When fate plays its hand

However, in the next second, another hand stopped Sam’s hand in midair. Het frowned when he saw who it was. “It’s you?” he said in an unkind tone.

“Dr. Jefferson, why-” Miranda mumbled. At that moment, she got choked up.

Paul’s gaze fell on her face. “Are you alright?”

Miranda nodded. “Yes,” she said, sniffling.

It was far from the truth.

“My car happens to be here, so I can take you home,” Paul said.

“Okay, thanks.”

Paul wrapped an arm around her shoulder and prepared to leave.

Miranda felt like a small rock on the edge of a cliff that was on the brink of falling. The moment Paul appeared, she finally felt at ease.

“Dr. Jefferson, why are you here?”

Next to the manor was a high–end hotel. He had come there for a conference. During the break, he had come out here for some fresh air when he unexpectedly witnessed

this incident.

“I happened to have something going on.”

“Wait!” Sam ran after him. “Paul, did you come to the wrong place? The conference is next door. This is my private manor.”

Paul stopped in his tracks, and Miranda followed suit.

Sam continued, “She is my guest, so I will send her home. Then, you won’t have to go through the trouble.”

Paul turned to give him an indifferent look. “Well, have you asked your guest what. she wants?”

“I’ll go with Dr. Jefferson,” Miranda immediately said.

“Mimi…” Sam trailed off.

“Let’s go,” Paul said.

Miranda nodded.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Hansel couldn’t bear to stand by and watch two men fight over Miranda. “Wait! Where do you want to go, Miranda?”

“Home”

“Hm…. You mean this man’s home, don’t you?” Hansel pointed at Paul with a cold smile. “What a skank. You can’t even live without a man. I bet you were already seducing other men behind my back even before we broke up. You really are. something, Miranda!

“You left me so decisively. So, it turned out that you had already found your next man. You didn’t even spare the man in my circle. You’re truly disgusting!”

Enraged, Hansel had lost his rationality. Now, he simply wanted to humiliate this ungrateful, loose woman in the most extreme way he knew!

Then, he turned to Sam and Paul. “Are the used goods I slept with that attractive? Is she worth you two fighting over her? Does she deserve it?”

Miranda shook uncontrollably from head to toe. Hansel’s words left deep, bloody cuts in her heart.

It turned out that after being pushed past the limits of pain, the only feeling left was

numbness.

She stared at Hansel’s twisted expression with reddened eyes, clenching her jaw harshly. She felt as though she had been submerged in ice water. At that moment, she seemed to have lost all her senses.

Paul frowned. He saw how Miranda’s delicate frame was trembling in the cold breeze, as though she could fall over with the slightest touch.

“I thought that at the very least, the past six years of our relationship was genuine. But now, I’ve come to realize that this is how you viewed me,” she said, her voice choking up.

She continued with a self–deprecating smile, “I guess I had made the wrong decision from the very beginning. That was why every subsequent step I took was wrong too. In the end, it became beyond saving…”

Looking at Miranda’s ashen face and the tears spilling from her red eyes, Hansel felt like he had just been struck in the head. He felt a lump form in his chest.

Chapte

He opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn’t say a word.

After a moment, he finally said hoarsely, “Why?”

He looked up at Sam angrily. Raising his voice, he roared, “I’m asking you why! You clearly know that Miranda is my woman, so why would you do that?”
