Chapter 67: Savior
Chapter 67: Savior
The ambience in the bedroom instantly tensed up. Maxwell’s gripped the specialist and stared at him
with his unfathomable and sharp eyes as if he wished to see through the specialist.
The specialist shivered, but he still toughed it out, “I was mentioning the one who has meager
knowledge about medicine but was smattering just now.”
“Let go of him! Did he say the wrong thing? Do you have a medical practitioner’s qualification
certificate?” Another doctor who was standing aside chimed in. He was the best specialist in
cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Ocean City and was also invited to here to have this
experts’ meeting with an aim to find a way to prolong the patient’s life-span.
“Qualification certificate?” Maxwell was stunned for a while and then shook his head, “I don’t have it.”
“Then which medical school did you graduate from?” The doctor fixed his eyes on Maxwell and asked
aggressively.
“I didn’t graduate from a medical school.” Maxwell replied blandly.
“Who do you think you are since you don’t have a medical practitioner’s qualification certificate and
didn’t graduate from a medical school?” The doctor reprimanded in a stern voice, “Are you a barefoot
doctor?”
[Note: Barefoot doctors were healthcare providers who underwent basic medical training and worked in
rural villages in China.]
“Turns out he’s just a barefoot doctor. I thought he’s a master… That makes sense. He looks so young,
how can it be possible that he’s proficient in medicine…”
All of a sudden, everyone in the bedroom glanced at Maxwell with some different emotions in their
gazes – there were some more traces of contempt and sarcasm. The way they looked at Maxwell was
like they were looking at a charlatan.
“Mr. Absalom, we came all the way to treat the patient, not to handle with a hypocritical charlatan. Even
if I didn’t cure the patient’s disease, how can you use this kind of person to humiliate me?” The doctor
who was grabbed by Maxwell pushed his hand away and rebuked in a stern voice.
“Although I’m not as outstanding as the first-class experts overseas, I’m not someone who can be
bullied by others at will. If you don’t accept our medical diagnosis, we can just leave.” Another doctor
looked at Maxwell coldly.
“Please don’t leave. Mr. Absalom was just so anxious that he resorted to every possible means and
found the wrong person…” The middle-aged man who was in suit was clutched by anxiety and smiled
fawningly. He then turned around and ordered Maxwell coldly, “Hurry to get out. Without my or Mr.
Absalom’s order, you’re not allowed to step into this bedroom!”
“Are you sure?” Maxwell glanced at the middle-aged man meaningfully.
“Of course! Hurry up to get lost!” The crowd in the bedroom quieted down. The gazes falling on
Maxwell and Greta were quite scornful after the middle-aged man in suit finally couldn’t bear it any
longer and began to drive them out.
The bedroom was prevailed by silence. Andreas, who was standing at a corner, gradually curled his
lips into a cold smile when he saw this scene.
“Yo, your trick is exposed. Now you continue to stay here and refuse to leave? ‘Follow the man you
marry, be he fowl or cur’, you’re really a good practitioner of this old saying. You and your husband are
really cheeky.” Allison sneered with sarcasm and humiliated them verbally.
“Someone said he knew about medicine, didn’t he? He had never studied in a medical school and had
just studied from a quack doctor for several days, yet he had the guts to swindle others. How
hypocritical!” Cecilia glanced at Maxwell and Greta and taunted.
Greta was rooted on the floor. She finally couldn’t bear to hear Allison and Cecilia’s blatant and
targeted taunts and suddenly stood to her feet, turned around, held Maxwell’s hand and walked out of
the bedroom.
“It’s all your fault. If it’s not because you wanted to show off yourself, will we be the laughing stock of
those people there?” They went to the corridor and Greta shot a fierce glare at Maxwell.
Maxwell smiled embarrassedly and then asked meaningfully, “Ms. Greta, are you coming back?”
“Of course. Should I stay here and wait for them to taunt at me?” Greta asked coldly.
Just as Maxwell and Greta walked out of the ultra-large luxurious villa, they saw a car galloping in their
direction from afar and then slowly stopping by the roadside.
The car door was opened and a thin-haired old man got off the car. He was in a white suit specially
used when practicing Kungfu and it looked like he came here right after finishing practicing boxing.
The old man noticed Maxwell as soon as he got off the car. He narrowed his eyes, took two
consecutive steps forward towards Maxwell, and asked with uncertainty, “Lad, why do I feel so familiar
with you…”
Maxwell paused and curled his lips into a light smile, “You forget me?”
The old man slapped his own head and laughed, “Oh, it’s you.”
“You two… met before?” Greta was slightly stunned.
“Of course. As I went to the wet market nearby every morning, I often saw him practicing Kungfu when
I passed a park and would stop to have a chat with him.” Maxwell smiled, “Greta, you come back to the
car first. I want to have a short talk with him. I’ll go find you soon.”
Greta glanced over Maxwell and the old man. She then nodded and walked elegantly towards the
Maybach which was parked far away.
“Hey, why are you here?” Maxwell asked.
The old man produced a sheet of prescription from his pocket and replied, “One of my patients is
suffering from an incurable disease. After having a diagnosis of him last time, I have been studied this
at home. I found this prescription recently. So now I want to test its effect.”
Maxwell slightly curled his lips as he glanced over the prescription, “This prescription will not be
helpful.”
The old man smiled, “You know nothing. This prescription is left by my father. Do you know who my
father is?”
“Who?” Maxwell fixed his eyes on the old man with great interest.
The old man’s kindly face flickered across a trace of pride, “When my father was alive, he was called
‘magical doctor in Ocean City’ by the public.” All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
Maxwell looked at the old man with interest, “Magical doctor in Ocean City?”
“Yep. My father once studied from a prestigious teacher and was proficient in medicine. It was as if he
could bring the dying back to life and he had cured numerous difficult miscellaneous diseases…
Nevertheless, three years ago, he passed away.” The old man slowly narrated, “Three years ago when
he was dying, he told me about the only regret in his life - he once met a patient who was suffering
from an incurable disease and that was the first time that he had failed to cure a disease. So he left this
sheet of prescription…”
The man looked upset, “I heard that it was not my father who created this prescription. He just wrote
down it under the guidance of a master.”
“I’ve never imagined that the world is full of wonders. Now this patient is suffering from the same
incurable disease.” The old man spoke slowly, “This may be my fate. Naturally I must save him at any
cost! This is the mission of a doctor.”
“You were practicing boxing in the park every day. But I haven’t expected that you’re from a doctors’
family.” Maxwell chuckled and teased.
“It’s all about the past. No need to mention it.” The old man waved his hand and walked towards the
luxurious villa.
A sound suddenly rumbled from behind the old man. It was Maxwell who stopped him, “This
prescription lacks of a kind of herbal medicine. Without this herbal medicine, this sheet of prescription
is nothing more than a waste paper.”
The old man paused and turned around to look at Maxwell, while the later still looked calm, as if he was
talking about an ordinary thing.
Maxwell walked over the old man and whispered several sentences. The old man was shocked as if he
had been struck by lightning and was rooted on the spot.
Maxwell’s words gave him a light bulb moment and he was suddenly enlightened. He looked at
Maxwell gratefully and excitedly with traces of shock and respect in his eyes.
When the old man finally pulled himself back to reality, Maxwell had left and was nowhere to be found.
The old man turned around, shivered all over and ran towards the villa excitedly.
Maxwell walked towards the Maybach which was parked by the roadside, pulled open the door and
then boarded on the car.
The engine started up with a roar and the car headed towards afar in a high speed…
“What’s your relationship with that old man?” Greta, who was sitting at the rear seat, asked a probing
question while staring at Maxwell’s reflection in the rearview mirror.
“We are just good friends who often have talks in the park.” Maxwell smiled awkwardly. Seeing that a
trace of doubt flashed across Greta’s beautiful eyes, Maxwell hastily patted his chest and promised.
…
In the luxurious villa, a servant carefully fed a bowl of herbal medicine soup to Lennon who was lying
on the bed. The people in the bedroom all held their breaths. Especially Absalom, who was looking at
Lennon seriously, uncontrollably had a flicker of hope in his eyes.
Lennon suddenly trembled all over and opened his eyes while spitting out a mouthful of black blood!
“We succeed.” The old man was quite excited and shivered all over!
Lennon was spared from the death after spitting out this mouthful of black blood.
Lennon struggled to prop himself up from the bed with both hands and sat up slowly.
“Dad.” The middle-aged man in suit shed tears of joy. Lennon actually became better than he was
before!
“Lennon, you really scared me to death.” Absalom heaved a sigh of relief while looking at Lennon who
looked weak with a pale face and smiled helplessly.
“Thank you. I, Michael Bole, will never forget your great kindness.” The middle-aged man turned
around and kneeled down in front of the old man without hesitation.
“Oh, don’t kneel down, I don’t deserve it.” The old man hastily waved his hands.
“You’ve saved Lennon, so you deserve it.” Absalom said.
“Get up first. It’s a long story. The actual savior is someone else.” The old man explained slowly.
“Someone else? But it was you who served us the medicine soup, Mister. Since it was not you, who
would be the one who actually saved my father?” Michael was stunned.
“The prescription is passed down by my father. But there’s a deadly defeat in it. Without his help, this
prescription wouldn’t work and your father might not be able to be saved.” The old man explained
slowly, “So, he was the one who had helped a lot, and I was just the one who diagnosed the patient.”
Lennon’s voice was still husky which showed that he was still weak, but it sounded better than before,
“Thank you for saving my life. I, Lennon Bole, will never forget your kindness… Nevertheless, can you
tell me whereabouts of the one that you mentioned…”
“Please tell us his whereabouts.” Absalom nodded and wore an extremely respectful look.
“He just walked out of here.” The old man suddenly remembered something, “Oh, there was a woman
by his side. It was Ms. Greta.”
The bedroom was overwhelmed by silence again and their gazes showed that they were so shocked.
Andreas’ expressions changed dramatically and disbelief was written all over his face.
