Redmption 65
Redmption 65
I turned and met his dark gaze. I suddenly began to feel guilty out of nowhere.
I looked away and continued walking. “No. I just don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea,” I replied.
“Okay.” His one–word reply left me confused.
Despite my confusion, I remained silent. We were all adults after all.
Boundaries and privacy were important.
Besides, he didn’t seem like a chatty guy.
Silence fell between us yet again, causing the awkward tension to rise. I was, once again, the same person to break the silence and ask, “How quickly can you get these lights fixed?”
“It’s hard to say,” he replied.
I fell silent.
I thought of the agreement between Chris and me and said, “20 days. That’s all I can give you.”
He looked at me. I thought he would say something, but all he said was,
Alright.”
So he was agreeing?
I had nothing else to say after that. Of course, I could still ask about the old landlord lady, but I didn’t.
If not for that old landlord lady, we wouldn’t be so awkward with each other, so bringing her up would only make things even more awkward.
We walked in silence. The walk to the control room was only supposed to be a few minutes, but it felt like a century. I was even beginning to sweat slightly. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
I couldn’t help but admit that I was pretty useless for feeling so awkward. I was perfectly at ease in front of my ex–fiancé, but why was I so awkward in front of some guy I met through a failed blind date?
We finally reached the control room after a long stretch of silence. The wiring
technician was already there, so I briefly introduced them. After that, the
technician looked over the power supply map of the entire amusement park with Brandon.
After they both checked it thoroughly, I asked Brandon, “Is something wrong?”
“No.”
That simple reply let me down. We still hadn’t found an issue after poring over the map for so long, but if Brandon wanted to take a look, that meant he had found a connection between the electricity source and the lighting.
I was kind of confused, but Brandon looked at the technician and said, “Let’s go into the control room to take a look.”
The technician obeyed and led the way. Brandon and I followed closely behind him. Brandon stayed silent the whole time as he studied the wiring and panels closely. I also looked around the wiring
with him, but I didn’t understand anything.
I was beginning to doubt that even Brandon didn’t know what was going on but immediately got rid of that idea when I remembered that he was a lighting engineer.
“This isn’t a 220V source. What is this connected to?” he asked.
The technician checked the label. “It’s for the large facilities in the park.”
“I need the names of all of the facilities that these sources are hooked up to, where they are in the amusement park, and a map of all the lighting,” Brandon said as he looked at me.
I nodded. “I’ll ask Kara to send it over now.”
I immediately called her. Brandon kept walking, and when Thung up, I heard Brandon telling the technician about another issue with the electricity.
Brandon had sharp, dark brows and a clear gaze. Even though he wasn’t particularly youthful looking, he had a powerful air about him, and his features were finely chiseled. His work clothes only added to his cool aura.
I was practically zoned out while staring at him when he suddenly looked up at me. “Come here.
I didn’t know why he was calling me, but jogged over anyway,
In my rush, I completely missed a piece of equipment that was sticking out of the wall and bumped into it as I was jogging over.
Aside from the pain I felt, I also completely lost my balance and fell.
The technician was closest to me, so he reached out to try and stop me. However, Brandon was even faster. As he reached out his arm to stop the technician from touching me, he managed to hold my waist just in time.
His arms were strong and his hands were big and tough. My waist seemed to become a mere twig in his arms.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching us from the door. “Maddie! I got what you asked f–for…”
She trailed off. I knew she must have been taken aback by what she had just walked in on.
