Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Ava listened to Leo's words and her face with heavy makeup turned gloomy. She hung up the phone
angrily and then she called Leo.
By doing this, Leo was clearly slapping her in the face.
Was he still obsessed with that bitch, Meredith? What's so good about her that made him unable to
forget about her?
Leo was knocking on the door when his cell phone suddenly rang. When he saw that it was Ava calling,
he immediately calmed down and the fire of his anger was extinguished.
"Brother Leo, where are you now? Was it true that my sister called me just now and said you were at
the door of her ward?"
Ava suppressed her anger. Even though she was extremely angry now, she still maintained a gentle
and generous demeanor. She also knew that only in this way would men not get tired of her. And by
acting like this, she could even make Leo feel more guilty about her.
Leo walked away awkwardly. "Don't listen to her nonsense. I just saw that she was tangling up with an
unidentified man and I just wanted to know what was going on."
Ava naturally understood that he was lying, but she didn't expose it. Instead, she replied worriedly,
"Brother Leo, I heard that sister seems to be doing something shameful right now, such as... Being
someone else's lover. It's normal for you to worry."
When Leo heard this, he suddenly understood how things were going on and he looked back with
hatred.
No wonder this damned woman, Meredith, was in the VIP ward. No wonder she looked much better
than she did when she was just released from prison. It turned out that she was an underground lover
who could not be seen.
"I didn't expect her to be so shameless." The more Leo thought about it, the angrier he got. She was
just a mistress. She would be thrown away as the goods when others were tired of playing with her.
How could she be a bully under the protection of a powerful person and become so arrogant?
"My sister's life is not easy. Maybe it's out of helplessness?" Pretending to be kind, she actually gave
Meredith another hard kick, but Ava was still worried. "Brother Leo, I'm going to see grandpa tonight
and tell him that we're getting married soon. He must be very happy when he hears the news."
Leo agreed absent-mindedly. Although he was talking to Ava, his thoughts somehow drifted to
Meredith.
He thought about the way she stood up to him today. He remembered that her eyes were cold and she
looked so beautiful that no one dared to belittle her. Leo had never thought Meredith was beautiful
before, but at that moment, he was really amazed by We Mer.
In particular, Leo could not help but fantasize at the thought of what it would be like to have sex with
such a stubborn woman.
If he had discovered her beauty earlier, he shouldn't have developed their relationship slowly. The
thought of Meredith being possessed by another man made Leo very upset and restless.
...
Inside the ward
After Leo left, the environment outside became silent and Meredith breathed a sigh of relief.
Derek looked at the woman in front of him through the dim light of the flashlight. His face was dark and
indistinguishable.
"Are you afraid of making him angry?"
Just now, if Meredith hadn't dragged him in, Derek would have taught Leo a lesson.
So, she was afraid that he would hurt that man, her so-called fiancé?
Meredith glanced at Derek and instinctively felt that the man seemed to be angry.
"It's the blackout now. He can't see who you are. It would be very troublesome if the electrical
equipment was fixed and he saw who you were later."
Meredith explained seriously that Leo was an arrogant and haughty man. He was likely to add highly-
colored details to their relationship and spread it to the outside world.
Meredith didn't want to cause any trouble. Besides, wasn't it fun to watch Leo and Ava bite each other?
"Are you and he really an unmarried couple?" Derek accepted Meredith's explanation and couldn't help
but ask.
"He used to be, but now he's Ava's fiancé, and we have nothing to do with each other now."
Derek pondered for a moment. He remembered that the Howards had announced the engagement in a
high-profile manner, and the woman who was engaged had always been Ava. If it hadn't been for what
he heard today, he wouldn't have believed that Meredith was once Leo's fiancée. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
So, it was the younger sister who replaced the elder sister after the elder sister was sent to prison?
Derek's view of Ava became more subtle.
There were so many men in the world, but she wanted to marry her ex-brother-in-law... It was too
unbelievable to call it a coincidence.
However, Derek did not see any sadness or other emotions on Meredith's face. This made his upset
mood become a little better.
However, it was better to drive away such annoying flies as Leo...
As he thought about it, the man suddenly realized that the light in the room had not been restored yet.
He couldn't help but frown. "What happened? A power outage?"
The hospital, which was also owned by the Xavier Group, was one of the most expensive aristocratic
hospitals in J City. As the boss, Derek felt that it was unacceptable since the hospital hadn't fixed
problems caused by such a low-level accident for so long.
"Maybe. Someone should fix it. Why don't I go out and take a look..." Meredith was getting used to the
darkness, but she was afraid that Derek would be impatient, so she decided to go out and look for
someone to fix it.
Just as she was about to leave, the flashlight that had been turned on suddenly flashed twice. It was as
if it had run out of electricity. In an instant, Meredith fell into the darkness and did not see the coffee
table in front of her. She bumped into it and lost her balance suddenly.
Meredith screamed and subconsciously tried to grab something. Derek had sharp eyes and agile
hands and he quickly pulled the woman back and pulled her into his arms.
Meredith paused for a moment until a steady and powerful heartbeat came from the man's chest which
she was pressed against to her ear. Only then did she act like waking up from a dream and she quickly
wanted to take two steps back.
She really didn't mean it. Derek didn't think she was trying to seduce him, did he?
"Don't move!"
Seeing that Meredith still wanted to move, Derek let out a low cry. Not far from her was the coffee table.
The corners of the glass were sharp. The aftermath could be serious if she fell and bumped into
something.
"No, I..." Meredith was a little flustered. She could even feel her heart beating so hard on her left chest
that she could barely breathe.
Just as Meredith was about to ask Derek to let her go, the lights in the room suddenly flickered twice. It
seemed that the electricity had been restored.
Only then did Meredith heave a sigh of relief. She looked at the coffee table that nearly tripped her not
far away and felt the fear.
Just now, if Derek hadn't reacted quickly, she would have pounced on that. If she had hit her head, she
would suffer a lot.
"Thank you." Meredith said, blushing even more. It was dark just now, and she could not see their
current gesture clearly. She could only feel the man's body temperature and smell surrounding her.
Now that there was light, she realized how ambiguous their gesture was. Meredith immediately wanted
to push Derek away, but as soon as she did that, a tugging pain came from her scalp.
