Chapter 13
Candice narrowed her eyes. “I just don’t want the girl to overthink. It’s not necessary.”
Alex picked up his pen again and signed his name on the document. He tossed it back in her face with a frosty look. “Fine. You can explain it to her.”
Candice hummed a reply and was about to leave with the document.
Then Alex’s hand, holding his pen, froze for a moment and he called out, “Tell Sonia to come to me if there’s anything work–related.
Candice stopped.
Alex continued, “You don’t have to come in anymore.”
On the next day, Sonia’s innocent and bright smile returned to her adorable face again. Alex must have said something to her.
When Sonia came into the office with her hands around Alex’s arm and greeted Candice, the caution and inquisition in her eyes disappeared.
The girl was too young to learn how to conceal her emotions or hold secrets. While she was chatting with the other employees about relationships, she jokingly confirmed her relationship with Alex.
Sonia and Alex’s official relationship spread across the company.
Even when Candice was beside or near Sonia with the other girls, they could still joke and chat about it.
Alex must have said some sweet nothings to Sonia yesterday as she no longer avoided delicate topics and chose to go along with the flow when she struck conversation with Candice.

“Candice, have you gotten yourself a boyfriend?”
Candice’s hand that held the mouse froze. She looked at Sonia and asked, “Alex told you that?”
“He didn’t.” Sonia teased with a raised eyebrow and giggled. “He said it’s your privacy and we should not pry too much, but I think you’ve gotten a boyfriend.”
Sonia looked at Candice straightly because the hickey on her neck remained.
Candice looked down for a moment before looking back up at Sonia.
The nervous inquisitive look in the girl’s eyes was obvious, as if she was afraid

Candice looked at her. Before Sonia’s wide grin could reach both ends of her earlobes, she said calmly, “Yeah, I found someone.”
As soon as her voice subsided, the door of the CEO’s office opened. Alex emerged and his gaze was fixated on Candice for only a moment before he retracted his

Sonia’s smile remained bright as she went over to the man to curl her hands around his arm.
“Alex, I was right. Candice got a boyfriend.”
Alex hummed a reply and then nonchalantly looked at Candice. “When did that happen?”
Candice’s body turned stiff all of a sudden, but she bit the bullet and said, “A few days ago.”
Sonia then tugged Alex’s arm and asked softly, “Can Candice bring her boyfriend to the upcoming party? I want to see what kind of man has won her heart.”
Candice frowned. She wanted to stop Sonia but Alex said, “Okay, I want to see who’s the lucky guy as well.”
Neither did he give her the chance to speak nor even tell her what kind of party it was. He just simply decided for her.
Candice’s mood was ruined. When she drove home, her thoughts drifted away and she did not notice her gas tank was leaking.
She was only made aware of the situation when she was pulled over by the traffic police.
Her car was towed away.
Candice was in a terrible location to hail a taxi. She had been waiting for more than ten minutes by the roadside and still no taxi was sighted.
Her phone was running low on battery, so with all options exhausted, she decided to call Alex.
“The number you dialed does not exist, please check it and dial later.”
The monotonous voice was the only answer she got.
Candice was slightly stunned. She checked the number and made the call again.
The same monotonous voice sounded.

As if Candice was trying to challenge the automated reply, she dialed the number that she imprinted in her mind again and again.
“The number you dialed does not exist, please check it and dial later.”
Meanwhile, in GT716 Bar’s VIP room, Alex was peeling grapes on the couch. The purple skin of the grapes made his slender fingers look longer.
He put the peeled grapes on the plate and then forked one to Sonia’s mouth. “ Here.”
Sonia glared at him. “There are people here!”
Alex wiped his hand and leaned back on the couch lazily. “No one will steal from you because I peeled them for you.”
