Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 60

He's like a predator zeroing in on its prey, ready to take it down in one swift move.

Selena winced, a jolt of pain making her break into a sweat, but in the next moment, she felt the gentle caress of his tongue, tasting and teasing her skin. Each touch was deliberate, filled with a raw, undeniable desire. At some point, his hand had started exploring her leg, inching upward, sending shivers racing through her body. He knew her intimately, every weak spot, every sensitive nerve, leaving her with nowhere to hide. Right then, it was a mix of pleasure and pain, but the humiliation was even harder to bear. What did he see her as? Someone who was always ready for him, with no regard for her as a person?

She was his wife, yet he was treating her like she was nothing more than an object.

"Everett, you jerk!" she hissed.

"If you keep this up, I swear I'll take you to court!

"And what about your so-called true love? How could you do this to her?"

Her words seemed to bounce right off him. In fact, the more she protested, the more intense his actions became.

His eyes darkened, his touch leaving trails of fire on her skin. Selena felt the sweat trickling down her forehead, and her strength almost sapped.

Suddenly, she stopped resisting. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck, letting him kiss her throat.

In a soft whisper, she spoke into his ear, "Everett, do what you want, but I'm telling you now, I won't be taking any pills afterward. If there's a baby, I'm keeping it."

She wasn't bluffing. She had made up her mind to leave Everett, but if a child was involved, she was determined to have it. Keeping the child wasn't off the table. Sure, Everett might be a jerk, but his genes weren't bad. She didn't mind him being the father of her child.

The word "child" was like a jolt, snapping Everett back to reality in an instant.

His breathing was still heavy in her

ear, the heat of him still lingering but he slowly pulled away, putting. distance between them. In a blink, he was back to his composed, dignified self. en Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

"Selena, I've told you before, don't bring up the issue of children again."

Without his support, Selena's legs felt weak, but she leaned against the wall, forcing herself to stand tall, refusing to show any weakness.

She tilted her chin up, brushed the stray hair off her face, and said defiantly, "And what if I do?"

Everett's brow furrowed deeply, a mix of irritation and discontent flashing in his eyes.

He stared at her for a few moments, then, without another word, stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

Selena's body slowly slid down the wall until she was sitting on the floor. She hugged her knees and let out a bitter laugh.

She couldn't deny that a part of her had hoped, just for a moment, that Everett's strange behavior tonight was because he was jealous, that he cared. But now, she saw it was just his possessiveness talking

After all, she was still Mrs. Bennett in name. Even if he didn't want her, he wouldn't let anyone else have her either.

With shaky hands, Selena tidied up her rumpled dress. Her black stockings were ruined, so she just took them off and tossed them in the trash before getting up to leave.

Her emotions were still a whirlwind,

so she didn't return to the private room right away. Instead, she stood in the corridor, hoping the cool night air would help her calm down.

Maybe the wind was too harsh that night, stinging her eyes and coaxing tears from them. She raised a hand to wipe them away, but they only seemed to come faster. Suddenly, someone offered her a handkerchief.
