Wife by Day, Boss by Night

Chapter 200

Madelyn had just moved back into Majestic Meadows Manor, and compared to her, Brian would surely be around more often.

Davis had been planning this for a while. He even had Gracia and Brian’s compatibility checked by an astrologer. The best time for their wedding was early next year. It was high time they started getting closer.

“But what about the situation abroad…” Gracia’s voice trembled, and her eyes began to be in tears.

“Forget about that mess,” he reassured her with a dismissive wave. “I will shut those tabloids up. You’re a Howard, for heaven’s sake. Do you think you need to pay any mind to those second–rate directors? Once you and Brian announce your engagement, those rumors will crumble to dust! I will not let you suffer this indignity for nothing!”

Gracia was stunned, and then a wave of joy washed over her. She had waited so long! Davis was finally ready to move forward with her marriage to Brian! She never expected to turn her misfortune into such a blessing!

As long as Dayis believed in her, Gracia felt confident. And it was good that she had remained virtuous for Brian, never overstepping boundaries. If the rumors persisted, she could get a doctor’s certificate to prove her innocence, and what would there be to fear then?

“Thank you, Davis,” she said after a brief pause, rising from the couch with a pitiful grace.

“Why are you being so formal, child? We’re practically family. What’s there to thank me for?” Davis chuckled.

Gracia sighed and replied, “Thank you for believing in me. Otherwise, no amount of talking would clear my name.”

“Okay. Brian likes to hang out in the study. I’ve arranged for your guest room to be right next door. Head on up,” Davis hinted with a meaningful look.

Gracia’s eyes sparkled as she glanced upstairs toward the study.

In the study, Brian asked quietly, “Natalie’s back on set?”

Bagot nodded in confirmation. “Yes, I’ve taken her back.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Brian stared at Natalie’s passport on the desk, silent.

After a moment, Bagot ventured another question. “Should we continue with the process of changing Miss Natalie’s residency to Majestic Meadows Manor? We’ll need her signature to transfer the house into her name.”

Brian took a deep breath, then replied firmly, “Continue.”

“Very well,” Bagot nodded. “Should we reschedule the appointment at the city hall?”

“Push it back a week.”

Outside, Gracia was about to knock on the door when she heard Brian’s voice inside. Her hand froze mid–air.

Brain was planning to marry Natalie. Where had she gone wrong? In what way was she inferior to Natalie?

She had loved him at his most triumphant and during his lowest ebbs. Her affection for Brian was genuine!

Natalie had hurt her so badly, ruining her reputation and bright future. Yet, in Brian’s eyes, it was still only Natalie.

Standing at the doorway, Gracia remained silent for a long time before turning and quietly returning to the adjacent guest room. She knew confronting Brian would only backfire, so she must pretend ignorance.

Natalie marrying Brian was out of the question. Gracia would not allow it, especially not on the eve of her engagement to him. She had endured years of hardship and humiliation for Brian and wouldn’t let Natalie anywhere near him!

In the middle of the night, Natalie was jolted awake by the pain in her hand.
