Love’ss

Love’ss 189

Madelyn couldn’t comprehend what was happening to her. She felt an overwhelming urge to provide

Serena with everything excellent in the world.

Serena was such a petite being, yet no amount of love and care seemed enough.

Madelyn had never been particularly fond of children before. Even though she now longed for a child with Andrew, she couldn’t help but wonder why she felt this way toward Serena,

“Mommy.” Serena’s soft voice pulled Madelyn out of her thoughts.

Madelyn shifted her gaze to Serena.

“What is it, sweetheart?”

“The dress is pretty.”

“Yes. I’m glad you like it, sweetheart.”

Madelyn couldn’t resist kissing Serena’s adorable face,

Then she turned to Melinda.

“I consulted a doctor and brought some nutritional supplements for her. You can follow the instructions I wrote down when giving them to Serena. They’ll be good for her health.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

Madelyn wasn’t sure what Serena could and couldn’t eat,

so she bought everything based on the recommendations of Serena’s doctor, with precise quantities as advised.

Melinda recognized the brands of the nutritional supplements. She had wanted to buy them for Serenal before but couldn’t afford them, so she had to make do with the bare essentials.

Seeing what Madelyn had bought, she nodded gratefully.

“Thank you. I’ll make sure she takes them.”

Madelyn held Serena for a while as she was reluctant to let go. Eventually, Serena fell asleep in her arms.

Gazing at her long, curly eyelashes, Madelyn noticed a resemblance to Andrew.

She wondered if meeting Serena could be fate.

Melinda approached.

“Let’s move her to the bed. She’ll sleep more comfortably.”

“Okay,” Madelyn agreed.

Melinda placed Serena on the bed just as a nurse entered with the day’s test reports, which would be needed for the next day’s rounds.

Madelyn took them, thanked the nurse, and then glanced at Serena’s lab results. She was shocked to learn that Serena had the rare P blood type, the same as hers.

“Is Serena also P blood type?” Madelyn asked Melinda.

Melinda nodded.

“Yes. That’s why I’m so concerned about finding a bone marrow match for her.”

People with type P blood were rare, making it incredibly difficult to find a compatible donor.

Madelyn fell silent and clipped the report to the IV stand. With a hint of worry, she looked at Serena, who looked frail in the bed.

“She’s lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw her

“She’s been throwing up everything she eats,” Melinda said, her voice heavy with sadness.

Madelyn nodded.

“Make sure she takes the nutritional supplements. She needs them right now.”

“Got it.”

They continued talking for a while as Serena slept.

Eventually, Melinda asked, “Are you working these days?”

“Yes,” Madelyn replied with a note of pride in her voice.

Melinda’s surprised look caught Madelyn’s attention.

“Why? Do I not look like I work?”

“No. It’s just unexpected,” Melinda answered.

“Unexpected?”

“Yeah!”

Melinda smiled.

She had always assumed that socialites didn’t work and just lived off their spouses‘ money. Madelyn’s generosity had led her to believe the same. So, she was surprised to hear that Madelyn mentioned she was working when she called that day.

With a renewed sense of resolve, Melinda was determined to find a way to repay and show her appreciation for Madelyn.

Madelyn returned her smile.

“There’s nothing unusual about it. Everyone has their own life and responsibilities. That’s what gives life meaning,”

“Yes, you’re right,” Melinda agreed.

For the first time, Melinda realized that even those in high society could lead meaningful lives. She hadn’t known any other wealthy women, as her focus had been solely on her child since adopting Serena.
