Passion 53
Meanwhile, in the CEO's office on the top floor of Titan
Corporation's headquarters, Xavier had already received word from his bodyguard that Yvette had gone to Plate & Palette that morning.
"What was she doing at Plate & Palette?" As far as he knew, Plate & Palette was a place where spoiled rich kids indulged in debauchery, a place that was quite dirty.
His bodyguard hesitated for a moment before responding, "It seemed like she had attended a blind date." Xavier's eyes narrowed, and the atmosphere around him grew tense.
So, when she had said that she had something to do, she had meant going on a blind date? Once again, Yvette had surprised him.
Xavier's expression darkened in an instant. The bodyguard knew Xavier's temper all too well and cautiously left the office.
There was a knock on the door to his office at 2:00 pm.
"Mr. Lane." As soon as she walked in, Yvette could tell something was off about Xavier. He lifted his gaze and looked at her apathetically. His eyes were cold, as if he could see right through her. "Are you finished with your business?" he asked lowly, hinting at something more.
Yvette didn't get it. "Yeah. Didn't you say you wanted to take me somewhere?"
Instead of responding, he rose to his feet and walked up to her." What did you do this morning?" he asked, looking at her straight in the eye.
The fact that he had popped this question meant that he already
knew. Yvette met his scrutinizing gaze and answered truthfully, "I went on a blind date."
Enraged, he laughed at her audacity. He couldn't believe that she could say such things so openly. Suppressing his boiling anger, he questioned, "What? Are you that lonely? Having two men isn't enough for you?"
Her? Lonely and having two men? Yvette flipped. What did he take her for?
She smiled sarcastically and said, word for word, "I believe you've gotten the wrong idea, Mr. Lane. I'm single. Why can't I go on a blind date?"Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
"You're single?" Xavier couldn't contain his simmering anger any Honger. With a hardened expression, he grabbed her arm and
dragged her outside. "I'll make you remember whether you're single or not."
He dragged her into the car. His grip was so strong that her arm felt numb and hurt painfully the moment he let go. With a loud bang, the car door slammed shut.
As the car sped down the main road, Yvette couldn't help but feel scared. She had no idea where Xavier was taking her, but she gradually realized something was amiss. Even though she had been away for four years, she recognized this route. If they kept going down this road, they'd eventually reach the former Snyder Group's office building. Yvette felt a little nervous. She clenched her hands, and her fingertips dug into her palms.
Xavier noticed her expression, and a cruel smile played at the
corners of his lips. "Didn't you say you had amnesia? That you don't remember a lot of people or things?

"Then, do you still remember this place?" His gaze landed on a spot in the distance. It had previously been home to Snyder Group. But now, when Yvette looked over, all she saw was desolation. The once-tall Snyder Group building had been demolished. Her pupils narrowed into slits, and her fists were clenched so tightly that her fingertips had drawn blood from her palms.
During her years abroad, Claude and Violda had kept her in the dark about what had been happening back in Tirion.
She hadn't learned that Xavier had acquired Snyder Group until she had gotten back there. Yet, she had never expected him to raze it to the ground.
Yvette felt a lump in her throat, preventing her from speaking.
Xavier stopped the car. After seeing her distraught expression, he became even more convinced that she was faking her amnesia. A mirthless smile played on his lips, and he appeared almost deranged.
"It seems like you don't remember after all. Let me enlighten your then; this place used to house Snyder Group's office building, the result of your grandfather's and father's lifetime of hard work." He paused before continuing, "But I've leveled it to the ground now."
