Chapter 88
“You cannot be serious about this, father,” Holden argues with Chief Blackwood the moment that Hayden follows Elise down the balcony steps.
His eyes were dark and intense with jealousy and anger that a strange girl from somewhere could have his birthright.
“She is Edgar’s daughter; the throne belongs to her; we all know that I’ve been keeping this seat warm for him; this is a promise I kept to Edgar Hale,” he mutters.
“She could be lying about her mother, father! You cannot just give the seat to a stranger; for all we know, she was sent by Dexton to infiltrate our pack and destroy us from her father; you cannot allow this!” Holden argues.
“There aren’t any laws that stop her from claiming this seat,” Hayden’s voice cuts in. He’d come back from his chambers, leaving Elise there. “We all know she is a true royal calhan wolf; her beast looks like ours; she is one of us; no, even more powerful than us.” Hayden concludes.
It drives Holden mad, his hands bound into a tight fist till his palms turn white, his jaws slack with irritation, his nose flared, and his eyes dark with a glare as he turns back to his father. “We still cannot allow this! I will not.”
“There are two options for you to get the throne have her choose you as her mate or duel with her; we shall see who wins,” Chief Blackwood suggests.
“I fear there is no need for that; she already won a duel with him,” Hayden says. It makes his twin’s face red from embarrassment, knowing he’d lost to the same person he’s shaming for being weak.
“You b**d..” Holden mutters, “This was your plan all along, huh? You knew all along and formed a plan with her to take over the throne as king and leave me with nothing. All for that b***h!” He snarls.
“Watch what you say about her brother; I have no problem unleashing the anger I’m feeling right now,” Hayden snarls back, letting a shimmer of his powers rise to the surface.
“Silence, both of you,” their father mutters.
“Father, before Mother passed, you said site was a seer, and she told you her vision of a white wolf, with powers never seen before, that is Elise; she had all the gifted powers, father; I have seen it myself; she is not like other wolves; she is strong and has been through so much.” Hayden asserts.
Very well, but thit will needs to be her decidong we need to know what she wants and if she still wants to leave after this Chief Blackwood says.
“Of course the wants to leave, she has been eager to she doesn’t trust us, and neither do ! trust her!”
“Holden’” His father roars, making the beta keep quiet. “Her decision, her choice, could change our lives and destiny forever, son.”
“Thank you, Father.” Hayden calls with a bow before both males are dismissed. The minute they reach the end of the hall, Holden grabs his brother’s inds to stop him.
“You are not going to let a stranger become our ruler, will you?” Holden asks, his tone irate with anger.
“She will if she wants to.”
“That b**h will do no such thing”
Bang! Hayden slams his brother into the walls. “I’ve told you not to talk about her that way: in the last few weeks she’s been here, El has done more than you ever have.” He snarls at brother.
his
“You are far too gone; what did she do to you, witchcraft? How are you so lost because of a woman? She doesn’t want to come to your bed, and he won’t f**k you, so stop being pushed by the thought of a female c**t.” Holden chuckled.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Hayden pulls his hands from his brother’s scrunched-up collar, his eyes crestfallen from his brother’s words as he shoves him. “F**k you, Holden.”
“Likewise, so do yourself a favor and go find a w**e at a bar to f**k; instead of w**g out Elise’s name, it will never happen,” he mutters before he walks away.
A deep irritation settles in his bone dangerous things, but he’d want the benefit of the doubt for him. Hayden takes a deep
for Holden. He knows his brother is capable of breath, cooling himself. He knows what he wants, and his wolf does too, and he knows for a fact that Elise being pregnant should have him running from the hills and far away from her. but he couldn’t control what he felt. What he wants.
Who would have thought the town’s Casanova would fall for a female who was pregnant for another man?
He walks back out into the festival, with the banquet in full bloom. A girl walks eyes sultry and seductive as she puts
a palm to his hard peck, her scent sickly sweet, an
up to him, her
invitation for him to ***k her.

But Hayden pulled her hands away, he couldn’t think right now, his thoughts were only filled with Elise, and a panic settled him as he wondered if she’d stay.
Hayden knows he needs to cool down, so he leaves the party, cutting off the female’s advances; he doesn’t even answer when his friends call; he races out to the woods, swiftly shifting into his large gray beast; he runs for miles, till the once bright, lively evening is now quiet after the banquet has ended.
Instead of going back to the palace, he returns’to his home, the private cabin he built from scratch, a long-standing tradition that all unmarried males built to show their potential as mates and as sanctuaries for their rut.
He heads to his home still in wolf form, and when he notices someone sitting by the porch of his two-story home, he can recognize that redhead from anywhere: Elise.
“Um, hey,” she starts. “Jax told me you went on a run. Can we talk?” She asks Hayden, and his mighty, dark gray wolf stalks towards her, using his paw to push open the door. A quiet invitation, which she accepts.
He goes into another room downstairs, leaving Elise to explore the living room. It was. designed as an open space, with its beautiful walls filled with intricate designs. His dark blue curtains fit the shade of his chair, tying in with the dark oak woodwork.
He’s showered in under five minutes, his hair still dripping in water but fully clothed and back to human. Hayden was anxious about her answer, to say the least.
“Abby ran more tests on me after you left… The baby is doing fine,” she starts. “… I planned to leave the very first day I woke up, but when you fold me this was the callan pack, I wanted to know who I was, and I found out. Having a whole pack as my birthright to lead isn’t going to make me stay, Hayden,” she says, and Hayden feels his heart plummet.
“But
you are, Hayden; you are the reason,” she says, and hope shines in his gaze. He could see the trust in her eyes for him. He watches every move as she walks closer to him, taking a deep breath before he mutters.
“As I said, I’m in it if you want me to be; I do not care if it’s a fake marriage of convenience; let me carry your burdens, El,” he says.
“I am broken,” she cries. “I have been for a long time, and I don’t want to be anyone’s burden.”
“You are no one’s burden, and I will be here with you, pregnant and all; we can go slow,” he calls with a joking smirk that makes Elise let out a breath of laughter.
“Beautiful.” he whispers, watching her smile. “You have no idea what that smile does to me.”
He says.
“Hayden,” she warns.
“You’re right, slowly, and at your own pace.” They lean in close, their eyebrows touching, needing each other to feel so natural. “So does that mean I get to be yours?” He says this to Elise.
“It’s a fake marriage; I don’t expect you to be loyal.”
“I will; I f**g will be,” he answers quickly.
“It might take time before…”
“And I will wait,” he answers yet again. It causes a smile to spread on Elise’s lips.
“You are something else, aren’t you?” She mutters, biting her lips as she leans in, taking in his sandalwood scent. “Care to close this deal with a handshake?” She mutters.
“More like a kiss,” he counters, but he sees her brows rise in surprise and is scared he’s gone offline. … I’m joking, I-” He is cut off by Elise pressing her soft lips to his. His eyes shone with wonder at just a short taste of her.
“This isn’t my final answer, but still,” she mutters.
He wondered if he was doing the right thing; this was torture enough not to be able to ravish and worship her body completely.
Even if she would never love him, he would still wait till she accepted him, and that day he would never allow her to forget the taste of him on her tongue. He promises to raise hell for the people who hurt her.
For her, he’d do anything. He’d risk it all.
