The Cherished Wife

Chapter 544

As for Winter, Jane really did not have the time or inclination to deal with her anymore; she just hoped Winter would stay out of trouble.

The next day, Winter directly paid off the young assistant and sent her away, leaving Suzy as Winter's sole assistant.

"Suzy, isn't it a bit beneath you to be my assistant?" Winter asked, knowing full well that Suzy came from a wealthy family and did not need to be working as her assistant.

Even so, Winter thrived on the feeling of superiority. Having Suzy, who was on the same level as her, working for her fueled her vanity.

Suzy squinted slightly, inwardly sneering but outwardly maintaining her smile. "Not at all. Ever since I started working with you, I've found peace of mind. I just want to focus on my job now and try not to think about anything else."

Suzy handed Winter a towel. "Wipe your sweat first. You'll need to get your makeup done soon, and while you're getting your makeup done, we can run lines together. That way, you'll be ready when it's time to act opposite your scene partner."

Suzy arranged everything meticulously for Winter, and Winter felt that her work had been going much smoother since Suzy joined her.

...

In a flash, three months passed with Winter on set, and the show wrapped up right on schedule.

Meanwhile, in Brookville, the West City project was gradually moving up the agenda. However, just as things were picking up momentum, a problem

arose.

Frotconn, which had been preparing for so long, was suddenly cut out of the deal by Collosus Group. This caught them completely off guard. Frotconn had been certain they would secure the project. Even if they did not get the entire contract, they had expected at least a share from Collosus Group.

However, just days ago, news leaked from within Collosus Group that Charles had ultimately chosen to collaborate with Lennon Group and an international team, rejecting all proposals submitted by other companies.

In Frotconn's executive meeting, the atmosphere was particularly tense.

Led by Hugh Lambert, several board members were visibly displeased, especially Hugh. He was increasingly dissatisfied with Joseph's and Xavier's recent actions.

"What on earth is going on? Mr.

Joseph and Mr. Xavier, you owe us

an explanation! Three months ago Mr. Xavier confidently assured

that the Collosus Group project was

in the bag!" Hugh was

swnow

Xavier's expression was equally grim. He had just returned from out of town a few days prior and had been swamped with end-of-year audits and project consolidations.

With so many responsibilities piling

up at the end of the year, Xavier had little time to focus on this project. He had assumed it was already sure thing. The sudden turn of events left him caught off guard.

Seeing Xavier remain silent, Hugh pressed further, refusing to let the matter go. "It seems that you haven't taken this major project seriously at all! Take a look at this!"

Hugh motioned for his secretary to distribute newspapers to everyone present. "This was just from a few days ago, showing where Mr. Xavier has been. It even made it to the entertainment tabloids." Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Everyone picked up the papers, and sure enough, there was Xavier, along with Winter.

"Isn't Mr. Xavier's wife supposed to be in Ivory Heights filming a show? What's this? Did Mr. Xavier take a trip to Ivory Heights too?"

"What's going on here?" Joseph's expression darkened as he took the newspaper from his secretary. When he saw the news printed on it, his expression grew even more severe.

"Xavier, care to explain? What's going on here? You neglected the company to run off to Ivory Heights?"

"Dad, I—"

"We're not father and son in the company. Address me as Mr. Joseph!"
