Chapter 48 Getting Caught
Wasn’t this Elijah?
How could he appear here?!
Freya Stone felt like she was seeing things. She quickly pulled back her hand, closed the car window, and armed herself with sunglasses, a hat, and a mask. She believed that her escape plan was foolproof, and Elijah shouldn’t have discovered that she ran away.
Elijah appearing here definitely had nothing to do with her. Maybe he had other matters to attend to. Thinking this way, Freya’s heart wasn’t as tense. She huddled, her head buried in the steering wheel, praying in her heart that he hadn’t seen her.
Suddenly, her car window was knocked.
Freya acted like a quail, refusing to open the window no matter what. At this point, the cars in front also stopped moving. Freya was anxious and honked the horn a few times.
Elijah stood by the car, his gaze dark. Even at this time, was she still struggling inside the car?
He wanted to see how long Freya Stone could stay in the car.
He coldly said to his secretary, “Call a tow truck.”
Freya kept the car window closed, unable to hear the outside sounds clearly. She didn’t know what Elijah had said, and she could only see the cars behind moving, slowly reversing.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
After a while, space was cleared and a tow truck arrived.
Freya hadn’t figured out how a tow truck appeared, and her car was hooked from behind and towed away!
Seeing herself getting farther away from the queue, getting farther away from the toll booth and that man, she realized something.
Elijah stood there, his face dark and frightening.
Freya’s heart tightened, wondering how he could find out so quickly.
He didn’t have wings to fly, yet he could set an ambush before her.
No, if she was caught by Elijah and brought back, he would definitely not let her go. She tried stepping on the gas.
The tires spun, creating thick black smoke on the ground. The car showed no sign of moving forward but continued to be towed backward. Inside the car, she smelled the burnt rubber odor from the spinning tires. The smell was extremely unpleasant, and she almost threw up.
Elijah watched coldly, “Still struggling at the last moment? Go and deflate her tires.”
His secretary immediately walked over, instructing someone to use professional tools to deflate the four tires of Freya’s car.
How did this man find out about her? And why did he use such twisted methods, deflating the tires, resorting to such low tactics?
Was he even a man?!
Her car was lifted onto the tow truck. And she was brought back.
Freya looked at the scenery she had passed by, feeling disoriented inside the car.
…
She was ‘towed’ back.
The tow truck parked on the roadside outside the villa.
Elijah didn’t rush her to get out.
Wasn’t she supposed to run?
Then he let her stay in the car. He would like to see how she planned to run again.
“Have someone keep an eye on her,” Elijah’s eyes were icy, his anger not directed at his secretary but at Freya.
“Yes, sir.” The secretary replied.
The secretary efficiently dispatched people to surround the tow truck, making sure not even a fly could escape.
The oxygen inside the car decreased, and a thick layer of condensation formed on the windows. Freya Stone took off her mask and hat but still couldn’t catch her breath. She lowered the car window. Fresh air rushed in. She finally felt alive again.
Time passed bit by bit. Elijah didn’t come out to check on her. It seemed like he forgot about her. Inside the villa, the scent of Linda’s cooking wafted through the air, which made Freya hungry.
She could endure it, but her child couldn’t go hungry.
Finally, she surrendered. She could only say that Elijah was truly perceptive.
Freya got out of the car but the people guarding her didn’t allow her to leave.
“What are you going to do?” Freya asked.
“We are responsible for keeping an eye on you. If you run away, we’ll have a hard time explaining. So, you can’t get out,” one of the guards said.
“…”
Did she have to stay in the car forever?
“I want to see Elijah.” She said.
The guards exchanged glances and sent someone to report to Elijah’s secretary.
The secretary received the message and immediately went to Elijah, “Mr Silverton, Freya Stone wants to see you.”
Elijah raised his eyes slowly, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes.
Was she going to admitting defeat?
So soon?
He found it less interesting since he had thought this woman had more backbone.
He stood up and said, “Let’s go out and take a look.”
The secretary followed him.
Elijah walked to the car.
Freya saw him and quickly put on a smiling face, “I thought I’d go out to relax, how did I end up disturbing you.”
“You go out to relax and tidy up everything that belongs to you in the house. Are you going to relax with a lot of clothes? Do you need to change them anytime, like a child, you might wet yourself?” Elijah sarcastically said.
Freya’s mouth twitched, and she really wanted to retort, “Are you even a man? So heartless? Aren’t you afraid of ending your bloodline?!”
But she didn’t dare. She could only endure it.
“You’re joking. I’m an adult.” Freya gritted her teeth. She had to endure and not let the words slip out!
“Can I get out?” She asked, smiling.
Elijah stood with his hands behind his back, unfeeling, “No, didn’t you want to run away? Keep running!”
Freya Stone was at a loss for words.
Was he planning to make her stay in the car forever?
She clenched the steering wheel tightly, gritting her teeth. In her heart, she hated Elijah deeply. This man was truly ruthless. He didn’t leave her any room for negotiation. Not for herself, but for the child in her belly, she had to lower her head and seek forgiveness. Moreover, she wasn’t feeling well.
Freya Stone, with a heavy heart, said, “I’m sorry.”
“Why?” Elijah noticed her pale face, and his thoughts stirred. But his face showed no emotional fluctuations. He remained calm, like an emotionless robot.
“I shouldn’t have thought about running away,” she looked at him with bright eyes, “Let me get out of the car.”
Reading her apologetic attitude, Elijah reluctantly allowed her to get out, “Come inside!”
And he said to the secretary, “Deal with this.”
The secretary glanced at Freya Stone, told the guards to leave.
Dragging her weary body, Freya followed Elijah into the house. She went to the bathroom first and then washed her face.
She failed to run away this time. Elijah would never let her go so easily anymore, so she had to figure out how to face him. Freya thought Elijah would give her a hard time, but he didn’t say anything. She even had a decent meal. She had been on edge the whole time. According to Elijah’s personality, he wouldn’t let it go so easily, right?
After finishing her meal, she ran back to her room, preparing to rest for a while. She was too tired. Just as she lay down on the bed, the door was pushed open. She sat up in shock.
Elijah walked step by step toward her bed.
Freya subconsciously tried to avoid him.
Sure enough, Elijah was going to settle scores.
He grabbed her shoulders a step ahead and pressed her down. His long, well-defined fingers pinched her neck the next second. His pupils were pitch black, brewing a storm, fierce and intense!
Wasn’t he clear enough?
He was trying to put down his dignity and accept her impure side in front of her.
Yet she still refused. She only wanted to escape from him by any means possible!?
This made him feel cheap, made him have no dignity!
When did he fall to such a level?
“Tell me, where are you going to run? To meet your lover?”
Freya struggled to breathe, her cheeks turning red. Her hands gripped the sheets beneath her. She was well aware, to keep the child she had barely managed to keep, she had to leave Elijah.
For her child, she pretended to be blatant, “Yes, I’m going to find that… man… who brought me pleasure in bed…”
