Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

The Devil

“And ding dong! I succeeded!” He said and started laughing.

“You’re a monster!” Jessie yelled.

A dark smile spread across Jaime’s face, and the cruelty in his eyes was unmistakable.

“Oh, but I’m not a monster, my dear. I’m just a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to take it. And what I wanted was to destroy your relationship with Alexander, and I did. Isn’t that what you wanted? For him to suffer as much as you did?” he asked, a mocking tone in his voice. “But now you know the truth, and it’s not a pretty one, is it?”

Jessie felt sick to her stomach. She wanted to run away, but she was frozen in place. She couldn’t believe that she actually slept with such a monster.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

“I can’t believe I slept with you. You’re such a monster!”

Jaime scoffed.

“So now that I have you, all I need to do is break Alexander until there’s nothing left for him.”

Jessie furrowed.

“What are you talking about?”

Jaime smiled a grim smile.

“I’m going to take everything that Alex has and make sure he doesn’t recover from it… I’m gonna destroy his life by taking his company, contract and that new bride of his.” He revealed.

Jessie couldn’t believe that she was involved with such a monster.

Jessie felt a wave of panic wash over her. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“What are you going to do?” she asked, her voice trembling.

“I’m going to make Alexander’s life a living hell.” Jaime said, his eyes glittering with malice. “I’m going to take everything he has and make sure he never gets it back. And I’m going to do it with your help.”

“No!” Jessie shouted, her heart racing. “I won’t help you do that to him!”

Jaime’s face twisted into a cruel smile.

“You don’t have a choice.” he said, his voice low and menacing. “You see, I have something on you, and if you don’t do what I say, I’ll make sure everyone finds out about it.”

Jessie felt a knot of fear in her stomach. What could he possibly have on her? She had never done anything wrong, so what could he use against her?

“What are you talking about?” she asked, dreading the answer.

“Let’s just say that your little tryst with Jaime wasn’t as secret as you thought it was.” he said, his words. “If word got out that you slept with me when you were dating Alexander Shim, you know what they would call you? A whore! And also, you will lose your job you so desperately wanted a promotion.” He revealed.

Jessie realized that she had slept with the devil without her knowing and now she’s in a lot of mess.

Jessie felt like the world was closing in on her. She had thought she was so careful, but clearly she had made a mistake. And now it was going to cost her everything. She didn’t know what to do. She felt lost and alone, like there was no one she could turn to.

Meanwhile, Marissa had just returned from the hospital after she had visited her brother and decided to relax on the couch and watch tv when she heard the doorbell.

She wondered who it was and decided to ask before she opened the door.

“Who is it?” she called out.

A familiar voice replied, “It’s me, Anderson.”

Marissa felt a surge of relief at the sound of her friend’s voice. She opened the door, and Anderson walked in,

“Mr. Anderson, what brings you here?” she asked, concerned.

He sat down on the couch and spoke.

“I called Alexander and he informed me that you were home, because I told him that I wanted to see him to discuss something.” he said.

“Oh… I hope there’s no problem?” she asked, concern on her face.

“No, not at all. I just wanted to see him and discuss work related matters. You know since I am his lawyer and all.” he said, trying to reassure her, but Marissa felt there was something going on and Anderson didn’t want to tell her.

“So you are now officially Alexander Shim’s wife since he announced that he wants to make his marriage with you public.” Anderson said, trying to change the topic to ease the tension in the air.

Marissa scratched her hair and blushed. “Yeah… I guess I am.”

Anderson noticed that she blushed and smiled. “Well, I’m glad that you’re happy. I actually had liked you from the very first day we met when you spoke the honest truth to Alex. Telling him he was an asshole and a selfish, arrogant prick.”

“Hahaha… yeah, I guess I kinda did.” she laughed.

“Well, thanks to you for speaking out the truth to him. He needed to hear that and I guess that’s what made him change.” Anderson said.

Marissa smiled.

“What can I get you?” she asked.

“Can I have a cup of coffee?” Anderson asked. “Please, and make it strong.”

Marissa smiled and went into the kitchen to make Anderson a cup of coffee. As she filled the pot with water, she thought about the conversation she’d just had with Anderson. She was still a little confused about what was going on with him and Alex, but she was glad that Alex seemed to be changing for the better. She hoped that the changes were real, and not just a temporary thing.

When the coffee was ready, she poured a cup for Anderson and brought it to him. He took a sip and let out a satisfied sigh.

“This is just what I needed.” he said, his eyes closing for a moment. “Thank you, Marissa.”

“You’re welcome.” she said, feeling a bit more at ease. “I’m glad I could help.”

“You’ve helped more than you know.” he said, his eyes meeting hers. “Thank you for being a friend and a fake wife to Alexander when he really needed one.”
