Chapter 2221
Chapter 2221
"I don't know what happened to your brother, but he refused to see Ruth this time when I usually didn't allow him to." Madam Quartley complained to Tremaine, baffled by Zorion's behavior.
Tremaine's eyes darkened. "I told him not to."
Madam Quartley was stunned.
"They shouldn't get too close, so it's best if they don't see each other."
Madam Quartley said no more, thinking Tremaine was right.
She had hoped Ruth and Zorion wouldn't see each other anyway. However, when she saw how pitiable when Ruth was giving birth, she couldn't help feeling bad for her.
"Grandma, where's the baby?" Tremaine asked again, "You didn't take the baby with you?"
"The baby is still with her," Madam Quartley replied. "The doctor said Ruth is able to produce breast milk, so I had her feed the baby."
Tremaine frowned.
He then said solemnly, "Grandma, if you don't plan on letting Ruth raise the baby, then they should separate from now. She doesn't have to feed the baby; we can use formula."
But Madam Quartley was an old-fashioned lady after all.
She quickly replied, "That won't do! It's not as good as a mother's milk. I had thought she certainly wouldn't be able to produce breast milk seeing how skinny Ruth is. But who would've thought the doctor actually said she can. In that case, the baby has to be fed his mother's milk. As for separating the two..." Madam Quartley pondered for a moment. "Yuliana can't take care of this baby; I haven't decided who yet. We'll talk about it later."
Tremaine still had something to say but decided not to after thinking about it.
There was still Qiana to deal with; he didn't have the energy to deal with so many things at one go.
He then said solemnly, "Alright, you think about it, Grandma."
As he was about to leave, Madam Quartley stopped him.
She asked uneasily, "Tremaine, is Yuliana still not willing to see anyone?"
"Yes."
Madam Quartley then blamed herself, "Alas, it's all my fault. Let her do as she pleases. Give her some alone time."
Tremaine took a trip to the hospital.
Yuliana was already out of danger, but her injury was more severe than the doctors had anticipated. As the wound was deep, it was infected after the operation.
Because of that, she had been groggy, semiconscious, the entire time.
Tremaine asked the doctor when Yuliana would wake up.
But they weren't sure either.
All they could promise was that her life was no longer in danger.
"Will she stay like this forever?" Tremaine frowned, looking grim.
If Yuliana fell into a vegetative state, he wouldn't be able to find out anything from her.
The doctor replied, "No, she'll wake up eventually. But we can't say for sure when. Probably days, or even months."
Tremaine was about to speak when a call came.
It was Sheldon.
He stepped aside before answering the call.
"Mr. Tremaine, I have all the information you've requested of Qiana," Sheldon said over the phone,C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
"Should I bring them to you now?"
Tremaine's expression turned grave as he said, "Send them right away."
Fifteen minutes later, Tremaine returned to the Quartley Palace.
At the same time, Sheldon had come with the investigation results.
Tremaine spent half an hour reading everything.
After he was done reading, a thought crossed his mind.
Tremaine went to Montez's study.
Montez was by himself, doing his homework.
Seeing Tremaine, Montez put down his pen and greeted, "Daddy, you're here."
Tremaine nodded.
Montez bit the tip of his pen and commented, "Daddy, I can't shake off the feeling everyone has been acting weird lately. Am I imagining things?" Tremaine didn't reply instantly.
Montez had been very well behaved lately, not causing any trouble. But to Tremaine's surprise, it was because he noticed something was off in Quartley Palace.
He naturally didn't want Montez to know about the disputes within their home.
Tremaine replied, "Yeah, you're imagining things."
"Oh," Montez replied.
He then muttered, "Well, things have been strange since Yesseca left."
Hearing her name, a dull pain flashed across Tremaine's eyes.
But he concealed it in no time.
Tremaine walked over and patted Montez's head. "Do your homework. Don't think too much about it. You're still a child, and your job is to study." "Okay," Montez replied.
Just as Tremaine was about to leave, Montez stopped him.
Hesitant, he asked cautiously, "Daddy, I... I've been meaning to ask... Is Yesseca okay? She's been gone for so long. How is she doing? Is she happy?"
"She's very happy," Tremaine said with certainty.
Montez seemed relieved.
He then added, "Daddy, one more thing. I believe Yesseca is good. She won't do anything bad; she's very nice."
Tremaine smiled wryly.
Montez was right.
Who would've thought he was no better than his son.
"She sure is. I'm the one to blame." Tremaine said before he left.
The moment he stepped out of the door, he looked at his open palm.
There was a strand of hair on it.
The following day.
Qiana was surprised to learn her father had come to Nashaland to see her.
Wesley told Qiana his career in
Agaphen City was quickly
deteriorating and that he would be dismissed soon. He hoped she could put in a good word to Tremaine for him, giving him a spot in the Nashaland government.

Qiana didn't meet up with her father at the Quartley Palace.
Instead, they rendezvoused at a cafe.
Seeing her once superior father humbly begging before her, Qiana felt an unspeakable burst of pleasure in her heart.
She then said with a deadpan voice,
"Dad, I've already told you; you'll
definitely get a share of the cake
once I become the first lady. Whyet
are you coming to me in a rush? If people learn of it, they'd say I'm already fishing benefits for family before even becoming the first lady."
Wesley laughed dryly. "Yes, I'm not considerate enough. But I can't help wanting to see you."
Qiana snorted.

As she was about to leave, someone from the wedding planning company called and said they wanted to
collect a few strands of her hair as a memento for the wedding. Content Belongs to
Hearing that, she immediately had the person come over to the cafe.
She purposely wanted her father to witness!
She wanted him to know how dearly Tremaine thought of her, even thinking of using their hair as a memento of their wedding.
