Chapter 29 A Turn Of Events
Utter silence and shock engulfed the atmosphere as soon as the manager’s words fell.
Eleanor and Cedric were both waiting to watch a good show. Little did they expect that there would be
such a turn of events. Their contemptuous countenance morphed into puzzlement and fear instantly.
“Globetrotter Winery’s VIP card? How is that possible?” The two stared at each other.
They were not only the ones reacting that way. Even Julianna could not believe her ears.
The card Christopher pulled out was not only Globetrotter Winery’s VIP black card but also something
even the employees had never seen before. After going through the rounds of sarcasm and mockery,
tears began rolling down Julianna’s cheeks uncontrollably.
In fact, she did not ask for too much. Neither was she someone who would go around bragging to
others. All she wanted was for no one to publicly insult Christopher and her.
By now, that female lobby attendant was breaking out in cold sweat, and her legs were shaky from the
intense shock. That VIP black card… How much must one spend to get it?
On the other hand, Eleanor had reached her breaking point. It was her original intention to ridicule
Christopher. However, the harsh reality was like a slap in her face. Losing her sanity because of the
drastic difference, she bellowed, “H-How is that possible? Aren’t the VIP cards of Globetrotter Winery in
red or gold only?”
Fuming with anger, Cedric glared intensely at the manager with his bloodshot eyes and chimed in,
“Yeah, how can a country bumpkin like him get a VIP black card?”
“Shut up. What you two just said is an insult to my esteemed guest. Globetrotter Winery reserves the
right to sue you. With our influence, I’m sure it’ll not be a problem to get you two locked up in the cell
for a few months.” The manager was not amused and snarled frostily.
Don’t they know their status well? How dare they mock our guests? They’re blatantly trying to provoke
Globetrotter Winery! Rarely has anyone in Jadeborough ever taunted us so openly!
The manager’s words were like a bucket of cold water splashing onto Cedric and Eleanor, swiftly
calming the blazing fury within them and causing them to shrink away. As much as Christopher and
Julianna did not pay too much heed to those words the pair said, they were not in place to say anything
since it had something to do with Globetrotter Winery.
“No, don’t get us wrong. That’s not what we meant.” Cedric’s voice was shaking.
“Not what you meant? You two were extremely clear with your words. We’ve just sent a trespasser to
the police station earlier today. It looks like you two want to join him there!” the manager snapped.
“Julianna… Christopher… Um, Mr. Yaeger, we…” The pair was gravely terrified. It was Globetrotter
Winery whom they had offended!
“Mister, it’s fine. They’re both my wife’s friends. They were even so eager about helping me find a job
just now,” Christopher muttered with a faint smile.
Upon hearing what he said, Cedric and Eleanor felt their faces flushed red, almost as if someone had
given them several tight slaps.
Indeed. Why would someone holding Globetrotter Winery’s VIP card need job recommendations from
them when he could easily fork out money to buy over their factory?
Admiration and respect replaced the scowl on the manager’s face. “Sir, you sure are a magnanimous
man,” he praised with a smile.
Christopher then swept his gaze toward the couple again. Noticing their faces had turned crimson red,
he continued, “Since you guys have treated us to a meal earlier, we should return the favor. Excuse
me, please bring us a few bottles of red wines around the range of thirty thousand!”
“Sir, you must be making fun of us. We wouldn’t dare take out those wines. Instead, let me get you a
few bottles of Lafite from our collection right away,” the manager answered smilingly.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
