clothes, she made Lily seem like a
goddess.
Under the pretense of visiting her sister, Lily paid her future parents-in-law a visit. Landon’s parents had
a great impression of her, and she was elated.
1
Landon wasn’t too happy about this, though, and he didn’t say much.
After leaving Landon’s house, Clarissa and Lily strolled around the brightly-lit neighborhood.
“I’ve ruined my image to make you look good. Come on, pay up! A thousand dollars to make up for my
image, and another thousand dollars for doing such a good job.” Clarissa [elt vexed at the thought of
her ruined image.
“Why don’t you go rob a bank? Are you rich people all so frugal?” Lily knew Clarissa had helped her out
with this, so she transferred some money to her.
Ninety-nine cents, to be exact. “Lily Harris!”
“You already have such a rich husband, Clarissa. I’m sure my money means nothing to you.”
They were so engrossed in their conversation that they almost bumped into a woman coming from the
opposite direction. She was walking a dog. “I thought I’d mixed you up with someone else, but it really
is you, Clarissa. What a coincidence! What are you doing here?” Madelynn was dressed casually and
holding onto a Husky. She gave Clarissa a once over, then laughed. “No wonder Damien doesn’t like
you. Are
you sure you’re not deliberately trying to embarrass him by dressing up like this?” Clarissa was
surprised to run into Madelynn here. To top it oil, the latter was being extra ruthless.
“Oh, so you live here.” Clarissa didn’t really want to speak to Madelynn.
Madelynn smiled. “I didn’t buy a house here, it’s… Oh, forget about it. Anyway, It’s under his name, so
you’ll get mad if I were to tell you. He stays here sometimes.”
“You’re just trying to tell me that the house belongs to Damien, don’t you? Since we’re married, half of
everything he owns belongs to me. That means you’re staying in my house as well,” Clarissa retorted
confidently. “You know what else that means? It means I can make you move out any time I want.” 1
Madelynn’s chest heaved with rage. “Look at how stingy you are! I can’t believe that he’s actually
interested in you.”
“Well, he’s interested in someone as stingy as I am, but he’s not interested in the beautiful and
charming Miss York. Don’t you think you should do some introspection?” Clarissa clenched her fists.
“Oh, right. There’s something that I have to speak to you about in private,” Madelynn said in a
commanding tone, dropping the topic abruptly. Lily tugged on Clarissa’s hand, not wanting her to go.
However, Clarissa knew Madelynn was definitely going to lell her something related to Damien. She
was curious to know, so she went with Madelynn.
“Six years ago, when Damien first started his business, be was injured at a construction site Some lime
got into his eyes, and he had to get a comea transplant. He spent a long time in the hospital, waiting for
a donor. He was about to give up when someone in the hospital passed away and donated their
cornea. I was the one who took care of him from day one. We started dating, eventually falling deeply
in love. I don’t want you to bring this up in front o! him, because he doesn’t like people talking about
how his cornea came from someone else. Don’t blame me for not reminding you if he gets angry about
it.” After that, Madelynn le!L.
Clarissa remained rooted to the spot. Her mind had gone blank. She had never spoken a word about
this because her father had, on his deathbed, made her promise not to.
She just hadn’t expected Damien to be bothered by this as well, simply because the cornea didn’t
belong to him. “Look at how cheap you are, really I feel bad for Damien. He doesn’t deserve this!”
Madelynn had already walked a distance away, but she suddenly turned back and took the chance to
mock Clarissa.
