The Dinner
The Dinner
GRANT arranges a private dinner for Helios and the rest. It was Helios’s request, and he agreed with his cousin’s plan. After a few minutes of waiting, one by one came to the reception. Cindy, whose voice was as loud as always, echoed in the hall. Grant heaved a sigh and shook his head. “Hey, Cal, say to your girlfriend to stop yelling. We’re just near,” Grant said as he walked towards Calyx, who had just come in. Calyx looked at Grant with a knitted forehead. “Why don’t you tell her?” Grant's brows furrowed. “Are you kidding me?” he asked. Calyx let out a soft chuckle and tapped Grant’s shoulder. After that, he walked toward the table and pulled a chair. Cindy, who was just near Grant, suddenly pinched Grant’s ear and twisted it, making Grant whimper. “What the hell?!” “Enough with that!” Helios uttered, anger lingering in his voice. He pierced his gaze towards Grant, making Grant raise his hand in surrender. Cindy rolled her eyes and sat beside Calyx. “Sit beside Zoe—” “You’re not my mother for me to obey—” “You don’t have a mother,” Calyx interrupted, making Cindy feel a tint of pain in her heart. However, she manages to hide that sadness. “I do have. And they were two. And don’t you dare talk to me,” she uttered coldly. Calyx frowned but didn’t bother Cindy anymore. Helios shook his head while watching the others. He looked at Zoe, who was sitting on his left. “Are you alright?” Zoe met his gaze and smiled. “Yeah, it’s just like we’re watching a fight between kids,” she said and let out a chuckle. Helios nodded. “Indeed. Anyway…” he turned to Grant, “let’s eat first before we talk about things,” he added. Grant then nodded and called the waiters. They then waited for a few minutes before their food was served. Helios served Zoe with care. He kept on asking her what she wanted and was the one who put food on her plate. The others are watching them. Grant, who had known Helios since birth, couldn’t help but feel amusement while watching them. Cindy was feeling thrilled for her bestie too. While Calyx… well, he’s just there, unbothered. Cindy shook her head. When it comes to s*x, Calyx acted livelily. Silence filled in for a while, and when they were all done, Grant started the conversation. “So… let’s start?” Helios nodded. Grant hemmed to clear his throat. “Just so you know, people—” “Get directly to the point, dude,” Cindy cut off the hum of Grant’s words. Grant’s forehead creased, and he sighed. “Helios needs our help and cooperation for their escape,” he stated. “And?” Cindy asked a mock visible in her voice. She crossed her arms in front of her chest. “Cindy…” Zoe called her attention. When their eyes met, Zoe arched her brow and pierced her gaze on Cindy as if she was sending a message that Cindy would understand. Cindy shrugged her shoulders and grinned. “Go on,” she uttered. Grant then started and explained the plans. It was simple. They need to be extra careful and refrain from giving information about Helios and Zoe’s whereabouts. They all understand it. However, Grant seems not to mention a missing piece. But, of course, the girls couldn’t understand it. Well, Zoe knew some, but Cindy, they are not sure. “I will not give the exact details of our departure, but we’re living as early as possible,” It was Helios. He looked at Zoe and nodded. “Why? How can I—”
“Stop it, Cindy. Don’t be stubborn,” Calyx asserted, making Cindy glare at the man. “This is unfair. Zoe is my best friend, and I want to—” she paused when Zoe spoke. “Cindy…” Zoe smiled, “—I promise I will be okay, and I will call you from time to time,” she added. Cindy pouted her lips. “But our time zone is different.” Zoe let out a soft chuckle. “That doesn’t matter, girl. We can set a time for facetime—” “You don’t have a phone,” Cindy interrupted, making Zoe frown at her, and Grant let out a chuckle. “I will buy it later,” Helios said. “Okay. All goods then. But I don’t know how dangerous your father is, Helios, but I bet, maybe sooner, he will understand you and accept my best friend and my future niece.” Calyx frowned. “How do you know that it will be a girl?” he asked out of the blue. Cindy looked at him. “It’s just a strong hunch,” she replied and rolled her eyes as she sipped into her wine. Zoe shook her head. She knows that the two will start a kiddie fight once again, and later on, Grant will join them.
