Redmption 83
Redmption 83
“Brandon, what do you mean? Are you using our relationship and last night’s incident to blackmail me?” I confronted him.
“No,” he said without daring to look me in the eye.
That was a clear sign of diffidence. I clenched my fists, feeling the urge to punch him.
“I’m not familiar with everything here. Can’t you help me out? I’ve helped your before too,” Brandon said meekly.
It felt like if I didn’t help him, I’d be ungrateful.
Indeed, debts whether they were monetary or favors, must be repaid.
I sighed. “Alright, Mr. Howell. Where do you want to go today? What do your want to buy? Tell me so I can take you.”
“I want to look at some houses,” he said, catching me off guard.

I stared at him. “Houses? Aren’t you going back after finishing your work here?”
“I might not go back, so I’m looking in advance.” Brandon’s words choked me
1. up.
I didn’t understand why I felt this way, but it was strange. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
“Your company isn’t even here.” I reminded him.
“I can quit!”
I was speechless.
“Oh, and I’m not buying a house. I’m renting. I’m broke and can’t afford to buy.” Brandon had no shame in exposing his financial situation.
This was rare. These days, many men put on a front, buying luxury cars and watches on credit to keep up appearances. But Brandon openly admitted he was broke.
“And you still want to quit your job?” I mumbled.
He didn’t respond, as if he hadn’t heard me.
Maybe it was his admission of being broke that made me feel pity for him. I ended up driving him to the city center.
“This is downtown. The rent must be high,” he remarked.
“It’s cheaper in the suburbs, but it’s far and inconvenient to commute. As an engineer, you’ll probably work in the CBD area. Renting in the city center saves time,” I advised.
He fell silent. Thinking about his poverty, I added, “I can lend you money. You can pay me back when you have it.”
“Are you trying to be my sugar mama?” Brandon’s unexpected comment caught me off guard and made me choke again.
I glared at him, thinking of his vague feelings for me and recalling that he had once considered marrying me.
With a mocking smirk, I said, “You’re thinking too much. I, myself, longed for a
sugar daddy to take care of me.”
Brandon’s face darkened slightly, I started the car. “Let’s go check out the
suburbs then.”
As soon as we arrived at the real estate agency in the suburbs, my phone rang before we could get out of the car.
“Hello… What? Okay, I’ll come back right away.” I hung up and turned to
Brandon. “You go ahead and look by yourself. I have something to deal with.”
Brandon didn’t move. “What’s the matter?”
I didn’t hide it. “The water pipes in my house are broken. I need to find
someone to fix them.”
The call had been from my downstairs neighbor, saying water was flooding into the hallway.
“I can fix it.” Brandon’s words startled me
I was about to say something when he added, “If you delay any longer, the water might damage other people’s houses. You might have to pay for their repairs.”
He seemed to know everything. Without further ado, I drove him to my place.
As soon as we entered the hallway, we saw water gushing everywhere. Several people were gathered, pointing and talking.
I over, took a quick look,
Brandon got out of the car faster than I did. He walke
and asked, “Where’s the main water valve?”
A neighbor pointed to an iron plate on the ground. “It’s under there, but it’s all rusted. We can’t twist it.”
Before they finished speaking, Brandon had already lifted the cover. He turned to me. “Which floor and unit is your apartment?”
“Fourth floor, east unit.”
As soon as I finished speaking, I saw him kneel on the ground. Lying flat on the ground, he stretched out his arm, and forcefully turned the rusty valve.
