Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 888

The impact of being called "Uncle" was really something else!

Karter had gulped down three big mugs of beer and only stopped when he absolutely couldn't drink another drop. His phone, sitting on the bedside table, buzzed with a notification.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

As he picked it up, the grin on his face froze once he read the message. Flora, who was sitting close by, peeked at the screen. It looked like a text from Racing Club 257 about the details of a tryout race. "Dad, is it from Racing Club 257?" Adrian guessed, noticing Karter's expression.

"Yeah." Karter shifted his gaze from the phone to the window, looking distant and lost in thought. After a moment, he chuckled as if he had come to terms with something. "Well, it looks like it might really be the end of the road for the Reyes Racing Team." No one could fault him for feeling this way. The mood in the hospital room turned heavy.

Karter put the laptop back on the bedside table, his hand trembling slightly. Even though he seemed to accept the situation, it was hard to truly let go. This was the Reyes Racing Team he had always looked after, and now he could only watch as it fell apart. Seeing Karter so down, Flora pressed her lips together and asked, "Can we add someone to the team at the last minute?"

"Huh?" Karter was momentarily caught off guard by her question.

Flora's voice remained laid-back and cool, "I mean, I could stand in for the Reyes Racing Team in the tryout."

Her words were soft but clear enough for everyone to hear. Karter and Ryan were both taken aback.

"Flora, you..."

Before Karter could finish, Adrian's excited shriek filled the room. "That's it! Why didn't I think of that? Sis, you can race for us!"

How did he not think of it sooner? Flora's driving skills were top-notch; with her racing, they were sure to crush the competition! "We're going to win, we're going to win!"

The Smiths won't be able to brag anymore!

"Quiet down!" Karter found Adrian too loud and scolded him. Adrian immediately hushed with just a glance from his dad.

"Flora, don't worry about the Reyes Racing Team. Your hand still hasn't healed Karter said. He had never seen Flora race, but he figured her skills were probably just above average.

Hearing this, Flora raised an eyebrow and smiled with confidence, "No problem, I can take them on with one hand tied behind my back."

The Smiths weren't even worth both her hands. Karter was taken aback by Flora's boldness.

"Dad, Sis is really good at racing! She can beat the Smiths single-handedly!" Adrian chimed in eagerly.

In the end, Karter relented and

agreed to let Flora race. It wasn't that he was pinning all his hopes on her. Despite his reluctance to admit it, the gap between the Reyes and Smith families was big. No matter how good Flora was, she couldn't change everything alone. But if she wanted to race, why not let her? It would be fun, and since the Reyes Racing Team was part of her

father's legacy, letting Flora

represent them one last time felt

right.

...

After leaving the hospital room and visiting Raul, Flora didn't head out until dusk.

Later that evening, after a shower, she casually picked up her phone to find a message from Crimson.

Crimson: "Hey Flora, darling. I haven't tracked down Abbey's whereabouts yet, but I dug up something... the folks who helped her escape seem to have ties to your parents."
