Chapter 60
Nelson remembered the auction day when Sabrina humbled herself. She wanted to repurchase the brooch at double the price.
Sabrina wanted to explain that it was a keepsake from her father. However, Nelson had interrupted her.
It was also the same day she said she would divorce him if he gave her the brooch. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Nelson looked at Sabrina.
Simon recounted Sabrina's father's interesting stories while she listened attentively. Her eyes sparkled like finely cut diamonds.
After taking their seats, Sabrina thanked Simon for sharing stories about her father from before he was married. She couldn't handle hard liquor. But upon learning Simon's love for drinking, she drank glass after glass with him.
As an experienced old man, Simon could see Sabrina's sincerity. He felt that she truly resembled her father.
Simon felt an instant connection with Sabrina. As her elder, he hesitated to continue drinking with her.
Thus, he turned to Nelson and asked, "Nel, why do you seem so distracted today?"
"I made a mistake," Nelson replied.
As he leaned back, he casually draped his arm over the back of Sabrina's chair and glanced down.
Simon understood.
"So, the injury on your face is from Sabrina?"
Nelson paused slightly and chuckled. After a few drinks, Sabrina had a flushed face and a dazed look in her eyes. She was evidently slightly inebriated.
"It's not her. She wouldn't hit anyone."
"Then you must've gotten into a fight," Simon said. But he was skeptical.
"They said you're undoubtedly the most well-mannered gentleman in high society. How could the most elegant, composed, and good-tempered gentleman get into a fight?"
Sabrina slowly turned to face them upon hearing this.
"Nelson's ill-tempered and petty. Mr. Nash, have you mistaken him for someone else?"
Simon burst out laughing.
Nelson glanced sideways at Sabrina as she innocently debunked him. He looked down and leaned closer toward her.
"I was exactly like that back in my 20s."
Sabrina rolled her eyes at him and turned to Simon.
"Mr. Nash, let me toast you again. It's been a real pleasure meeting you today."
It was a wonder that Sabrina could continue drinking despite being drunk.
Simon enjoyed the night as well. After chatting with Nelson for a while more, he prepared to leave.
Sabrina hurriedly stood up and gave him a deep bow.
"Mr. Nash, thank you so much."
She even wanted to see him out, but Nelson kept her in the private room.
When they reached downstairs, Simon looked at Nelson.
"The person in your heart resembled light. But this one shines brightly too, doesn't she?"
Simon hadn't insisted on meeting Sabrina that day. He merely mentioned it in passing. However, Nelson eagerly agreed, saying he could see her.
Simon observed Nelson's affectionate gaze at Sabrina that day. Having been through similar situations, Simon understood Nelson's feelings.
"People can inevitably develop feelings. It's all about the decision you make."
"I know. I'll visit you in a year," Nelson replied.
After Simon's car had driven off, Nelson returned to the private room.
Sabrina propped her chin on her hand as she poured herself a cup of tea. She saw Nelson return but ignored him and drank one cup after another.
Nelson sat beside her and waited silently.
She was lazy and relaxed in a drunken state, much like how she was at Wyatt Manor.
She was still well-behaved while intoxicated. After having enough water, she slumped over the table. She was ready to doze off like a sleepy cat.
Nelson reached out to touch her head.
"Shall we go home?"
She remained motionless for a while before turning to face him.
"We don't live in the same house anymore."
"Who says?" he asked softly while caressing her head.
"Me."
Nelson lifted her as he got up.
"What you say doesn't count."
While being in his arms, Sabrina looked at him in confusion. After that, she hummed obediently, leaned against his shoulder, and closed her eyes.
Nelson stared at her innocent expression in bewilderment for a long while. Then, he grabbed her phone and handbag and put on her coat for her. While wearing his coat, he saw her stagger toward the door.
He sighed and pulled her back. As she stumbled into his embrace, she giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Hubby, you saved me."
