I’m Not Weak
Chapter 52 I’m Not Weak
“You asshole! Then I ain’t telling you anything.” she said.
Ramos smiled, a cruel smile that sent a chill down Raven’s spine. “You’re playing a dangerous game,” he said. “If you don’t tell me what I want to know, you’ll regret it. I’ll make your life a living hell, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Raven’s heart was pounding in her chest. She knew she had to think of something quickly, or she and her father were in serious trouble. But what could she do? She was starting to feel like there was no way out of this mess.
“What about I take you to them myself?” Raven suggested.
“What kind of game are you playing at Raven?” Ramos asked.
“If you let me and my father go, I will do anything you say. I’ll work for you and even be a spy for you to help you destroy the Sanchez brothers but i need you to let my father go.
I’ll do anything you want and I mean anything.” Raven said.
“Anything you mean?” Ramos asked, for clarification.
“Yes, anything.” Raven answered.
“Then, take that gun from that man over there and point it at Carlos and pull the trigger.” Ramos said.
Raven’s heart stopped. There was no way she could do that. She couldn’t kill someone, even to save her own life and her father’s. It just wasn’t in her. She couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“I can’t,” she said. “I can’t kill someone.”
Ramos’s smile disappeared. “You think you can negotiate with me, Raven? That’s not how this works. I make the rules, and you follow them. If you don’t, you’ll regret it. You’re going to have to do what I say, and that includes killing Carlos.”
“If you kill him, then I will believe you and then I’ll let your father go.” Ramos said.
“No,” Raven said, her voice firm. “I can’t do that. I can’t take a life. It’s against everything I believe in. I can’t do it, no matter what you threaten me with.”
Ramos’s eyes flashed with anger. “You think you’re so high and mighty, don’t you? You think you’re better than me, because you have some kind of moral code. Well, I’m telling you now, it’s all a farce. You’re just as capable of darkness as I am.
“No, I’m not like you. I’m not capable of darkness and I won’t become like you. You are greedy. A man who only concerns himself with money and power. You don’t care about anyone but yourself.” Raven said.
“And you do?” Ramos asked, his voice dangerously calm. “You think you’re so much better than me, but I’ve seen the darkness inside you. You have the capacity for it, just like everyone else. You’re just in denial. Face the truth, Raven – you’re no different from me.”
“I am different!” Raven said, her voice rising. “I’m not like you. I’m not interested in money or power. I’m interested in protecting people, in making sure that everyone has the chance to live a good life. That’s what I’m fighting for.
“You really are a fool, Raven. If you really want to save the people you care about from me, then rise in power and make me pay for what I did to your father and to you.” Ramos said.
“But you don’t have the power do you? You are just an over confident young woman who thinks that she can say anything or do anything and get away with it.”
Ramos picks the gun from the man and shoots Carlos dead.
Raven’s heart stopped. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She was frozen in place, unable to move or think or speak. This couldn’t be real. It had to be a nightmare.
“You didn’t really think I was going to let him go, did you?” Ramos asked, laughing. “You really are a fool. I told you that you had to pay if you wanted to save him, and now you’ve paid the price.”
Ramos turned to her and smiled. “I guess that makes you next.”
“You can’t,” Raven whispered.
“But I can,” Ramos said, his voice cold. “And I will. You see, Raven, I’m not afraid of doing what needs to be done. I don’t let my emotions get in the way of my goals. I’m a realist, and I understand that sometimes sacrifices have to be made in order to achieve something greater. You’re weak, and that’s why you’ll never succeed.”
“No,” Raven said, her voice shaking. “I’m not weak. I’m not going to let you win.”
“Oh, but you already have,” Ramos said……
