Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Meredith glanced at the man who was driving and then quickly turned her gaze away.
After thinking for a while, she looked out the window. It was pitch dark in the evening. However, it was
useless to think about this kind of thing. Could Derek listen to what she said?
The man was tyrannical and domineering. Perhaps the only thing she could do was to make him show
mercy and not send her to prison again.
While driving, Derek glanced at Meredith who was looking at the darkness out of the window. It was
already late at night and she could barely see anything outside, but she still concentrated her attention
on the darkness outside as if she was falling into it.
It seemed that she was trying to draw a demarcation line with him, which made Derek feel that he was
resisted by her.
Did she resist his approach? Was it for that damned Parker?
"What were you doing when I called you?"
Derek was obviously very concerned about this.
If he didn't figure it out, he would think that man and she had done something in that apartment.
"Does it matter to you what I was doing at that time?" Meredith frowned slightly. Derek's question made
her feel offended.
Did he think she was seducing Parker again? Was she so deplorable from his opinion?
"And even if I had done something, it shouldn't have anything to do with you, right?" Meredith put on a
cold face and said that calmly.
They were going to get a divorce. Why did he still ask her this kind of question?
"Meredith, don't forget that we're still husband and wife with a marriage certificate. Answer my
question."
Derek looked at Meredith's cold and gloomy face. He stepped on the brake and the car stopped
abruptly.
The sudden inertia made her body lean forward. If it wasn't for the safety belt, she was sure that she
would hit the windshield in front of her.
The man was examining her, which made Meredith's suppressed anger uncontrollable.
They were not real husband and wife. Why could Derek interrogate her like a prisoner? She called him,
but no one answered. Would she be so bored to ask him about that?
"If I tell you I just wanted to wash away the disgusting smell of those people left on me after arriving at
a safe place, do you believe it? You would think I'm lying. Anyway, I am such a dissolute woman in your
heart. Since you don't believe it, why do you ask me?"
Derek looked into Meredith's eyes, which rarely flashed with anger and even a glimmer of water.
The man suddenly thought of the videos taken by passers-by. Even from the videos, he could know
how desperate Meredith was then.
"What were you doing when I was being chased around? They almost shot me that kind of video and
ruined my life. But when I called you, no one answered. Did I ask where you were and what you were
doing at that time?"
Since she had oped her mouth, Meredith didn't care about anything. They were about to break up. She
was afraid of nothing.
However, Derek, who kept silent all the time, felt a little surprised when he heard her words, "Did you
call me?"
He suddenly remembered that Meredith seemed to have snatched someone's phone and made a call
in that video, but he thought she called Parker.
He didn't expect that the first man she thought of at stake was him.
Meredith did not want to admit that at all. It could only show how stupid she was. The first man she
thought of was him.
But Derek confirmed that she wasn't lying from her eyes. This made the man feel much more relaxed.
He rubbed his forehead, "This is a misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding?" Meredith sneered. "I didn't expect the president of Xavier Group to lie about such
a small matter."
"I just got out of the airport and my phone was stolen by a foreign thief, so I couldn't get anyone's call."
Meredith glanced at him. Obviously, she still didn't believe him.
Derek had no choice but to take out his new phone and put it in front of Meredith, "You should have
seen what the phone I used before looks like. I wouldn't have played such a boring trick just to fool
you."
Meredith looked at it. It was true. That was a completely different phone from the one Derek used
before.
So, it was not that he didn't want to answer her phone at that time, but because he lost his phone and Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
couldn't get it?
The resentment in Meredith's heart dissipated a little. She sat down quietly and stopped talking.
Derek started the car again. After a while, he said slowly, "I believe what you just said."
Meredith looked at him in disbelief. From the moment she met Derek, he had been doubting and
despising her. Today, his attitude suddenly changed so much, and she was not used to it.
Derek didn't explain anything more. Meredith's eyes showed the overwhelming power that made him
believe what she said just now.
Both of them kept silent. The tense atmosphere just now was lightened.
After sitting in the car for a long while, Meredith was a little tired. The sleepiness gradually came to her.
Her small head had no place to rely on and could just sway from left to right.
Derek took a look at her, slowed down the car, and turned up the temperature of the air conditioner.
It was already the next day morning when Meredith woke up again. She opened her eyes and looked at
the familiar furnishings in front of her. She didn't feel anything at first, but then she reflected that she
was at Xavier's.
She seemed to have fallen asleep in the car yesterday. Did Derek bring her back?
How did she sleep on both ears? She didn't feel anything at all and didn't know how that man got her
back.
Thinking about it, Meredith moved her body and accidentally kicked a warm leg. She was shocked and
found herself lying on the bed...
Although she and Derek slept in the same room, it had always been that one person slept on the bed
and the other on the floor without interfering with each other. But now...
Meredith moved gently and sat up slowly. Then she saw Derek lying on the other side. The man
seemed to be very tired. He had no reaction even if she moved beside him. He just frowned slightly
and didn't wake up.
Meredith stood up slowly, not daring to wake him up. Just as she was about to leave the room, the
phone in her hand suddenly rang. The bell sounded harsh in the quiet room.
Meredith was startled. Derek was woken up by the sound and opened his eyes. The deep dark eyes
became clear in an instant, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing...Nothing..." At thought of the fact that they had slept together last night, she was still a little
unable to look at Derek in the eye.
Although they had done nothing last night.
"Your phone is ringing."
Derek frowned and saw the cell phone ringing in her hand, "Who is it?"
Only then did Meredith realize that it was Parker. Her heart was immediately filled with guilt. Last night,
she didn't tell him that she would leave. He must be very worried.
"I'm going out to pick up..." Meredith avoided Derek's gaze. The man noticed that and raised his
eyebrows unhappily.
When Meredith was about to open the door and walk out, her arm was suddenly grasped by him.
Derek pressed her body against the door and approached her.
