Chapter 788
It was Charles who forwarded Galen's information, and under the "Father" section, it boldly stated, "Farley, a university professor!"
"That's him!"
Although Gilbert had asked Charles to look into Galen, Charles had merely skimmed through Galen's professional resume and hadn't delved into the family secrets.
So, this Galen wasn't Sherilyn's boyfriend at all, but her brother!
Gilbert suddenly raised his hand to his forehead, his mind buzzing with chaos.
A few things started making sense... Sherilyn had broken up with him so decisively, he even thought she was heartless enough to disregard Jenna as well!
But that wasn't the case. It was because of Galen, wasn't it? Galen was Jenna's uncle, and his bone marrow, probably, was a match? Not one hundred percent, but pretty close.
At that moment, Gilbert felt a chill all over. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it, squinting as he exhaled smoke.
Ten years! He had known Sherilyn for over a decade! Their first meeting, what was it like? Gilbert's memory was hazy. Through the swirling smoke, he could barely remember Sherilyn back then, her hair long just like now. Calling out to him and his brother with a clear yet timid voice.
"Big brother, second brother."
No more! Never again!
"Ha, haha."
Gilbert leaned back, raising his hand to cover his eyes. Back then, he had no idea that one day, he'd regret not truly seeing her for all these years! Back then, his heart was set on repaying his brother and taking good care of Caroline.
Too late, much too late...
Gilbert drove out of the Sunset Ridge Community. On the road, he received a text from Caroline.
["When will you be back? I've made your favorite dish, waiting to have dinner together."]
Gilbert frowned, flipped his phone over without replying. He stepped on the gas, heading straight for the Platinum Pearl Club.
At Golden Oak Manor, Caroline held
her phone, staring at the screen. Two hours had passed, and the food on the table had gone cold. Gilbert hadn't returned, nor had he replied to her message.
Hmph.
Caroline curled her lips, pushed her wheelchair to the dining table. She picked up the utensils and began to eat.
Early the next morning, Sherilyn came downstairs. She immediately saw Gilbert's car and paused. Was he here early in the morning, or had he not left at all?
The car door opened, and Gilbert got out. Nodding at Sherilyn, he said, "Get in."
Then he added, "I know you're heading to the Southern District Sanatorium. Today's a workday, and my brother is busy. I'm here to take care of Rebecca White's matter for him."NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
That made sense. Rebecca White's
surgery date was set, and today, they needed to handle the
admission procedures. Sherilyn had already promised her she'd be there to accompany her.
"Get in," Gilbert said, opening the door and waiting for her.
"Okay," Sherilyn nodded, bending down to get into the car.
At the Southern District Sanatorium, the caregiver had everything ready, fearing that Rebecca White might feel uneasy with a change of personnel. Jane was also going to stay with her.
After picking everyone up, they rushed to the hospital. Sherilyn stayed with Rebecca White in the ward, settling her in while Gilbert took care of the rest.
Busy with the arrangements, Rebecca White felt embarrassed. "I'm sorry for the trouble, Mr. Gilbert."
"No need," Gilbert shook his head. "Just thank my brother."
Then, looking at Sherilyn, he said, "There's nothing else here, the caregiver's got it. I'll drive you back."
Fearing she might refuse, he added, "I have something to tell you."
"Just a few words, won't take much of your time."
