Chapter 109
Chapter 109
Lucy looked at the test results on the table after hearing Scott's warning.
She kept her hands clenched and remained silent. She was well aware that if she did anything else at this time, Scott would be enraged.
"How is this even possible? You are taking their side!"
Owen exclaimed as he opened his eyes wide after receiving the test results.
He had no idea that Anika’s mother had saved a sample of her umbilical cord blood.
The daughter of Elliot got lost when she was three years old, but her cord blood was preserved when she was born.
As a result, this appraisal report was sufficient to establish Anika's identity.
"You "
Anika's cold voice interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.
Owen had intended to say that he had not returned home in so many years, and that he could not possibly return at this critical juncture.
Anika's cold voice interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.
"You do not have to lie any longer, Owen.Do you think you will be able to keep your dirty deeds with Chuck a secret from others?"
Owen was stunned, his eyes twitching as if he felt guilty as soon as these words were spoken.
Lucy furrowed her brows.
Owen could not deny it any longer, no matter how hard he tried.
Her eyes were filled with mixed emotions as she looked at her.
"Anika, you won again” she said, word by word, pulling the corner of her mouth back.
She had never won against Anika, either in terms of success or emotions.
Until now, the first sixteen years of an enviable, smooth life had been nothing.
She had no idea how to get Anika's shadow out of her life.
"Lucy, I have already clarified that whatever you want to do has no impact on me.Please don't bother me again."
"It is none of your concern?" Lucy said, her brows furrowed.
"You destroyed everything for me. How can you still say it has nothing to do with you?" Lucy was furious.
If Anika hadn't returned, Lucy wouldn't have lost her grandfather's affection and would have gotten engaged to Kayden.
She would have been nothing like this.
"It ought to be yours. No one can take it from you, but not everything is yours."
Anika turned away from Lucy and looked at Owen after she finished speaking.
"You hired a malicious writer to slander my name and the company's image.I have already informed the authorities. The cops should be on the lookout for you soon."
When Owen heard this, he flashed back to the days when Anika had called the cops and had him detained.
His expression shifted almost instantly.
He said, with an embarrassed smile, "Everything is a misunderstanding.I'm doing this because I'm worried about my identity being compromised."
"Lucy, please help me persuade your cousin,’’ Owen said as he noticed Anika's expression.
Lucy, on the other hand, turned around to avoid Owen's hand.
"I am sorry, but I am unable to assist you.” Her demeanor was cold and distant.
"What do you mean, Lucy?"
"I mean, I am not going to help you"
Owen had not expected her to turn against him.
In a rush, his face flushed with rage, and he lunged forward to slap Lucy.
After being stopped by Scott, Owen cursed Lucy and pointed at her.
"You ungrateful woman! I am your uncle, have you forgotten? Can't you understand why I am doing this?"
Owen's slap had a lot of force behind it.
Despite Scott's intervention, Lucy fell onto the sofa as a result of his forces.
She bit her lower lip and covered her face.
"I did not ask you to do anything, Uncle Owen. You made a mistake, so you deserve to be punished"
Owen had planned everything from start to finish, and it had nothing to do with Lucy.
Lucy was well aware that Owen only wanted to get in touch with her in order to locate Scott.
This was his way of getting back the shares from Anika.
‘’How could I really let myself be so stupid?’’ Lucy thought.
Owen would not have come looking for Anika if she had no use.
The mystery surrounding Anika's identity was finally solved.
Owen was detained by the cops on suspicion of libel.
Chuck and his son persisted in their search for Anika, but they were immediately reported to the police.
They had no choice but to surrender after two failed attempts.
Anika had not been to the company in over a week after returning to Florida due to personal matters.
Sara finally gave her some good news on her first day back at work.
"CF ultimately decided that NY Company and NK Bio would co-supply different product lines," said Directors Meyers and Miles.
NY Company was happy with the result, even though they did not get an exclusive supply from CF. Anika was ecstatic.
"He had a difficult time’ Sara said as she handed her the authorization letter. Please inform Director Miles that he will be given ten days off. There is no need to hurry back to work’’
"That's really unfortunate.I'm afraid Director Miles won't be able to return home."
"I've heard that Director Miles’ wife is pregnant, Sara continued, seeing Anika's puzzled expression.Director Miles was Anika's old colleague, and his wife, Lisa, was also courteous to her.” Lisa had made a significant contribution to her ability to locate Director Miles back then.
"He must be overjoyed."
Anika shook her head and laughed, "Then help me shop for some gifts for pregnant women and send them to Lisa"
"Alright” Sara replied with a smile.
Anika received a Viber from Kayleigh when she returned home from work.
Kayleigh: [Anika, this weekend is my grandfather's birthday.Would you like to join us? Grandpa requested that I ask you.It appears that Grandpa wants to announce my brother's engagement]
Anika pondered for a long time as she looked at this Viber message. She quickly took a screenshot and sent it to Zac, who had not yet returned from overtime.
Zac: [What about this?]
Anika: [Do you want to go?]
Anika: (Actually, Grandpa Philipp was asking for me.]
She explained after more than ten seconds of waiting for Zac to respond.
Despite the fact that Kayleigh was aware of the situation, she still wanted to relay the invitation from Grandpa Philipp.
The old man instructed Kayleigh to ask whether Anika would be willing to come.
And so, if she was going to the celebration, she should not go alone. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Anika finally got Zac's message ten minutes later.
[Well, okay.Let's go.]
There was one more sentence after that: [Tonight, I would like to eat stewed beef.]
Anika gave a warm smile. She could already imagine the man's hesitant acceptance of the invitation.
The President's Office is located in the LH Building.
Frederick knocked on the door and walked in just as Tony and Zac finished discussing the next project for a partnership with the Coter Group.
"What is it?"
"Boss, should I ask Mrs.Jenkins about Grandpa Philipp's birthday present?" Zac was unconcerned about such a minor detail.
"Well, ask her before you buy it" he simply said, nodding his head.
Frederick quickly turned around and walked away.
Tony, who was tinkering with the coffee machine, was taken aback.
"Are you also attending Grandpa Philipp's birthday banquet?"
"Why, am I not allowed to come?" Zac frowned.
"No, it's not like that at all. Have you met Kayden lately?"
Tony inquired softly, his lips curling.
"Here we go again."
Zac chuckled and slid the documents he was holding into the drawer slowly.
"Do I still have to think about him?" he asked sluggishly.
"Hal, I wonder who was the person who looked at Kayden every day back then and said that he was not pleasing to the eye,’ Tony grumbled in a neutral tone.
"Oh, that's because he's ugly” Zac spoke in a soft tone.
Tony was quiet.
Kayden's appearance could not possibly be unrelated to ugliness.
He would see the beauty in his lover's eyes, but he would never see the ugliness in his adversary's eyes.
Zac was still incredible.
It had to be said.
Tony abandoned his plan to argue with Zac and walked over to him, handing him the freshly brewed coffee.
"No, stop drinking coffee."
Zac shoved the coffee into his face.
"What is there to hate about coffee?"
Tony frowned as he finished speaking and looked at the green tea on Zac's table.
"What has recently happened to you? Are you still alive?"
Zac gave him a sidelong glance and raised his brows.
"If you're married, you will want to live for a hundred years. You'd have no idea’’ Tony shrugged his shoulders.
Well, he really didn't understand.
